MHR-Net: Multiple-Hypothesis Reconstruction of Non-Rigid Shapes from 2D Views
We propose MHR-Net, a novel method for recovering Non-Rigid Shapes from
Motion (NRSfM). MHR-Net aims to find a set of reasonable reconstructions for a
2D view, and it also selects the most likely reconstruction from the set. To
deal with the challenging unsupervised generation of non-rigid shapes, we
develop a new Deterministic Basis and Stochastic Deformation scheme in MHR-Net.
The non-rigid shape is first expressed as the sum of a coarse shape basis and a
flexible shape deformation, then multiple hypotheses are generated with
uncertainty modeling of the deformation part. MHR-Net is optimized with
reprojection loss on the basis and the best hypothesis. Furthermore, we design
a new Procrustean Residual Loss, which reduces the rigid rotations between
similar shapes and further improves the performance. Experiments show that
MHR-Net achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction accuracy on Human3.6M, SURREAL
and 300-VW datasets.Comment: Accepted to ECCV 202
Model to estimate the trapping parameters of cross-linked polyethylene cable peelings of different service years and their relationships with dc breakdown strengths
In this study, an improved trapping/detrapping model was used to simulate the charge dynamics in cross-linked polyethylene peelings from different-year aged cables. Injection barrier of trapping parameters was estimated by the model fitted to experimental data for each type of sample. Moreover, dc breakdown tests were operated on those samples. It has been found that the dc breakdown strength of inner-layer samples is the lowest in cable sections with thicker insulation layer taken from high-voltage ac (HVAC) 220 kV service condition, whereas for the cable with thinner insulation from HVAC 110 kV, middle-layer samples have worst breakdown performance. This might be explained by the space charge issues under long-term HVAC condition. More importantly, a clear relationship between estimated model parameters, including injection barrier, trap depth and trap density, with the dc breakdown strength in each layer has been reported in this study
Production status and research advancement on root rot disease of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) in China
China is the largest producer of faba bean with a total harvested area of 8.11×105 ha and a total production of 1.69 ×106 tons (dry beans) in 2020, accounting for 30% of the world production. Faba bean is grown in China for both fresh pods and dry seed. East China cultivates large seed cultivars for food processing and fresh vegetables, while northwestern and southwestern China grow cultivars for dry seeds, with an increased production of fresh green pods. Most of the faba bean is consumed domestically, with limited exports. The absence of unified quality control measures and simple traditional cultivation practices contributes to the lower competitiveness of the faba bean industry in international markets. Recently, new cultivation methods have emerged with improved weed control, as well as better water and drainage management, resulting in higher quality and income for producers. Root rot disease in faba bean is caused by multiple pathogens, including Fusarium spp., Rhizoctonia spp., and Pythium spp. Fusarium spp. is the most prevalent species causing root rot in faba bean crops and is responsible for severe yield loss, with different species causing the disease in different regions in China. The yield loss ranges from 5% to 30%, up to 100% in severely infected fields. The management of faba bean root rot disease in China involves a combination of physical, chemical, and bio-control methods, including intercropping with non-host crops, applying rational nitrogen, and treating seeds with chemical or bio-seed treatments. However, the effectiveness of these methods is limited due to the high cost, the broad host range of the pathogens, and potential negative impacts on the environment and non-targeted soil organisms. Intercropping is the most widely utilized and economically friendly control method to date. This review provides an overview of the current status of faba bean production in China, the challenges faced by the industry due to root rot disease, and the progress in identifying and managing this disease. This information is critical for developing integrated management strategies to effectively control root rot in faba bean cultivation and facilitating the high-quality development of the faba bean industry
Study on the Optimization of the Formula of Potato Scone andIts Texture Characteristics
In order to enrich potato staple products and improve the sensory quality of scones, the rheological properties of mixed dough of potato flour and wheat flour were studied. With sensory score and texture characteristics as evaluation indexes, the formulation of potato flour scone was optimized by single factor experiments and orthogonal test. The results showed that potato flour could improve the water absorption of wheat flour and shorten the formation time of dough, but it would lead to a decline in the elasticity and strength of the dough, resulting in a decrease in its quality. Therefore, the appropriate substitution ratio for whole potato flour was considered to be 20%. The best process recipe for scones was based on a mixture of wheat flour and whole potato flour quality, with 20% whole potato flour added, 68% water added, 0.8% yeast added and 6% sugar added. The hardness of the scone prepared under the optimal condition was 342.63 g, and the chewiness was 106.76 N. The research results provided a theoretical basis for the quality improvement of the scones and the development of whole potato flour products
Multiparametric MRI combined with liver volume for quantitative evaluation of liver function in patients with cirrhosis
PURPOSEWe aimed to establish a liver function evaluation model by combining multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with liver volume (LV) and further verify the effectiveness of the model to evaluate liver function.METHODSThis retrospective study included 101 consecutive cirrhosis patients (69 cases for modeling group and 32 cases for validation group) who underwent gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI. Five signal intensity parameters were obtained by measuring the signal intensities of the liver, spleen, and erector spinae before and 20 minutes after gadoxetic acid disodium enhancement. The diffusion coefficient (D), pseudo-diffusion coefficient (D*), and perfusion fraction (f) were obtained from intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging. The LV parameters (Vliver, Vspleen, and Vliver/Vspleen) were obtained using 3-dimensional image generation software. The most effective parameter was selected from each of the 3 methods, and a multivariate regression model for liver function evaluation was established and validated.RESULTSIn the modeling group, relative enhancement (RE), D*, and Vliver/Vspleen showed significant differences among the different liver function groups (P < .001). Receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that these parameters had the highest area under the curve (AUC) values for distinguishing Child-Pugh A from Child-Pugh B and C groups (0.917, 0.929, and 0.885, respectively). The following liver function model was obtained by multivariate regression analysis: F(x)=3.96 − 1.243 (RE) − 0.034 (D*) − 0.080 (Vliver/Vspleen) (R2=0.811, P < .001). In the patients with cirrhosis, the F(x) of Child-Pugh A, B, and C were 1.16 ± 0.44, 1.95 ± 0.29, and 2.79 ± 0.38, respectively. In the validation group, the AUC for F(x) to distinguish Child-Pugh A from Child-Pugh B and C was 0.973.CONCLUSIONCombining multiparametric MRI with LV effectively distinguished patients with different ChildPugh grades. This model could hence be useful as a novel radiological marker to estimate the liver function
O2ATH: An OpenMP Offloading Toolkit for the Sunway Heterogeneous Manycore Platform
The next generation Sunway supercomputer employs the SW26010pro processor,
which features a specialized on-chip heterogeneous architecture. Applications
with significant hotspots can benefit from the great computation capacity
improvement of Sunway many-core architectures by carefully making intensive
manual many-core parallelization efforts. However, some legacy projects with
large codebases, such as CESM, ROMS and WRF, contain numerous lines of code and
do not have significant hotspots. The cost of manually porting such
applications to the Sunway architecture is almost unaffordable. To overcome
such a challenge, we have developed a toolkit named O2ATH. O2ATH forwards GNU
OpenMP runtime library calls to Sunway's Athread library, which greatly
simplifies the parallelization work on the Sunway architecture.O2ATH enables
users to write both MPE and CPE code in a single file, and parallelization can
be achieved by utilizing OpenMP directives and attributes. In practice, O2ATH
has helped us to port two large projects, CESM and ROMS, to the CPEs of the
next generation Sunway supercomputers via the OpenMP offload method. In the
experiments, kernel speedups range from 3 to 15 times, resulting in 3 to 6
times whole application speedups.Furthermore, O2ATH requires significantly
fewer code modifications compared to manually crafting CPE functions. This
indicates that O2ATH can greatly enhance development efficiency when porting or
optimizing large software projects on Sunway supercomputers.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, 5 tables
Approaches and considerations for the assessment of immunotoxicity for environmental chemicals: A workshop summary
AbstractAs experience is gained with toxicology testing and as new assays and technologies are developed, it is critical for stakeholders to discuss opportunities to advance our overall testing strategies. To facilitate these discussions, a workshop on practices for assessing immunotoxicity for environmental chemicals was held with the goal of sharing perspectives on immunotoxicity testing strategies and experiences, developmental immunotoxicity (DIT), and integrated and alternative approaches to immunotoxicity testing. Experiences across the chemical and pharmaceutical industries suggested that standard toxicity studies, combined with triggered-based testing approaches, represent an effective and efficient approach to evaluate immunotoxic potential. Additionally, discussions on study design, critical windows, and new guideline approaches and experiences identified important factors to consider before initiating DIT evaluations including assay choice and timing and the impact of existing adult data. Participants agreed that integrating endpoints into standard repeat-dose studies should be considered for fulfilling any immunotoxicity testing requirements, while also maximizing information and reducing animal use. Participants also acknowledged that in vitro evaluation of immunosuppression is complex and may require the use of multiple assays that are still being developed. These workshop discussions should contribute to developing an effective but more resource and animal efficient approach for evaluating chemical immunotoxicity
