Self-adaptive algorithms for quasiconvex programming and applications to machine learning
For solving a broad class of nonconvex programming problems on an unbounded
constraint set, we provide a self-adaptive step-size strategy that does not
include line-search techniques and establishes the convergence of a generic
approach under mild assumptions. Specifically, the objective function may not
satisfy the convexity condition. Unlike descent line-search algorithms, it does
not need a known Lipschitz constant to figure out how big the first step should
be. The crucial feature of this process is the steady reduction of the step
size until a certain condition is fulfilled. In particular, it can provide a
new gradient projection approach to optimization problems with an unbounded
constrained set. The correctness of the proposed method is verified by
preliminary results from some computational examples. To demonstrate the
effectiveness of the proposed technique for large-scale problems, we apply it
to some experiments on machine learning, such as supervised feature selection,
multi-variable logistic regressions and neural networks for classification
THE IMPACT OF MOVEMENT GAMES ON MALE PHYSICAL FITNESS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSES AT SAIGON UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM
Movement games not only help students improve their general fitness but also help increase excitement during exercise. However, the impact of movement games on physical development has not been determined, especially for non-sports majors. The purpose of this study was to find out the impact of movement games on male physical fitness in Physical Education courses. 51 healthy male student volunteers were randomly divided into 3 groups (15w, 7w, and control). Movement games were selected and applied to the experimental group (15w and 7w), while the control group did not apply movement games and practice according to the preset 15-week training program. The results in this study indicated that the application of MG for male students at Saigon University during PE courses had a positive way to enhance general physical fitness (i.e., the explosive power of the legs, agility, speed, and maximal aerobic speed). Future studies should focus on the impact in the time of movement games application, specific characteristics to different schools, as well as the evolution of physical development at each age when using the movement games. Teachers’ Beliefs and Practices Regarding Assessment in English as a Foreign Language Classrooms in Vietnam
Task-based language teaching (TBLT) has generated worldwide popularity as a curriculum innovation, and extensive research has investigated various aspects of the approach. However, little is known about the implementation of classroom assessment in TBLT curricula. This study investigated high school English as a foreign language teachers’ beliefs and practices regarding assessment in a curriculum innovation context in Vietnam. Data comprised in-depth interviews with six teachers, as well as testing documents. The findings revealed a strong impact of the high-stakes exams on teachers’ testing beliefs in that they focused explicitly on linguistic items in the assessed content and forms of assessment. These beliefs were accurately reflected in their testing practices. However, both the teachers’ beliefs and practices were contradictory to teaching principles and the expectations of the intended curriculum. These findings suggest that in-service teacher professional development programs are necessary for innovations like TBLT to have a real change in the classroom
THE APPLICATION OF GENERAL ENDURANCE EXERCISES TO IMPROVE 3000-METER ARMED RUNS OF MALE MILITIA FORCES AGED 25-28 IN HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM
A 3000-meter run with guns, a common physical exercise to train endurance in military force, is one of the training and competition contents for male soldiers of the Vietnam People's Armed Forces in general and militia forces in particular. The purpose of this study was to build up a general endurance exercise for male militia forces aged 25-28 in Ho Chi Minh City. Independent samples t-test was used to compare the difference between the experimental and control groups, while Paired sample t-test was used to identify the difference between the pre- and post-experimental. By using the general methods in sport, 12 general endurance exercises were selected and applied for male militia forces in 3000-meter armed runs. Besides, the result showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups (the experimental group had higher scores when compared with the control one) after eight weeks of training. Environment and Other Problems in Construction Sector - Case of Vietnam Industrial Zones
The purpose of this paper is to address ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER PROBLEMS IN CONSTRUCTION SECTOR - CASE OF VIETNAM INDUSTRIAL ZONES. In this paper, we suggest that Vietnam cities should have policies to encourage and give priority support to production and business establishments that apply clean and environmentally friendly technologies such as gas technology instead of coal technology, firewood in ceramic production, and charcoal production. Bees make use of the residues of buckwheat. High technology is a progressive and inevitable trend to solve environmental pollution in craft villages and industrial zones
LG-Hand: Advancing 3D Hand Pose Estimation with Locally and Globally Kinematic Knowledge
3D hand pose estimation from RGB images suffers from the difficulty of
obtaining the depth information. Therefore, a great deal of attention has been
spent on estimating 3D hand pose from 2D hand joints. In this paper, we
leverage the advantage of spatial-temporal Graph Convolutional Neural Networks
and propose LG-Hand, a powerful method for 3D hand pose estimation. Our method
incorporates both spatial and temporal dependencies into a single process. We
argue that kinematic information plays an important role, contributing to the
performance of 3D hand pose estimation. We thereby introduce two new objective
functions, Angle and Direction loss, to take the hand structure into account.
While Angle loss covers locally kinematic information, Direction loss handles
globally kinematic one. Our LG-Hand achieves promising results on the
First-Person Hand Action Benchmark (FPHAB) dataset. We also perform an ablation
study to show the efficacy of the two proposed objective functions
IT applications in education and Self-directed learning capacity
For differentiated teaching methods in Vietnam, educators only focus on intellectual ability which is provided in academic report cards. Overlooking psychological and cognitive factors leads to poor performance of differentiated teaching in high school in Vietnam. This application of technology in teaching helps teachers to prepare lessons quickly through available lecture templates, and at the same time take advantage of many resources such as videos, images, electronic documents, etc. help attract learners and improve teaching effectiveness
ƯƠNG GIỐNG CUA BIỂN (Scylla paramamosain) VỚI CÁC LOẠI THỨC ĂN VÀ MẬT ĐỘ KHÁC NHAU
This study aims to determine the appropriate feed type and stocking density to improve the survival rate and growth performance of mud crab crablet during the nursery stage. The study consisted of 2 experiments as follows: (1) Rearing crablets with different feed types (including commercial feed, artemia biomass and acetes biomass) and (2) rearing crablets at different stocking densities (including 100; 200; 300 and 400 inds/m2). All treatments were randomly set up in triplicate. The initial sizes of crablet were 3.24 ± 0.54 mm in length, 4.54 ± 0.79 mm in width and 0.018 ± 0.004 g in weight. The result showed that using acetes biomass gave the best results compared to other treatments. The survival rate was 58.8% and biomass was 118 inds/m2. The second experiment showed that rearing crablets at 100 inds/m2 reached the highest survival rate (90.7%) and biomass (91 inds/m2).Nghiên cứu nhằm xác định loại thức ăn và mật độ ương thích hợp để nâng cao tỷ lệ sống và tăng trưởng trong ương giống cua biển.
