A total of 722 algal taxa are recorded in Diyala River by different authors. Most of the identification algae belong to three Divisions: Bacillariophyceae (367, 50.8%), Chlorophyceae (179, 24.8%), and Cyanophyceae (126, 17.5%)

Resilience and well-being among children of migrant parents in South-East Asia

There has been little systematic empirical research on the well-being of children in transnational households in South-East Asia—a major sending region for contract migrants. This study uses survey data collected in 2008 from children aged 9, 10 and 11 and their caregivers in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam (N=1,498). Results indicate that while children of migrant parents, especially migrant mothers, are less likely to be happy compared to children in non-migrant households, greater resilience in child well-being is associated with longer durations of maternal absence. There is no evidence for a direct parental migration effect on school enjoyment and performance. The analyses highlight the sensitivity of results to the dimension of child well-being measured and who makes the assessment.Publisher PDFPeer reviewe

The Condition and Distribution of Stony Corals (Scleractinia Corals) in Bangka Water

Bangka water is well known as the best tin producer in which there are many off-shore tin-mining activities conducted by both local people and tin companies. Such condition apparently brings negative impacts to marine life. Stony corals are considered as the major component of coral reef ecosystems whose condition is influenced by environmental condition. The aim of this study is to observe the general condition of coral reefs and the distribution of stony corals in Bangka Water. The study was carried out between September and November 2010 by taking 10 stations. The method used was LIT as long as 70 meters installed parallel to the coast line. The result indicates that generally the condition of coral reef was categorized as fair condition, the coral cover averaging at 47, 82 %. There were 89 species of stony corals found, divided into 13 genera. The most dominant species was Porites lutea , particularly at Station 6 by 33,3%. The prolonged turbidity mainly caused by tin-mining activities is thought to lead the coral reefs to critical condition particularly in some areas

Masalah utama pada kerajinan mendong di Tasikmalaya adalah limbah mendong yang menumpuk. Penanganan terhadap limbah mendong dapat dilakukan salah satunya dengan penerapan energi mandiri berupa biogas.Dalam studi kelayakan ini akan dibahas secara mendalam kelayakan instalasi biogas yang akan diimplementasi di kampung Lembur Sawah desa Kamulyan Kabupaten Manonjaya Kota Tasikmalaya. Analisis dilakukan dengan meninjau kelayakan dari aspek pasar sebanyak 92 responden di kampung Lembur Sawah, aspek teknis produksi biogas disesuaikan dengan kapasitas mesin digester dan ketersediaan limbah mendong dari pengrajin., aspek lingkungan pengelolaan limbah biogas dapat diolah kembali menjadi pupuk cair dan padat sehingga limbah dapat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat, dan aspek finansial berdasarkan perhitungan NPV, BCR, dan PBP dengan proyeksi selama periode 5 tahun. Development of a New Kinetic Model for Methanol to Propylene Process on Mn/H-ZSM-5 Catalyst

The activity of the H-ZSM-5 was modified by the addition of Ca, Mn, Cr, Fe, Ni, Ag, Ce and P. The highest selectivity of propylene was obtained over the Mn/H-ZSM-5 catalyst. The Mn modified catalyst was selected as the optimal catalyst and the kinetic study was carried out on it. All of the experiments were carried out in an isothermal fixed bed and plug flow reactor with the mixture of methanol and water. The temperature range was 400–550 °C and the weight hourly space velocities (WHSV) of methanol were: 2.51, 5.42, and 8.17 h–1. A reaction mechanism based on the theory of hydrocarbon pool and conjugate methylation/cracking mechanisms was proposed. The behavior of the reactor was mathematically modeled and the hybrid genetic algorithm was applied to estimate kinetic parameters. Good agreement was observed between the experimental and the calculated data. Effect of temperature on propylene selectivity was also investigated.
