Puhe ja kieli 3/2010 ja 4/2010 numeroiden kahdessa artikkelissa annettiin toisistaan poikkeavaa tietoa kuulonsa menettäneiden ja synnynnäisesti vaikea-asteisesti kuulovikaisten lasten sisäkorvaistuteleikkaustenaloitusajankohdasta ja sisäkorvaistutetta käyttävien lasten määristä Suomessa (Sume, 2010, s. 189; Välimaa & Lonka, 2010, s. 131). Ensimmäinen kuulonsa menettänyt lapsi sai Suomessa sisäkorvaistutteen vuonna 1995 ja syntymästään asti vaikea-asteisesti kuulovikainen lapsi vuonna 1997 (Kokkonen, Mäki-Torkko, Roine, & Ikonen, 2009; Välimaa & Lonka, 2010). Arviot sisäkorvaistutteita käyttävien lasten määristä vaihtelevat hieman eri lähteissä, koska ne ovat riippuvaisia tehdyn kyselyn ajankohdasta ja vuosittain tehtävien sisäkorvaistuteleikkausten määrästä (esim. Jero & Kentala, 2007; Kokkonen ym., 2009). Mobility
In Conversation Analysis, the term mobility is used in the context of how social participants talk and interact while moving from one place to another. Conversation Analytic work on mobility focuses specifically on whole-body movement through space and is thus distinct from analyses of body part movements (e.g., gestures or shifts in body orientation). It also embraces not just walking bodies, but bodies that are being transported or conducting various forms of transportation

Multiactivity

Materiality
In Conversation Analysis, materiality is used to refer to the particulars of the physical (e.g., Goodwin, 2000), virtual (Hindmarsh, Heath & Fraser, 2006) or video-mediated interactions (Luff, et al. 2016; Oittinen, 2018), such as, objects, artifacts, technologies, tools, documents and shapes that participants can see, hear, touch and/or manipulate and use for accomplishing actions and activities in interaction (for an overview, see Nevile et al., 2014b: 12–13)
Leave-taking as multiactivity:coordinating conversational closings with driving in cars
Abstract
This paper uses conversation analysis and video-based methods to study how the driver and passengers interact in order to coordinate multiple activities in cars. The video data have been recorded in naturally occurring driving situations in Britain and Finland. The analysis focuses on leave-taking during drop-offs, i.e. situations where the driver is pulling over for a momentary stop to let a passenger out of the car. It shows how in-car participants time and coordinate the conversation’s closing step by step with respect to the car’s movement and the eventual stop; i.e. they coordinate leave-taking as multiactivity. The paper suggests that some of the ways in which leave-taking is managed as multiactivity contributes to the construction of safety in traffic
