A Literature Review of Global Citizenship Education
This article reviews research trends in global citizenship education. Global education, Education for International Understanding, and Citizenship education have related to and influenced each other. Global education spread after 1945 as Education for International Understanding was promoted by UNESCO. UNESCO promoted Global citizenship education because of the agenda of sustainable development and limitation of Education for International Understanding in the era after the cold war. There are a huge number of global citizenship education theories. This article tries to find a perspective to explore an analytical framework based on students’ ideas of global citizenship. The paper concludes that further research is required on the theory of moral global citizenship with regards to investigating not only the normative aspect of global citizenship but also critical literacy for global citizenship norms

Molecular-Cloud-Scale Chemical Composition I: Mapping Spectral Line Survey toward W51 in the 3 mm Band
We have conducted a mapping spectral line survey toward the Galactic giant
molecular cloud W51 in the 3 mm band with the Mopra 22 m telescope in order to
study an averaged chemical composition of the gas extended over a molecular
cloud scale in our Galaxy. We have observed the area of , which
corresponds to 39 pc 47 pc. The frequency ranges of the observation
are 85.1 - 101.1 GHz and 107.0 - 114.9 GHz. In the spectrum spatially averaged
over the observed area, spectral lines of 12 molecular species and 4 additional
isotopologues are identified. An intensity pattern of the spatially-averaged
spectrum is found to be similar to that of the spiral arm in the external
galaxy M51, indicating that these two sources have similar chemical
compositions. The observed area has been classified into 5 sub-regions
according to the integrated intensity of CO() (), and contributions of the fluxes of 11 molecular lines from each
sub-region to the averaged spectrum have been evaluated. For most of molecular
species, 50 % or more of the flux come from the sub-regions with from 25 K km s to 100 K km s, which does not involve
active star forming regions. Therefore, the molecular-cloud-scale spectrum
observed in the 3 mm band hardly represents the chemical composition of star
forming cores, but mainly represents the chemical composition of an extended
quiescent molecular gas. The present result constitutes a sound base for
interpreting the spectra of external galaxies at a resolution of a molecular
cloud scale ( pc) or larger.Comment: Accepted for publication in Ap
HFIGMI–VMAT for brain metastases
Volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) can be used to design hypofractionated radiotherapy treatment plans for multiple brain metastases. The purpose of this study was to evaluate treatment outcomes of hypofractionated image-guided multifocal irradiation using VMAT (HFIGMI–VMAT) for brain metastases. From July 2012 to December 2016, 67 consecutive patients with 601 brain metastases were treated with HFIGMI–VMAT at our institution. The prescribed dose was 50 Gy to a 95% volume of the planning target volume in 10 fractions. Fifty-five of the 67 patients had non-small-cell lung cancer, and the remaining 12 had other types of cancer. The median number of brain metastases was five, and the median maximum diameter was 1.2 cm. The median duration of follow-up was 12.0 months (range, 1.9–44.8 months), and the median survival time 18.7 months. Four patients with six lesions had local recurrences. The local control rate in the 64 assessed patients was 98.4% and 95.3% at 6 and 12 months, respectively (three died before assessment). The local control rate for the 572 assessed lesions was 99.8% and 99.3% at 6 and 12 months, respectively. Thirty-nine patients developed distant brain metastases, the distant brain control rate being 59.7% and 40.5% at 6 and 12 months, respectively. Acute toxicities were generally mild (Grade 1–2). Three patients (4.5%) developed radiation necrosis requiring corticosteroid therapy. The HFIGMI–VMAT technique with flat dose delivery was well tolerated and achieved excellent local control. This technique is a promising treatment option for patients with multiple and large brain metastases

Yuri Gagarin said,“The Earth is blue”, in the first manned spacecraft Vostok 1 in April 1961 when he glimpsed the planet from the space. Since then, human beings have been evolving technology of rocket, so that they can stay in space for several months and years. In Japan, JAXA has almost finished constructing“Kibo”, a space experimental module in the International Space Station(ISS), in August, 2008. The first space research of Japan will be carried out at“Kibo”soon. We are also planning to perform a space experiment in“Kibo”to clarify the molecular mechanism of muscle atrophy caused by micro gravity. In this paper, we report our history and future plan to develop space research

Free fatty acid receptors, G protein-coupled receptor 120 and G protein-coupled receptor 40, are essential for oil-induced gastric inhibitory polypeptide secretion
Aims/Introduction: Incretin hormone glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide/gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) plays a key role in high‐fat diet‐induced obesity and insulin resistance. GIP is strongly secreted from enteroendocrine K cells by oil ingestion. G protein‐coupled receptor (GPR)120 and GPR40 are two major receptors for long chain fatty acids, and are expressed in enteroendocrine K cells. In the present study, we investigated the effect of the two receptors on oil‐induced GIP secretion using GPR120‐ and GPR40‐double knockout (DKO) mice. Materials and Methods: Global knockout mice of GPR120 and GPR40 were crossbred to generate DKO mice. Oral glucose tolerance test and oral corn oil tolerance test were carried out. For analysis of the number of K cells and gene expression in K cells, DKO mice were crossbred with GIP‐green fluorescent protein knock‐in mice in which visualization and isolation of K cells can be achieved. Results: Double knockout mice showed normal glucose‐induced GIP secretion, but no GIP secretion by oil. We then investigated the number of K cells and gene characteristics in K cells isolated from GIP‐green fluorescent protein knock‐in mice. Deficiency of both receptors did not affect the number of K cells in the small intestine or expression of GIP messenger ribonucleic acid in K cells. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in the expression of the genes associated with lipid absorption or GIP secretion in K cells between wild‐type and DKO mice. Conclusions: Oil‐induced GIP secretion is triggered by the two major fatty acid receptors, GPR120 and GPR40, without changing K‐cell number or K‐cell characteristics
