    Model of organizational abilities among secondary school teachers

    This study confirms the correlation model constructed among organizational abilities variables of secondary school teachers. The organizational abilities variables are: organizational commitment, and professional commitment, job satisfaction, and job performance. The samples are secondary school teachers selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through a rating scale questionnaire (1-5) and analyzed using Lisrel 8.0 program. The results show that professional commitment has a significant effect on organizational commitment and job satisfaction with values of 2.72 and 2.60. Other findings that organizational commitment and job satisfaction have an effect on job performance with values of 2.36 and 2.02. Empirically, the results concluded that the correlation among the variables theoretically fulfilled the fit criteria

    Governance Based on Cost Analysis: Unit Cost Analysis for Vocational Schools

    This study aims to calculate unit cost to produce one middle-level vocational school graduate (in Indonesian terms known as ‘Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan’ abbreviated as SMK). The calculation is required because operational grant funds (in Indonesian terms known as antuan Operational Sekolah abbreviated as BOS) are distributed so far to the same extent in all areas of Indonesia and for all majors. This is most likely less than optimal because in fact there are very basic characteristics differences including; Economic capacity of each region, the cost standard for each region, and the type of department in the school. Based on this, the researcher assumed that cost analysis should be done by considering these things as a basis to provide BOS funds tailored to specific characteristics. The data to be analyzed in this research is North Sumatra province data. This research is conducted in two stages, which in this report only completed the first phase which is a survey in North Sumatra region. Stages of survey to obtain data which then analyzed with related data such as community income, learning outcomes through the value of national examinations, tuition fee, and conditions of learning facilities. The research is funded by the ministries of research, technology and higher education through competing grant schemes for fiscal year 2017 and 2018. The result of correlation analysis between the variables shows that there is a strong relationship between the average income with average tuition paid by the community and between average tuition paid by the community with Quality Level of Education Facilities. The result of correlation analysis also shows a moderate relationship between the average tuition with learning outcomes measured through average national exam and relationship between quality level of education facilities with average national exam. While the relationship between average income with average national exam does not have a strong relationship. The result of correlation analysis concludes that further research is required to calculate unit cost. The results of these calculations can be used as a recommendation for policy makers to evaluate the funding system boss funds to pay attention to the characteristics as mentioned earlier.     Keywords: component; vocational school; unit cost; unit analysi

    A total of 30,000 phage papers, books, or book chapters, published between 1965 and 2010, were analyzed for the ethnic origins of 14,429 first authors. Their names represent 40 linguistic domains or geographic areas and at least 70 languages. British and German names predominate. Results broadly concur with statistics on the frequency of publications by country and show the growing role of Third-World countries in phage research. Irish and Jewish scientists are prominent. Historical and societal factors appear to be very important elements in the advancement of science

    Conflicts of Interest in Neoliberal Times: Perspectives of Australian medical students

    In this paper we report on the findings from six focus groups conducted with Australian medical students. The focus groups discussed students’ perceptions of conflicts of interest and the influence of commercial values in health care and medical education. Our research revealed that students were aware of a number of structural influences that affected the medical education they received and that had the potential to shape their attitudes and practices as they progressed in becoming a doctor. We found that the pressures of educational workload and anticipated career trajectories tended to have an individualising effect that limited the perceived possibility of collective action and response to structural influences. We interpreted these findings through the lens of neoliberal governmentality to articulate the way commercial interests are negotiated and normalised by medical students. Based on these findings, we suggest that medical education should not only explicitly alert students to effects of political and commercial influences on the healthcare system, but also encourage the collective agency of students and strategies that do not place unrealistic expectations on individuals to effect structural change.     Evaluasi Unjuk Kerja Alat Spektrofotometer UV-Vis Menggunakan Holmium Oksida Dan Kalium Dikromat

    The Evaluation of Hitachi U 2010 UV-Vis Spectrophometer performance using holmium glass from Starna reference materials and potassium dichromate has been done. The aim of investigation with holmium glass was to known wavelength work region at ultra violet and visible area, potassium dichromate solution used to known photometric performance of UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The result of investigation used holmium glass showed wavelength peak at 241, 278, 287, 333, 360, 418, 445, 453, 459, 536 and 637 nm regions, wich it is similar with reference material. The determination of photometric resulted by absorbance value measurement at 235, 275, 313 and 350 nm were 0,746; 0,860; 0,294; 0,641 respectively. The result of wavelength and photometric investigation showed that Hitachi U 2010 spectrophotometer was proper to done and suitable with SR 03 KAN reference

    Significant reduction in helicobacter pylori load in humans with non-viable lactobacillus reuteri DSM17648: A pilot study

    Reducing the amount of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach by selective bacterial-bacterial cell interaction was sought as an effective and novel method for combating the stomach pathogen. Lactobacillus reuteri DSM17648 was identified as a highly specific binding antagonist to H. pylori among more than 700 wild-type strains of Lactobacillus species. Applying a stringent screening procedure, the strain DSM17648 was identified as selective binder to H. pylori cells under in vivo gastric conditions. The strain DSM17648 co-aggregates the pathogen in vivo and in vitro. The specific co-aggregation occurs between Lact. reuteri DSM17648 and different H. pylori strains and serotypes, as well as H. heilmannii, but not with Campylobacter jejuni or other commensal oral and intestinal bacteria. Lact. reuteri DSM17648 was shown in a proof-of-concept single-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled pilot study to significantly reduce the load of H. pylori in healthy yet infected adults. Reducing the amount of H. pylori in the stomach by selective bacterial-bacterial cell interaction might be an effective and novel method for combating the stomach pathogen. Lact. reuteri DSM17648 might prove useful as an adhesion blocker in antibiotic-free H. pylori therapies

    MSF-Model: Modeling Metastable Failures in Replicated Storage Systems

    Metastable failure is a recent abstraction of a pattern of failures that occurs frequently in real-world distributed storage systems. In this paper, we propose a formal analysis and modeling of metastable failures in replicated storage systems. We focus on a foundational problem in distributed systems -- the problem of consensus -- to have an impact on a large class of systems. Our main contribution is the development of a queuing-based analytical model, MSF-Model, that can be used to characterize and predict metastable failures. MSF-Model integrates novel modeling concepts that allow modeling metastable failures which was interactable to model prior to our work. We also perform real experiments to reproduce and validate our model. Our real experiments show that MSF-Model predicts metastable failures with high accuracy by comparing the real experiment with the predictions from the queuing-based model

    The impact of therapeutic group therapy on the life purpose of elderly people suffering from loneliness

    The elderly face a variety of psychological issues, including loneliness, as they reach the end of their human development stage. Some external stimuli are required to overcome loneliness because it affects the life goals of the elderly, which differ from those of younger people. Therapeutic group therapy (TGT) is one of the stimuli provided, and it trains the elderly to adapt to changes in their lives, including their life goals. A quasi-experimental study was used to evaluate the effect of therapeutic group therapy on the sense of purpose in life among lonely elderly people. Following the assessment of loneliness, 86 elderly people experiencing loneliness were recruited for this study and divided into two groups. The intervention group received health education on the development of the elderly as well as therapeutic group therapy. Only health education was provided to the control group. When compared to the control group, the elderly who experienced loneliness in the intervention group had a higher score on purpose of life

    Power and Energy Applications Based on Quantum Computing:The Possible Potentials of Grover’s Algorithm

    In quantum computing, calculations are achieved using quantum mechanics. Typically, two main phenomena of quantum mechanics (i.e., superposition and entanglement) allow quantum computing to solve some problems more efficiently than classical algorithms. The most well-known advantage of quantum computing is the speedup of some of the calculations, which have been performed before by classical applications. Scientists and engineers are attempting to use quantum computing in different fields of science, e.g., drug discovery, chemistry, computer science, etc. However, there are few attempts to use quantum computing in power and energy applications. This paper tries to highlight this gap by discussing one of the most famous quantum computing algorithms (i.e., Grover’s algorithm) and discussing the potential applications of this algorithm in power and energy systems, which can serve as one of the starting points for using Grover’s algorithm in power and energy systems
