Novel 1.5 GPa-strength with 50%-ductility by transformation-induced plasticity of non-recrystallized austenite in duplex steels
Needs for steel designs of ultra-high strength and excellent ductility have been an important issue in worldwide automotive industries to achieve energy conservation, improvement of safety, and crashworthiness qualities. Because of various drawbacks in existing 1.5-GPa-grade steels, new development of formable cold-rolled ultra-high-strength steels is essentially needed. Here we show a plausible method to achieve ultra-high strengths of 1.0~1.5 GPa together with excellent ductility above 50% by actively utilizing non-recrystallization region and TRansformation-Induced Plasticity (TRIP) mechanism in a cold-rolled and annealed Fe-Mn-Al-C-based steel. We adopt a duplex microstructure composed of austenite and ultra-fine ferrite in order to overcome low-yield-strength characteristics of austenite. Persistent elongation up to 50% as well as ultra-high yield strength over 1.4 GPa are attributed to well-balanced mechanical stability of non-crystallized austenite with critical strain for TRIP. Our results demonstrate how the non-recrystallized austenite can be a metamorphosis in 1.5-GPa-grade steel sheet design. ? 2017 The Author(s).114Ysciescopu
Loss of superhydrophobicity of hydrophobic micro/nano structures during condensation
Condensed liquid behavior on hydrophobic micro/nano-structured surfaces is a subject with multiple practical applications, but remains poorly understood. In particular, the loss of superhydrophobicity of hydrophobic micro/nanostructures during condensation, even when the same surface shows water-repellant characteristics when exposed to air, requires intensive investigation to improve and apply our understanding of the fundamental physics of condensation. Here, we postulate the criterion required for condensation to form from inside the surface structures by examining the grand potentials of a condensation system, including the properties of the condensed liquid and the conditions required for condensation. The results imply that the same hydrophobic micro/nano-structured surface could exhibit different liquid droplet behavior depending on the conditions. Our findings are supported by the observed phenomena: the initiation of a condensed droplet from inside a hydrophobic cavity, the apparent wetted state changes, and the presence of sticky condensed droplets on the hydrophobic micro/nano-structured surface. © 2015, Macmillan Publishers Limited. Molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of human astrovirus in South Korea from 2002 to 2007
AbstractThe present study was conducted to survey the prevalence and genotypic distribution of human astrovirus (HAstV) circulating in South Korea. Of 160,027 patients with acute gastroenteritis, 2,057 (1.3%) were positive for HAstV antigen. We determined the genotypes of 187 HAstV strains collected from laboratories across the country. Genetic analysis revealed genotype 1 to be the most prevalent, accounting for 72.19% of the strains, followed by genotypes 8 (9.63%), 6 (6.95%), 4 (6.42%), 2 (3.21%) and 3 (1.60%). Our findings indicate that HAstV is less common but, even so, a potentially important viral agent of gastroenteritis in South Korea, with significant genetic diversity among circulating HAstV strains
Facile electrodeposition of high-density CuCo2O4 nanosheets as a high-performance Li-ion battery anode material
High-density CuCo2O4 nanosheets are grown on Ni foam using electrodeposition followed by air annealing for a Li-ion battery anode. The anode exhibits a high discharge capacity of 1244 mAh/g at 0.1 A/g (82% coulombic efficiency) and excellent high-rate performance with 95% capacity retention (1100 mAh/g after 200 cycles at 1 A/g). The outstanding battery performance of the CuCo2O4 anode is attributed to its binder-free direct contact to the current collector and high-density nanosheet morphology. The present experimental findings demonstrate that the electrodeposited binder-free CuCo2O4 material may serve as a safe, low-cost, long-cycle life anode for Li-ion batteries
Scaling Tests of the Cross Section for Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering
We present the first measurements of the \vec{e}p->epg cross section in the
deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) regime and the valence quark region.
The Q^2 dependence (from 1.5 to 2.3 GeV^2) of the helicity-dependent cross
section indicates the twist-2 dominance of DVCS, proving that generalized
parton distributions (GPDs) are accessible to experiment at moderate Q^2. The
helicity-independent cross section is also measured at Q^2=2.3 GeV^2. We
present the first model-independent measurement of linear combinations of GPDs
and GPD integrals up to the twist-3 approximation.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables. Text shortened for publication.

Auction‐based competition of hybrid small cells for dropped macrocell users
This is an open access article published by the IET under the Creative Commons Attribution License ( http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/)We propose an auction based beamforming and user association algorithm for a wireless
network consisting of a macrocell and multiple small cell access points (SCAs). The SCAs compete for serving the macrocell base station (MBS) users (MUs). The corresponding user association problem is solved by the proposed bid-wait auction (BWA) method. We considered two scenarios. In the first scenario, the MBS initially admits the largest possible set of MUs that it can serve simultaneously and then auctions off the remaining MUs to the SCAs, who are willing to admit guest users (GUs) in addition to their commitments to serve their own host users (HUs). This problem is solved by the proposed forward bid-wait auction (FBWA). In the second scenario,
the MBS aims to offload as many MUs as possible to the SCAs and then admits the largest possible set of remaining MUs. This is solved by the proposed backward bid-wait auction (BBWA). The proposed algorithms provide close to optimum solution as if obtained using a centralised global
optimization
Exclusive Neutral Pion Electroproduction in the Deeply Virtual Regime
We present measurements of the ep->ep pi^0 cross section extracted at two
values of four-momentum transfer Q^2=1.9 GeV^2 and Q^2=2.3 GeV^2 at Jefferson
Lab Hall A. The kinematic range allows to study the evolution of the extracted
hadronic tensor as a function of Q^2 and W. Results will be confronted with
Regge inspired calculations and GPD predictions. An intepretation of our data
within the framework of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering has also been
attempted
The COSINE-100 liquid scintillator veto system
This paper describes the liquid scintillator veto system for the COSINE-100 dark matter experiment and its performance. The COSINE-100 detector consists of eight NaI(Tl) crystals immersed in 2200 L of linear alkylbenzene-based liquid scintillator. The liquid scintillator tags between 65 and 75% of the internal 40K background in the 2–6 keV energy region. We also describe the background model for the liquid scintillator, which is primarily used to assess its energy calibration and threshold
Differential cross section and recoil polarization measurements for the gamma p to K+ Lambda reaction using CLAS at Jefferson Lab
We present measurements of the differential cross section and Lambda recoil
polarization for the gamma p to K+ Lambda reaction made using the CLAS detector
at Jefferson Lab. These measurements cover the center-of-mass energy range from
1.62 to 2.84 GeV and a wide range of center-of-mass K+ production angles.
Independent analyses were performed using the K+ p pi- and K+ p (missing pi -)
final-state topologies; results from these analyses were found to exhibit good
agreement. These differential cross section measurements show excellent
agreement with previous CLAS and LEPS results and offer increased precision and
a 300 MeV increase in energy coverage. The recoil polarization data agree well
with previous results and offer a large increase in precision and a 500 MeV
extension in energy range. The increased center-of-mass energy range that these
data represent will allow for independent study of non-resonant K+ Lambda
photoproduction mechanisms at all production angles.Comment: 22 pages, 16 figure
Measurement of the nuclear multiplicity ratio for hadronization at CLAS
The influence of cold nuclear matter on lepto-production of hadrons in
semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering is measured using the CLAS detector in
Hall B at Jefferson Lab and a 5.014 GeV electron beam. We report the
multiplicity ratios for targets of C, Fe, and Pb relative to deuterium as a
function of the fractional virtual photon energy transferred to the
and the transverse momentum squared of the . We find that the
multiplicity ratios for are reduced in the nuclear medium at high
and low , with a trend for the transverse momentum to be
broadened in the nucleus for large .Comment: Submitted to Phys. Lett.
