Improving Students' Narrative Writing By Using Wh-questions AS A Guide
The research purpose is to see how far the improvement of students' narrative writing has been made by using WH-Questions as a guide. The research method that used is a classroom action research and the data were collected by direct observation technique in the teaching learning process through field notes as the tools of research. The research was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle was conducted on 28 October 2011 and the second cycle on 3 November 2011. After conducting the research, the writer got the data which show that WH-Questions increased the students' narrative writing in the classroom activity. The finding of this research showed that WH-Questions can help students to improve students'narrative writing, it is looked by the score from 58.13 at first cycle and 78.39 at second cycle

Improving Students Reading Comprehension on Hortatory Exposition Text Through Reciprocal Teaching Strategy
This study wasClassroom Action Research (CAR) to improve senior high school students readingcomprehension. In this project, Reciprocal Teaching Strategy (RTS) was used tohelp students find meaning in English reading texts. The process of RTScomprises of reading activities such as predicting, questioning, clarifying, and summarizing which typically involving interaction between students-studentsand students-teacher. Predicting helped the students hypothesized the generalidea of the text. Questioning helped the students get deeper understanding ofthe text by generating questions. The students clarified unfamiliar parts inorder to understand the clumsy part of the text. Summarizing monitored thestudents understanding by concluding the text. After three cycles of theteaching learning processes, the students reading comprehension improvedgradually
The Effectiveness of Repetition and Role Play in Teaching Speaking
The purpose of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Repetition and Role Play technique in teaching speaking. The study was Quasi Experimental, Nonrandomized Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subject of the research was Year-10 students of SMK Panca Bhakti Sungai Raya in academic year 2014/2015. The sample was two classes, Accounting Class as experimental group and Hotel Management Class as control group which had 30 students of each class. Pretest and posttest were administered in both groups. The treatments were conducted three times. The data showed that the pretest mean score of both groups was similar; 56 and 56,3 for control and experimental group respectively. After the treatment, the posttest mean score of both groups was significantly different; 73,3 for experimental group, and 62,7 for control group. The data proved that repetition and role play technique had strong effect in teaching speaking
IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY IN NARRATIVE TEXT BY USING PICTURE SERIES IN SMA
Abstract: This research focused on finding out how Picture Series can improve students’ writing ability in narrative text. The subjects of this research were eleventh grade students of SMAN 6 Pontianak. There were 33 students who actively participating in classroom. The researcher selected the media from real things related to the material. That is picture series. In conducting this research, the researcher collected the data from the class by means of action research that was carried out through two cycles. The researcher found that there was an improvement from first cycle to the second cycle. The result of this research showed that the students’ improvement in mastering writing narrative was good. The second cycle was higher than first cycle. There were 64.54% in the first cycle and 78.18% in second cycle. Based on this study, it was found that by using picture series the students’ quality of writing was improved.
Performance Prediction Method Considering Shock Wave in Nozzle for High-Voltage Circuit Breaker
Interrupting-performance indexes that reflect the physical properties of gas flow are proposed for a breaker terminal fault of a high-voltage circuit breaker. A method of evaluating the shock wave and flow velocity was developed that uses a theoretical equation of supersonic flow which takes into account the nozzle’s shape and stagnation pressure. The predicted flow velocities and positions at which the shock wave forms have strong correlations with the test results
Sustainable development of production in Russia: an informative aspect
This paper is devoted to the study of the problems of introduction of the concept of sustainable development of production at modern enterprises. The paper substantiates the necessity of application of this concept at enterprises, gives reasons hindering this process. In addition, the analysis of the notion of sustainable development of production, wherein this process is represented as development of production by means of rational and economical use of resources oriented to provision of a long-term competitive advantage, was conducted in the paper. Moreover, the paper presents the basic principles of successful introduction of the concept of sustainable development of production. By the example of Toyota Company the benefits, which can be derived by an enterprise from application of this concept, were shown
Choices change the temporal weighting of decision evidence
Many decisions result from the accumulation of decision-relevant information (evidence) over time. Even when maximizing decision accuracy requires weighting all the evidence equally, decision-makers often give stronger weight to evidence occurring early or late in the evidence stream. Here, we show changes in such temporal biases within participants as a function of intermittent judgments about parts of the evidence stream. Human participants performed a decision task that required a continuous estimation of the mean evidence at the end of the stream. The evidence was either perceptual (noisy random dot motion) or symbolic (variable sequences of numbers). Participants also reported a categorical judgment of the preceding evidence half-way through the stream in one condition or executed an evidence-independent motor response in another condition. The relative impact of early versus late evidence on the final estimation flipped between these two conditions. In particular, participants’ sensitivity to late evidence after the intermittent judgment, but not the simple motor response, was decreased. Both the intermittent response as well as the final estimation reports were accompanied by nonluminance-mediated increases of pupil diameter. These pupil dilations were bigger during intermittent judgments than simple motor responses and bigger during estimation when the late evidence was consistent than inconsistent with the initial judgment. In sum, decisions activate pupil-linked arousal systems and alter the temporal weighting of decision evidence. Our results are consistent with the idea that categorical choices in the face of uncertainty induce a change in the state of the neural circuits underlying decision-making. NEW & NOTEWORTHY The psychology and neuroscience of decision-making have extensively studied the accumulation of decision-relevant information toward a categorical choice. Much fewer studies have assessed the impact of a choice on the processing of subsequent information. Here, we show that intermittent choices during a protracted stream of input reduce the sensitivity to subsequent decision information and transiently boost arousal. Choices might trigger a state change in the neural machinery for decision-making
