    . Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals has been widely researched and developed in many fields of science. EEG signals could be classified into useful information for the application of Brain Computer Interface topic (BCI). In this research, we focus in a topic about driving a car using EEG signal. There are many approaches in EEG signal classification, but some approaches do not robust EEG signals that have many artifacts and have been recorded in real time. This research aims to classify EEG signals to obtain more optimal results, especially EEG signals with many artifacts and can be recorded in realtime. This research uses Emotiv EPOC device to record EEG signals in realtime. In this research, we propose the combination of Automatic Artifact Removal (AAR) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) which has 71% of accuracy that can be applied to drive a virtual car

    In the title compound, C15H11ClO2, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the chloro­benzene and hy­droxy­benzene rings is 6.5 (6)°. The mean plane of the prop-2-en-1-one group makes an angle of 18.0 (1)° with the hy­droxy­phenyl ring and 11.5 (1)° with the chloro­phenyl ring. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, weak C—H⋯O, C—H⋯π and π–π stacking inter­actions [centroid–centroid distances = 3.7771 (7) and 3.6917 (7) Å]

    In the title compound, C17H16O4, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the hy­droxy­phenyl and dimeth­oxy­phenyl rings is 5.9 (6)°. The mean plane of the prop-2-en-1-one group makes dihedral angles of 3.6 (0) and 2.6 (7)° with the hy­droxy­phenyl and dimeth­oxy­phenyl rings, respectively.     A significant amount of alpha particles, upto \sim 35 MeV are produced in the reactor environment. Alpha induced reaction on natural Zirconium, a reactor component, upto 40 MeV has been measured using stacked foil activation technique. The total neutron production cross section from all possible channels for α\alpha energies upto 35 MeV is also estimated using TALYS 1.96. The isomeric cross section ratio for the production of the radionuclide 95Nb^{95}Nb has been measured and reported for the first time

    Protective Effects of Walnut Extract Against Amyloid Beta Peptide-Induced Cell Death and Oxidative Stress in PC12 Cells

    Amyloid beta-protein (Aβ) is the major component of senile plaques and cerebrovascular amyloid deposits in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Aβ is known to increase free radical production in neuronal cells, leading to oxidative stress and cell death. Recently, considerable attention has been focused on dietary antioxidants that are able to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby offering protection against oxidative stress. Walnuts are rich in components that have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The inhibition of in vitro fibrillization of synthetic Aβ, and solubilization of preformed fibrillar Aβ by walnut extract was previously reported. The present study was designed to investigate whether walnut extract can protect against Aβ-induced oxidative damage and cytotoxicity. The effect of walnut extract on Aβ-induced cellular damage, ROS generation and apoptosis in PC12 pheochromocytoma cells was studied. Walnut extract reduced Aβ-mediated cell death assessed by MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) reduction, and release of lactate dehydrogenase (membrane damage), DNA damage (apoptosis) and generation of ROS in a concentration-dependent manner. These results suggest that walnut extract can counteract Aβ-induced oxidative stress and associated cell death

    Burnout among surgeons before and during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic: an international survey

    Background: SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had many significant impacts within the surgical realm, and surgeons have been obligated to reconsider almost every aspect of daily clinical practice. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study reported in compliance with the CHERRIES guidelines and conducted through an online platform from June 14th to July 15th, 2020. The primary outcome was the burden of burnout during the pandemic indicated by the validated Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure. Results: Nine hundred fifty-four surgeons completed the survey. The median length of practice was 10 years; 78.2% included were male with a median age of 37 years old, 39.5% were consultants, 68.9% were general surgeons, and 55.7% were affiliated with an academic institution. Overall, there was a significant increase in the mean burnout score during the pandemic; longer years of practice and older age were significantly associated with less burnout. There were significant reductions in the median number of outpatient visits, operated cases, on-call hours, emergency visits, and research work, so, 48.2% of respondents felt that the training resources were insufficient. The majority (81.3%) of respondents reported that their hospitals were included in the management of COVID-19, 66.5% felt their roles had been minimized; 41% were asked to assist in non-surgical medical practices, and 37.6% of respondents were included in COVID-19 management. Conclusions: There was a significant burnout among trainees. Almost all aspects of clinical and research activities were affected with a significant reduction in the volume of research, outpatient clinic visits, surgical procedures, on-call hours, and emergency cases hindering the training.
