URBAN MUSIC OF ALEXANDRAPOLE AND KOMITAS
The ašugh society in Alexandrapol (now Gyumri) emerged and developed under the immediate effect of historical-cultural processes. This society carried out an important mission with the public acknowledgment it possessed. It was an embodiment of the new qualities in the Armenian national thought in all the spheres of the ašugh school: ideological, propagandistic, music-poetic, etc.Among the songs leaning towards the Near East ašugh traditions that constituted the huge heritage of about forty ašułs, the songs based on Armenian verses display the modal, prosodic and stylistic features of Armenian monodic music. My paper presents the criteria in the song-creation of the ašugh society of Alexandrapol, which are fully in line with Komitas’s fundamental principles of Armenian national song art.

CREATIVITY OF ARMENIAN ASHUGS IN THE CONTEXT OF URBAN CULTURE OF ASTRAKHAN
The article is devoted to the traditions of the center of Armenian ashugs in the city of Astrakhan, where an Armenian community existed in the Middle Ages. The urban cultural environment, where craft workshops and merchant and trading rows functioned, played an important role in the development of professional music of the ashughs. The creativity of the ashughs was very popular and carried sacred features of the national identity of the Armenians. The research was carried out with the financial support of the Higher Education and Science Committee of Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Republic of Armenia. A new exactly integrable hypergeometric potential for the Schr\"odinger equation
We introduce a new exactly integrable potential for the Schr\"odinger
equation for which the solution of the problem may be expressed in terms of the
Gauss hypergeometric functions. This is a potential step with variable height
and steepness. We present the general solution of the problem, discuss the
transmission of a quantum particle above the barrier, and derive explicit
expressions for the reflection and transmission coefficients
Pre-determining the location of electromigrated gaps by nonlinear optical imaging
In this paper we describe a nonlinear imaging method employed to spatially
map the occurrence of constrictions occurring on an electrically-stressed gold
nanowire. The approach consists at measuring the influence of a tightly focused
ultrafast pulsed laser on the electronic transport in the nanowire. We found
that structural defects distributed along the nanowire are efficient nonlinear
optical sources of radiation and that the differential conductance is
significantly decreased when the laser is incident on such electrically-induced
morphological changes. This imaging technique is applied to pre-determined the
location of the electrical failure before it occurs.Comment: 3 figure
Identifying and Disentangling Spurious Features in Pretrained Image Representations
Neural networks employ spurious correlations in their predictions, resulting
in decreased performance when these correlations do not hold. Recent works
suggest fixing pretrained representations and training a classification head
that does not use spurious features. We investigate how spurious features are
represented in pretrained representations and explore strategies for removing
information about spurious features. Considering the Waterbirds dataset and a
few pretrained representations, we find that even with full knowledge of
spurious features, their removal is not straightforward due to entangled
representation. To address this, we propose a linear autoencoder training
method to separate the representation into core, spurious, and other features.
We propose two effective spurious feature removal approaches that are applied
to the encoding and significantly improve classification performance measured
by worst group accuracy
Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence of Chlorophylls in Single Light-Harvesting Complexes
Ensemble and single-molecule spectroscopy demonstrates that both emission and absorption of peridinin−chlorophyll−protein photosynthetic antennae can be largely enhanced through plasmonic interactions. We find up to 18-fold increase of the chlorophyll fluorescence for complexes placed near a silver metal layer. This enhancement, which leaves no measurable effects on the protein structure, is observed when exciting either chlorophyll or carotenoid and is attributed predominantly to an increase of the excitation rate in the antenna. The enhancement mechanism comes from plasmon-induced amplification of electromagnetic fields inside the complex. This result is an important step toward applying plasmonic nanostructures for controlling the optical response of complex biomolecules and improving the design and functioning of artificial light-harvesting systems
