The influence of multiple scattering on the measurement of the circular polarisation of γ-rays
Rental Discrimination in the Multi-ethnic Metropolis: Evidence from Sydney

Investigating differential treatment in rental housing markets is important to ensure that renters are not discriminated against based on their personal characteristics. However, little Australian research has focused systematically on this question. This paper reports the results of a study that used paired tests to estimate the extent of differential treatment of Anglo, Indian, and Muslim Middle Eastern renters in the Sydney metropolitan housing market. We find statistically significant differences in treatment on several measures, including the likelihood an agent will offer an individual appointment, will provide additional information about other housing, will provide additional information about completing the application form, and will contact a prospective renter after an inspection
Characterization of charge collection in CdTe and CZT using the transient current technique
The charge collection properties in different particle sensor materials with
respect to the shape of the generated signals, the electric field within the
detector, the charge carrier mobility and the carrier lifetime are studied with
the transient current technique (TCT). Using the well-known properties of Si as
a reference, the focus is laid on Cadmium-Telluride (CdTe) and
Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride (CZT), which are currently considered as promising
candidates for the efficient detection of X-rays. All measurements are based on
a transient-current technique (TCT) setup, which allows the recording of
current pulses generated by an 241Am alpha-source. These signals will be
interpreted with respect to the build-up of space-charges inside the detector
material and the subsequent deformation of the electric field. Additionally the
influence of different electrode materials (i.e. ohmic or Schottky contacts) on
the current pulse shapes will be treated in the case of CdTe. Finally, the
effects of polarization, i.e. the time-dependent degradation of the detector
signals due to the accumulation of fixed charges within the sensor, are

Li+D Reaction in Pd and Au for 30<E_d<75 keV(I. Nuclear Physics)
Thick target yields of α particles emitted in the ^Li (d, α) ^He reactions in PdLi_x and AuLi_x were measured as a function of the bombarding energy between 30 and 75 keV. It was found that the reaction rate in Pd at lower energies is enhanced strongly over the one predicted by the cross section for the reaction with bare nuclei, but no enhancement is observed in Au. A screening energy is introduced to reproduce the excitation function of the thick target yield for each metal. The deduced value for Pd amounts to 1500±310 eV, whereas it is only 60±150 eV for Au. The enhancement in the Pd case cannot be explained by electron screening alone but suggests the existence of an additional and important mechanism of screening in metal
Weak Interactions Effect on the P-N Mass Splitting and the Principle of Equivalence
The weak interaction contribution to the proton neutron mass difference is
computed using a generalization of Cottingham's formula. When included in the
analysis of the Eotvos experiment, this contribution reduces the bound on a
possible weak interactions violation to the equivalence principle by one order

Parity violation in quasifree electron scattering off the deuteron
For deuteron electroweak disintegration, parity violating effects are
investigated which arise from the interference of and exchange as
well as from the hadronic sector via a small parity violating component in the
deuteron. The general formalism for the differential cross section and
polarization observables of electromagnetic deuteron disintegration is extended
to incorporate parity violating contributions. Formal expressions for the
additional structure functions are derived. Results are presented for these
parity violating structure functions for quasifree kinematics neglecting final
state interaction and two-body effects. Both types of parity violating
contributions to the asymmetry of the inclusive reaction with respect to
longitudinally polarized electrons are evaluated. The one from parity violating
deuteron components is negligible over the whole range of momentum transfers

Effect of recent R_p and R_n measurements on extended Gari-Krumpelmann model fits to nucleon electromagnetic form factors
The Gari-Krumpelmann (GK) models of nucleon electromagnetic form factors, in
which the rho, omega, and phi vector meson pole contributions evolve at high
momentum transfer to conform to the predictions of perturbative QCD (pQCD), was
recently extended to include the width of the rho meson by substituting the
result of dispersion relations for the pole and the addition of rho' (1450)
isovector vector meson pole. This extended model was shown to produce a good
overall fit to all the available nucleon electromagnetic form factor (emff)
data. Since then new polarization data shows that the electric to magnetic
ratios R_p and R_n obtained are not consistent with the older G_{Ep} and G_{En}
data in their range of momentum transfer. The model is further extended to
include the omega' (1419) isoscalar vector meson pole. It is found that while
this GKex cannot simultaneously fit the new R_p and the old G_{En} data, it can
fit the new R_p and R_n well simultaneously. An excellent fit to all the
remaining data is obtained when the inconsistent G_{Ep} and G_{En} is omitted.
The model predictions are shown up to momentum transfer squared, Q^2, of 8

Consistent Treatment of Relativistic Effects in Electrodisintegration of the Deuteron
The influence of relativistic contributions to deuteron electrodisintegration
is systematically studied in various kinematic regions of energy and momentum
transfer. As theoretical framework the equation-of-motion and the unitarily
equivalent S-matrix approaches are used. In a (p/M)-expansion, all leading
order relativistic -exchange contributions consistent with the Bonn OBEPQ
model are included. In addition, static heavy meson exchange currents including
boost terms, -currents, and -isobar contributions
are considered. Sizeable effects from the various relativistic two-body
contributions, mainly from -exchange, have been found in inclusive form
factors and exclusive structure functions for a variety of kinematic regions.Comment: 41 pages revtex including 15 postscript figure
