Background: Several different strategies have been reported for the treatment of chondromyxoid fibromas, all with variable outcomes and high recurrence rates. Methods: We report on 22 consecutive cases of chondromyxoid fibromas treated by intralesional curettage, four of which had adjuvant cementation at our institution between 2003 and 2010. We assessed the functional outcome using the Musculoskeletal Tumour Society (MSTS) scoring system. Results: Nine males and 16 females with a mean age of 36.5 years (range 11 to 73) and a mean follow-up of 60.7 months were included in the study. Local recurrence occurred in two patients (9%) within the first 2 years following the index procedure. This was treated by re-curettage only of the residual defect. Two postoperative complications occurred: a superficial wound infection in one patient and a transient deep peroneal nerve neurapraxia in the other. The mean postoperative MSTS score was 96.7%. Conclusions: Intralesional curettage and cementation is as an effective treatment strategy for chondromyxoid fibromas, providing satisfactory functional results with a low recurrence rate. Careful case selection with stringent clinical and radiographic follow-up is recommended

A Fractional LC − RC Circuit

Mathematics Subject Classification: 26A33, 30B10, 33B15, 44A10, 47N70, 94C05We suggest a fractional differential equation that combines the simple harmonic oscillations of an LC circuit with the discharging of an RC circuit. A series solution is obtained for the suggested fractional differential equation. When the fractional order α = 0, we get the solution for the RC circuit, and when α = 1, we get the solution for the LC circuit. For arbitrary α we get a general solution which shows how the oscillatory behavior (LC circuit) go over to a decay behavior (RC circuit) as grows from 0 to 1, and vice versa. An explanation of the behavior is proposed based on the idea of the evolution of a resistive property in the inductor giving a new value to the inductance that affects the frequency of the oscillator

We have studied polarized electron collisions with Ar in which the target is simultaneously ionized and excited to form Ar+(3p4(1D)4p) states. We measured the integrated Stokes parameters of the subsequent fluorescence emitted by the 2F7/2, 2F5/2, 2D5/2, and 2P3/2 states along the direction of electron polarization. The Rubin-Bederson hypothesis is shown to hold for the L and S multipoles of these states. The electric quadrupole and hexadecapole of the 1D core are derived. By recoupling these moments with the electric quadrupole moment of the 4p electron, we calculate higher moments of the total ionic orbital angular momentum, including its hexacontatetrapole (64-pole) moment

We have investigated collisions between transversely polarized electrons and Ar, in which the Ar is simultaneously ionized and excited to the Ar+*[3p4(+D)4p] states. The Stokes parameters of the fluorescence emitted in the following transitions was measured: (+D)4s 2D/2−(1D)4p 2F7/2 (461.0 nm), (1D)4s 2D5/2 −(1D)4p 2F5/2 (463.7 nm), (1P)3d 2D5/2−(1D)4p 2D5/2 (448.2 nm), and (1D)4s 2D3/2−(1D)4p 2P3/2 (423.7 nm). We develop the angular momentum algebra necessary to extract from these data, starting from the overall atomic J multipoles, the partitioning of orbital angular momentum into the 1D core electric quadrupole and hexadecapole moments, and the outer 4p electric quadrupole moment. The magnetic dipole of the outer electron is also determined. This procedure requires the assumption of good LS coupling for these states, which is justified. We recouple these individual core- and outer-electron moments to calculate the initial electric quadrupoles, hexadecapoles, and hexacontatetrapoles of the initial excited-state manifold. The detailed time structure of the electron-atom collision is considered, as well as the time evolution of the excited ionic state. The Rubin-Bederson hypothesis is thus shown to hold for the initial ionic L and S terms. The consequences of the breakdown of LS coupling are considered. From the circular polarization data, estimates of the relative importance of direct and exchange excitation cross section are made. We discuss experimental issues related to background contributions, Hanle depolarization of the fluorescence signal, and cascade contributions. Nonlinearity of the equations relating the Stokes parameters to the subshell multipole moments complicates the data analysis. Details of the Monte Carlo terrain-search algorithm used to extract multipole data is discussed, and the implications of correlation between the various subshell multipole moments is analyzed. The physical significance of the higher-order multipole moments is discussed, and graphical representations of the effects of these multipoles on the excited ionic charge clouds is presented

The dermatological preparations consist of simple or compounded bases in which one or more active ingredients are dissolved or suspended .The plant Aloe vera is widely distributed in Iraq, in addition to it's tranditional use in the treatment of occasional constipation , it is also used to assist healing of wounds ,burns and psoriasis. In this study; the amount of aloin (the major component of the plant) in the dried juice of the Iraqi plant Aloe vera is determined and was found to be 15.4% w/w and it is the major compound responsible for the antimicrobial activity of the plant. Different ointment bases were used in this study to prepare topical preparations from the dried juice of the Iraqi plant with different concentrations and were found that 4%w/w sodium carboxy methyl cellulose gel base was the best formula using comparative diffusion study through the skin. The clinical study which is carried out in this research on 61 patients with skin infections (mainly Tinea corporis and Tinea cruris) showed that 4%w/w gel base formula of aloe gave significant improvement in comparison with those treated with nystatin and hydrocortison and proved the antipruritic and antiinflammatory action of the dried juice of the Iraqi plant Aloe vera without any adverse effect. Finally the expiration date of aloin in the selected formula is determined and was found to be ≈ 2 years

Fuzzy Logic Based Self-Adaptive Handover Algorithm for MobileWiMAX.

It is well known that WiMAX is a broadband technology that is capable of delivering triple play (voice, data, and video) services. However, mobility in WiMAX system is still a main issue when the mobile station (MS) moves across the base station (BS) coverage and be handed over between BSs. Among the challenging issues in mobile WiMAX handover are unnecessary handover, handover failure and handover delay, which may affect real-time applications. The conventional handover decision algorithm in mobile WiMAX is based on a single criterion, which usually uses the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) as an indicator, with the other fixed handover parameters such as handover threshold and handover margin. In this paper, a fuzzy logic based self-adaptive handover (FuzSAHO) algorithm is introduced. The proposed algorithm is derived from the self-adaptive handover parameters to overcome the mobile WiMAX ping-pong handover and handover delay issues. Hence, the proposed FuzSAHO is initiated to check whether a handover is necessary or not which depends on its fuzzy logic stage. The proposed FuzSAHO algorithm will first self-adapt the handover parameters based on a set of multiple criteria, which includes the RSSI and MS velocity. Then the handover decision will be executed according to the handover parameter values. Simulation results show that the proposed FuzSAHO algorithm reduces the number of ping-pong handover and its delay. When compared with RSSI based handover algorithm and mobility improved handover (MIHO) algorithm, respectively, FuzSAHO reduces the number of handovers by 12.5 and 7.5 %, respectively, when the MS velocity is <17 m/s. In term of handover delay, the proposed FuzSAHO algorithm shows an improvement of 27.8 and 8 % as compared to both conventional and MIHO algorithms, respectively. Thus, the proposed multi-criteria with fuzzy logic based self-adaptive handover algorithm called FuzSAHO, outperforms both conventional and MIHO handover algorithms
