The Role of Value Stream Mapping in Healthcare Services: A Scoping Review
[EN] Lean healthcare aims to manage and improve the processes in the healthcare sector by eliminating everything that adds no value by improving quality of services, ensuring patient safety and facilitating health professionals' work to achieve a flexible and reliable organization. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is considered the starting point of any lean implementation. Some papers report applications of VSM in healthcare services, but there has been less attention paid to their contribution on sustainability indicators. The purpose of this work is to analyze the role of VSM in this context. To do so, a scoping review of works from recent years (2015 to 2019) was done. The results show that most applications of VSM reported are in the tertiary level of care, and the United States of America (USA) is the country which leads most of the applications published. In relation with the development of VSM, a heterogeneity in the maps and the sustainability indicators is remarkable. Moreover, only operational and social sustainability indicators are commonly included. We can conclude that more standardization is required in the development of the VSM in the healthcare sector, also including the environmental indicators.Marin-Garcia, JA.; Vidal-Carreras, PI.; García Sabater, JJ. Changes in the Proteome Profile of People Achieving Remission of Type 2 Diabetes after Bariatric Surgery
From MDPI via Jisc Publications RouterHistory: accepted 2021-08-17, pub-electronic 2021-08-18Publication status: PublishedBariatric surgery (BS) results in metabolic pathway recalibration. We have identified potential biomarkers in plasma of people achieving type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remission after BS. Longitudinal analysis was performed on plasma from 10 individuals following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (n = 7) or sleeve gastrectomy (n = 3). Sequential window acquisition of all theoretical fragment ion spectra mass spectrometry (SWATH-MS) was done on samples taken at 4 months before (baseline) and 6 and 12 months after BS. Four hundred sixty-seven proteins were quantified by SWATH-MS. Principal component analysis resolved samples from distinct time points after selection of key discriminatory proteins: 25 proteins were differentially expressed between baseline and 6 months post-surgery; 39 proteins between baseline and 12 months. Eight proteins (SHBG, TF, PRG4, APOA4, LRG1, HSPA4, EPHX2 and PGLYRP) were significantly different to baseline at both 6 and 12 months post-surgery. The panel of proteins identified as consistently different included peptides related to insulin sensitivity (SHBG increase), systemic inflammation (TF and HSPA4—both decreased) and lipid metabolism (APOA4 decreased). We found significant changes in the proteome for eight proteins at 6- and 12-months post-BS, and several of these are key components in metabolic and inflammatory pathways. These may represent potential biomarkers of remission of T2DM
This research work was carried out in the city of Iquitos, department of Loreto - Peru. Its objectives are to determine if visual pollution influences the stage or phases of development of stress in people and as a hypothesis of the research was that the state of stress significantly influences the stage of stress in people, we worked with a sample of 197 people and the research design was descriptive correlational. The study population was the shreds and avenues of Iquitos such as Jr. Prospero, Abtao, Moore, Bolognesi, Fanning, Ramon Castilla, Libertad and Av. Abelando Quiñones, December 9th. Ricardo Palma, Morona, Sergeant Lores, Putumayo. It was carried out in people over 18 years of age and of different genders who travel and work in the different companies in the environment, surveys and questionnaires were used as an instrument.
The results report that visual contamination by electrical cables, telephone cables and cable television influence the state of physical stress of people, as well as psychological and psychopathological states, a valid statement with up to 99% confidence. Even visual contamination by advertising panels significantly influences the state of psychological stress, a statement valid with up to 95% confidence. With these results we contrast the research hypothesis raised at the beginning
