In this study, it was aimed to investigate surface hardness, gloss, and color changes of Scots pine treated with chemicals containing some copper compounds after six months weathering. Adolit KD-5 (AD KD-5), celcure AC-500 (CAC-500), and wolmanit CX-8 (WCX-8) were used as impregnation chemicals containing copper compounds. Scots pine wood specimens were treated with 2 % aqueous solution of chemicals according to ASTM D1413-07e1 (2007) standard. Results showed that while surface hardness and gloss values of untreated Scots pine wood specimens were decreased after weathering, they increased treated Scots pine wood specimens after weathering. The decrease in L* of untreated and treated wood indicates that the specimens became darker after weathering. While weathering caused less green and less yellow for untreated control specimen, it caused less red and less yellow for treated wood. Treated Scots pine wood specimens showed better color stability compared to untreated Scots pine after weathering. In terms of surface hardness, gloss, and color stability values CAC-500 treated Scots pine gave the best results after weathering

Objective:The aim of this study is to evaluate smoothed cepstral peak point and laryngostrobosopic results in patients who underwent supraglottic laryngectomy.Method:Ten patients who underwent transcervical supraglottic laryngectomy with bilateral modified radical neck dissection, and who completed at least 12 months of follow-up, were included. All patients underwent laryngostroboscopic evaluation at study commencement; glottal closure and mucosal wave pattern were examined. Voice records were taken at fundamental frequency and smoothed cepstral peak point were analysed. Voice handicap index-10 was requested to be completed. Ten healthy individual constituted control group. Results were compared. Results:The mean smoothed cepstral peak points were 1.53-5.91 in the supraglottic laryngectomy group and 4.6-6.06 in controls, a significant difference. The fundamental frequency ranged from 174.49 to 197.25 Hz in the supraglottic laryngectomy group and from 118.57 to 197.61 Hz in the control group, also a significant difference. Laryngostroboscopic evaluation revealed no significant between-group differences in closure, but the mucosal waves differed significantly. Voice handicap index was significantly lower in supraglottic laryngectomy patients. Conclusion:Supraglottic laryngectomy reduces smoothed cepstral peak point and affects the mucosal wave, reducing voice quality

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma of the left thigh: a rare case

PubMed: 31391701Introduction: Liposarcoma is generally classified into four subtypes: a) well-differentiated liposarcoma/atypical lipomatous tumor, b) dedifferentiated liposarcoma, c) myxoid/round cell liposarcoma, and d) pleomorphic liposarcoma. Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is mostly seen in the region of retroperitoneum. Aim: To present a case of dedifferentiated liposarcoma in a rare site of location: the lower extremity. Case Report: A 24-year-old woman presented with a firm painful mass, 3x2 cm in diameter on the medial side of left thigh. MRI demonstrated a lesion on that location showing low signal intensity on T1-wieghted and high signal intensity on T2A-wieghted sequences. After an excisional biopsy the histopathological examination via Haematoxylin and Eosin firstly revealed the diagnosis of malign undifferentiated tumor. The results of immunohistochemical evaluations were as follows: SMA (-), HMB45 (-), S100 (+, focally), Desmin (-), Vimentin (+, focally), CD68 (+, focally), CD34 (-), LCA (-), and Inhibin (-). The final histopathological diagnosis was dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Conclusions: In English-language literature data for dedifferentiated liposarcoma of the lower extremities are very restricted. Although imaging with CT and MRI, the final and distinct diagnosis is made immunohistochemically. A clinician should be aware of the presence of a dedifferentiated liposarcoma within a mass on the lower extremities

International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Data Processing (IDAP) -- SEP 28-30, 2018 -- Inonu Univ, Malatya, TURKEYWOS:000458717400143In recent years, deep neural network (DNN) has been frequently used for classification. In this study, iris flowers having 3 different types are classified by using DNN which are utilized the width and length of petal and sepal features as input. Some experiments are made for the iris dataset by using different activation functions and different epoch numbers. Then, the activation function which gives the best result is determined. The classification success of the developed model is achieved 96% for the iris dataset.Inonu Univ, Comp Sci Dept, IEEE Turkey Sect, Anatolian Sc
