Current Awareness als bibliothekarische Dienstleistung am Beispiel des Suchportals ALBERT

Für erfolgreich betriebene Wissenschaft ist es unerlässlich, als Forschender auf seinem Fachgebiet die neuesten Entwicklungen zu verfolgen. Dafür bietet Current Awareness (CA) Wissenschaftlern eine Reihe von kommerziellen Services und Dienstleistungen an, aber auch Alternativen wie das Suchportal ALBERT. Mit dieser Arbeit wird die Funktion von ALBERT als CA-Service hinsichtlich Aktualität und Informationsbedarf von Wissenschaftlern untersucht. Der erste Teil der Arbeit vergleicht die Erfassungsgeschwindigkeit von Metadaten von Artikeln in ALBERT mit den etablierten Datenbanken Web of Science, Scopus und PubMed. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werden auf Grundlage von Experteninterviews Aspekte ausgewertet und diskutiert, die in Zusammenhang mit dem Stellenwert von CA in der aktuellen Forschung und einer bibliothekarischen Dienstleistung dazu stehen. Komplettiert wird die Arbeit mit einer Auseinandersetzung der technischen Dimension un der Metadatenqualität eines CA-Services

Transform2Open — Cost monitoring, criteria, competencies, and processes of the Open Access transformation

The Transform2Open project addresses the development of budgets,criteria, competencies, and related processes in research-performing organizations around the financial dimensions of the Open Access (OA) transformation. Transform2Open organizes dialogue forums and at the same timed develops recommendations for strategies, concepts, and measures to shape the OA transformation at universities and non-university research institutions. Topics of the project include: Improvement and development of cost control methods; promoting the interaction of library budgets, third-party funding, and other financial resources in research institutions in order to create an information budget; developing recommendations for contracts with publishers; optimization of workflows for handling publications and related metadata and invoices; promoting transparency in the financial framework for the transformation towards OA; and determining the competence profiles of professionals involved in the transformation towards OA in research institutions. Transform2Open has been approved by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2022 and will formally commence in 2023. Partnersof the project are the Central Library of Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Helmholtz Association's Open Science Office, and the University Library at the University of Potsdam. The DFG-funded Transform2Open project addresses the development of budgets, criteria, competencies, and related processes at research-performing organizations around the financial dimensions of the Open Access transformation.The Transform2Open project supports transformation activities at research institutions in Germany through the following actions:(1) Improving and further developing cost monitoring; (2) promoting the interplay of library budgets, third-party funding, and other financial resources at research institutions to create overarching information budgets; (3) further development of criteria for contracts with commercial publication service providers, optimizing workflows around the handling of publications and associated metadata and invoices; (4) promoting transparency around the financial framework of the OA transformation and identifying organizational structures and (5) competence profiles for professionals involved in Open Access transformation at research institutions.Transform2Open organizes dialog forums and develops actions of recommendation for strategies, concepts, and measures for shaping the Open Access transformation at universities and non-university research institutions.The project ensures the successful interaction of various transformative efforts with the DEAL project and other initiatives and projects in Germany.Partners of the Transform2Open project are the Central Library of Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Helmholtz Association's Open Science Office, and the Potsdam University Library

Transform2Open - Vernetzung in der Open Access Transformation

Die Präsentation bildet die Grundlage für einen Beitrag auf der BiblioCon 2023, Slot: Wissenschaftliches Publizieren und Open Access am 24.05.2023. Die Open-Access-Transformation kann nur kooperativ gestaltet werden. Das DFG-Projekt Transform2Open widmet sich der Weiterentwicklung von Budgets, Kriterien, Kompetenzen und damit verbundenen Prozessen an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen rund um die finanziellen Dimensionen der Open-Access-Transformation. Anliegen des Projektes ist es, Transformationsaktivitäten an Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen in Deutschland zu unterstützen. In der praktischen Umsetzung adressiert das Projekte folgende Aspekte: (1) Verbesserung und Weiterentwicklung des Kostenmonitorings; (2) Förderung des Zusammenspiels von Bibliotheksetats, Drittmitteln und weiteren Finanzmitteln an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen zur Schaffung von übergreifenden Informationsbudgets; (3) Weiterentwicklung und Internationalisierung von Kriterien für Verträge mit kommerziellen Publikationsdienstleistern; (4) Optimierung von Arbeitsabläufen rund um den Umgang mit Publikationen sowie den zugehörigen Metadaten und Rechnungen; (5) Förderung von Transparenz rund um die finanziellen Rahmenbedingungen der Open-Access-Transformation sowie (6) Eruierung von Organisationsstrukturen und Kompetenzprofilen für Personen, die an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen mit der Open-Access-Transformation befasst sind. Transform2Open organisiert Dialogforen, in denen Strategien sowie Konzepte und Maßnahmen zur Gestaltung der Open-Access-Transformation an Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen erarbeitet werden.
