An Empirical Study on the Enterprise Cloud Service Adoption
Enterprise cloud service is a new IS paradigm which allows the storage of data, application software, and even operating platform over the Internet so that a corporation can use them at any time and at any place. It differs from the conventional information systems in that it doesn’t require the companies to build up their own IS resource by allowing them to lease it over the Internet. With this innovative service offering, many companies have expressed much interest to adopt cloud services in practice. However, their apparent adoption behaviors appear to be quite inconsistent. This seemingly comes from the fact that cloud service is not a single product, but a set of different service provisioning options which have different incentives and risks to adopt. This paper configures what kind of service provisioning options are relevant to the true adoption intent of the enterprises and investigates how the intention to adopt differs among various service provisioning options. An integrated research model is set up with the concepts of IS maturity and outsourcing, and tested with the data collected from about two hundred SMEs. From the empirical study, it is found that perceived benefit and risk is differently affecting on the adoption intent, and the conceived conflict between high IS maturity level, especially with high IS infra asset, is negatively affecting on the adoption intent with some cloud service provisioning options
Healthy Seniors: Supporting Chronic Condition Management Through Educational and Motivational Materials.
Within the United States, the older adult population is rising and facing a growing number of chronic conditions (Mirza et al., 2020). Chronic conditions are associated with an increase in hospitalizations, functional decline, and healthcare spending. Largely, chronic conditions are managed under primary care physicians and treatment is not put into place until an exacerbation and hospitalization occurs (Mirza et al., 2020). Thus, a cruel cycle is created in which an individual undergoes functional decline, worsening of the condition, and decreasing quality of life and well-being. The older adult population wishes to age in place and manage their health; however, are not provided materials and resources to do so until an exacerbation occurs (Elliot, 2019). Although online resources exist through patient portals, older adults lack the confidence to access and apply them (Theisen et al., 2021). Purpose: To develop evidence-based educational materials for older adults to use to maintain independence and improve quality of life. Additionally, work to incorporate motivational factors for residents to self-manage their help.https://soar.usa.edu/otdcapstonesfall2023/1008/thumbnail.jp
Korean Prisoners of War in the Honouliuli Internment Camp, 1943-1946
Honouliuli, near the town of Waipahu on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu, is best known as a World War II internment camp for Japanese Americans. The camp also was the home of approximately 2,700 Korean prisoners of war from 1943 to 1945. These were largely non-combatant civilian laborers who had been forced to work for the war effort by the Japanese colonial government in Korea and were captured during the Pacific islands campaign. This document is based on a list published as an attachment to the December 15, 1945, issue of a newsletter produced in the camp titled Free Press Korean for Liberated Korea (자유한인보). It was transcribed from a copy of the newsletter in the National Archives of Korea and romanized versions of the names added by Juhee Lee.Korean American Foundatio
Intraoperative Transient Left Bundle Branch Block Under General Anesthesia
Influence of halloysite nanotubes hybridized with kenaf core fibers on the physical and mechanical properties of low density polyethylene/thermoplastic sago starch blends
In this work, halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were hybridized with kenaf core fibers (KCF) to reinforce low density polyethylene (LDPE)/ thermoplastic sago starch (TPSS) blends. The effects of HNT loading (3–15wt.%) on the mechanical and physical properties were examined. The results showed an enhancement in tensile strength and modulus with the inclusion of HNTs. Formation of FTIR bands that are assigned to Al-OH and Si-O vibrations indicated the presence of HNTs in the system. Moreover, the thermal stability of hybrid compo- sites was improved with the addition of HNTs. Water uptake decreased as higher amount of HNTs imparted to the hybrid composites
Coronary artery dissection after blunt chest trauma.
Blunt thoracic trauma may result in cardiac injuries ranging from simple arrhythmias to fatal cardiac rupture. Coronary artery dissection culminating in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is rare after blunt chest trauma. Here we report a case of a 37-year-old man who had an AMI secondary to coronary dissection resulting from blunt chest trauma after involvement in a physical fight
Anatomical variant origin of suprarenal arteries from coeliac trunk development, and its clinical significance
Background: One of the most vascular organ in the body Adrenal gland being highly variant in vasculature and tough to approach, its knowledge needs to be updated regularly. Anatomists, Surgeons and Radiologists will be benefitted with this study and improves the quality of care provided to patients by reducing morbidity and mortality. Methods: This study was done on 48 formalin fixed cadavers (33 males, 15 females) in the department of anatomy, between 2014-2019. Coeliac trunk was skeletonized, and branches traced looking for suprarenal arterial branches. Results: Superior Suprarenal Artery originated from Inferior phrenic artery in 13(27%) cases, and these Inferior phrenic arteries were arising from the Coeliac trunk, and in one (2.03%) case Superior suprarenal artery was arising directly from Coeliac trunk and which had even replaced the Middle Suprarenal Artery. None of the Middle and Inferior Suprarenal Artery came from coeliac trunk. Conclusions: Knowledge of Superior Suprarenal Arterial variations while doing surgeries, and during radiological interventions in and around the lesser sac, and involving the Coeliac trunk helps the clinicians in reducing the morbidity and mortality
Is Cross-modal Information Retrieval Possible without Training?
Encoded representations from a pretrained deep learning model (e.g., BERT
text embeddings, penultimate CNN layer activations of an image) convey a rich
set of features beneficial for information retrieval. Embeddings for a
particular modality of data occupy a high-dimensional space of its own, but it
can be semantically aligned to another by a simple mapping without training a
deep neural net. In this paper, we take a simple mapping computed from the
least squares and singular value decomposition (SVD) for a solution to the
Procrustes problem to serve a means to cross-modal information retrieval. That
is, given information in one modality such as text, the mapping helps us locate
a semantically equivalent data item in another modality such as image. Using
off-the-shelf pretrained deep learning models, we have experimented the
aforementioned simple cross-modal mappings in tasks of text-to-image and
image-to-text retrieval. Despite simplicity, our mappings perform reasonably
well reaching the highest accuracy of 77% on recall@10, which is comparable to
those requiring costly neural net training and fine-tuning. We have improved
the simple mappings by contrastive learning on the pretrained models.
Contrastive learning can be thought as properly biasing the pretrained encoders
to enhance the cross-modal mapping quality. We have further improved the
performance by multilayer perceptron with gating (gMLP), a simple neural
architecture
