During the Spring 2019 semester, Dr. Noah Asher Golden\u27s Teaching of Writing K-12 students partnered with the Journalism class at Yorba Academy for the Arts. Through collaboration over a four-month period, Chapman\u27s future teachers and Yorba\u27s junior high journalists engaged a deep writing process to write a series of features, editorials, and news articles related to a number of global issues. Thank you to Principal Preciado-Martin, former principal Tracy Knibb, Mrs. Andrea Lopez, Mrs. Kori Shelton, and the Lloyd E. and Elisabeth H. Klein Family Foundation for supporting this project.https://digitalcommons.chapman.edu/yorba-chapman/1004/thumbnail.jp

It is important to diagnose a difference in size between the maxilla and the mandible, in patients on growth, this allows us to make a timely intervention and redirect growth, functional appliances are a good choice for these cases. The patient's age was 12 years, 5 months, She was diagnosed with a biotype dolichofacial, class II skeletal and dental; inclination of upper incisors and lower with an overbite and overjet augmented, the treatment was with orthopedic phase. The results obtained were dental, skeletal and profile, the teeth had a superior retroclination, decreased overbite horizontal and vertical. he skeletal changes were: the jaw had an increase in length and maxilla descended staying sagitally, and slightly changed the direction of growth. In profile, there was a noticeable change in the reduction of facial convexity. Panoramic radiography shows hypertrophic turbinate so referred to the Otolaryngologist. In the analysis of posture was found a decrease in anterior rotation of the skull, decrease of cervical lordosis and more superior position of the hyoid. The use of Bionator during the growth stage may change the growth.

Parallel Crossed Chaotic Encryption for Hyperspectral Images

Hyperspectral images (HI) collect information from across the electromagnetic spectrum, and they are an essential tool for identifying materials, recognizing processes and finding objects. However, the information on an HI could be sensitive and must to be protected. Although there are many encryption schemes for images and raw data, there are not specific schemes for HI. In this paper, we introduce the idea of crossed chaotic systems and we present an ad hoc parallel crossed chaotic encryption algorithm for HI, in which we take advantage of the multidimensionality nature of the HI. Consequently, we obtain a faster encryption algorithm and with a higher entropy result than others state of the art chaotic schemes

Optimization of Parameters in the Generalized Extreme-Value Distribution Type 1 for Three Populations Using Harmonic Search

Due to its geographical position, Mexico is exposed annually to cold fronts and tropical cyclones, registering extremely high values that are atypical in the series of maximum annual flows. Univariate mixed probability distribution functions have been developed based on the theory of extreme values, which require techniques to determine their parameters. Therefore, this paper explores a function that considers three populations to analyze maximum annual flows. According to the structure of the Generalized Extreme-Value Distribution (GEV), the simultaneous definition of nine parameters is required: three of location, three of scale, and three of probability of occurrence. Thus, the use of a meta-heuristic technique was proposed (harmonic search). The precision of the adjustment was increased through the optimization of the parameters, and with it came a reduction in the uncertainty of the forecast, particularly for cyclonic events. It is concluded that the use of an extreme value distribution (Type I) structured with three populations and accompanied by the technique of harmonic search improves the performance in respect to classic techniques for the determination of its parameters

It was a descriptive research, observational and transversal study in 500 models prior to orthodontic treatment, for patients registered from 2000 to 2010 in the Posgrade Orthodontic Clinic of the Academic Unit of Dentistry, Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit, which were measured in transverse distances between the first premolars, second premolars and first molars, with an electronic caliper, according to the benchmarks established by Mayoral. There were also gender and age. The statistical analysis was used a t test, where p=<.05 found a statistically significant difference between the population and the measures introduced by the author referred. It was noted that the transversal dimensions of dental arch in the females are smaller, and in males, higher than those reported by Mayoral. No differences were found in relation to age.
