Limits of permutation sequences
A permutation sequence is said to be convergent if the density of occurrences
of every fixed permutation in the elements of the sequence converges. We prove
that such a convergent sequence has a natural limit object, namely a Lebesgue
measurable function with the additional properties that,
for every fixed , the restriction is a cumulative
distribution function and, for every , the restriction
satisfies a "mass" condition. This limit process is well-behaved:
every function in the class of limit objects is a limit of some permutation
sequence, and two of these functions are limits of the same sequence if and
only if they are equal almost everywhere. An ingredient in the proofs is a new
model of random permutations, which generalizes previous models and might be
interesting for its own sake.Comment: accepted for publication in the Journal of Combinatorial Theory,

Validity in Qualitative Research: A Processual Approach
Validity and reliability of research and its results are important elements to provide evidence of the quality of research in the organizational field. However, validity is better evidenced in quantitative studies than in qualitative research studies. As there is diversity within qualitative research methods and techniques, there is no universally accepted criteria to assess validity in qualitative studies; its usefulness is also questioned. Therefore, in this paper, we argue that qualitative research should adopt a processual view approach of validity since it should not be the product of a single test or just one step in the research. Processual validity both supports good research and helps in its reflection and guidance. To illustrate our approach, we present the processual approach adopted by one of the coauthors during the development of a research project. We highlight the validity assurance activities for both ex ante and ex post research, peer review and participation in an international conference, which corroborated the quality of the processual approach and the results that were obtained
A DIMENSÃO SOCIAL NO ALINHAMENTO ESTRATÉGICO ENTRE NEGÓCIO E TI
Many studies on strategic alignment seek to test models and measure their effectiveness and their impact on organizations. They however fail to understand how the alignment is established and how the social dimension – a set formed by the organizational structure and actors, their relationships and their praxis – is a part of this process. This study adopted scoping literature review as a methodology to analyze, from the perspective of strategy as practice, the social dimension in the strategic alignment process. The purpose was to obtain a research agenda composed by research propositions. The authors hope that these propositions, once subjected to empirical research, contribute to strengthen the understanding of the social dimension in the strategic alignment process from a theoretical and a practical perspective.
