The formation of the innovation-based economy β that is based on knowledge β leads to the dependence of economic and social progress on the level and quality of population professional education. The requirements of the knowledge-based economy for the level and quality of the developing human capital define the aims of education system. Effective collaboration of higher education with business sector can be a stimulus on the way to the modern innovation-based economy.The subject of this research is the processes that are going on in the modern technical education in Russia, on the example of Moscow Technological University. The task of this research is to estimate and analyze modern tendencies in the Russian higher education system such as renewal of the education system, the universities consolidation, the massification, the change in fee-paid education, the switch in education technologies and appearance of the new forms of education.Methodology. The research is based on the analysis of time dynamics of the statistics.Results. The conducted analysis of statistic data dynamics on the example of Moscow technological University has shown that the stimulation of collaboration of educational institutions with potential employers contributes to the increase if effectiveness of education, the development of joint educational programmes with business partners on the basis of the base departments adapt students to the work on modern high-tech enterprises.Practical implications. The results of the research can be applied in social and economic spheres, in social and education policies, also can be used for increasing the effectiveness of universitiesβ performance and of the system of education in general, including continuous education
The State of the Art in Cartograms
Cartograms combine statistical and geographical information in thematic maps,
where areas of geographical regions (e.g., countries, states) are scaled in
proportion to some statistic (e.g., population, income). Cartograms make it
possible to gain insight into patterns and trends in the world around us and
have been very popular visualizations for geo-referenced data for over a
century. This work surveys cartogram research in visualization, cartography and
geometry, covering a broad spectrum of different cartogram types: from the
traditional rectangular and table cartograms, to Dorling and diffusion
cartograms. A particular focus is the study of the major cartogram dimensions:
statistical accuracy, geographical accuracy, and topological accuracy. We
review the history of cartograms, describe the algorithms for generating them,
and consider task taxonomies. We also review quantitative and qualitative
evaluations, and we use these to arrive at design guidelines and research
challenges
