DESIGNING AND MODELLING COAST MANAGEMENT GIS FOR BOSPHORUS

    No full text
Web based geographic information systems (GIS) has great potential based on developments in internet and web technology. Web based GIS is a network based tool that takes advantage of internet with visualizing, analysing and accessing of distributed data and analysis functions. With the length of 30 kilometres, the Bosphorus provides an essential zone that offers great maritime traffic services. This shipping way which connects The Black Sea and The Mediterranean Sea through The Marmara Sea, has no alternative and it is substantial for economies of Black Sea countries. The Bosphorus is one of most important natural straits in the world handling 150 transit ships, 23 freighters with dangerous cargo and 2500 local transport ships with 2 million passengers on daily basis. In this study, it is aimed to create a web based GIS application for an effective coast management which includes berthing factors (anchorage areas, currents, submerged, etc.), maritime traffic factors (traffic separation schemes, traffic flow directions), closed areas and other factors (lighthouses, buoys, beacons, etc.) by digitizing printed navigation charts produced by Turkish Naval Forces, Office of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography

Synthesis of highly branched conducting polymer architecture for electrochromic applications

Electrochromic materials have attracted enormous attention due to their potential applications, such as low-power displays, smart windows for energy efficient buildings, electrochromic e-skins, self-dimming rear mirrors for automobiles and so on. Synthetic strategies of new materials for electrochromic are believed to be the key factors that will help to significantly improve the electrochromic performance and extend their application areas. In this account, we designed and synthesized a novel star shape dithienylpyrrole derivative, namely N1,N3,N5-tris(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide (TCA), to obtain high optical and electrical performance as functional electrochromic material. After electrochemical polymerization of the TCA, the polymer shows superior optical and electrical properties due to its more conjugated unique three-dimensional shape and highly-branched structure in comparison with its linear counterparts. It has been determined that optical properties and long term electrochromic stability of pTCA are the best among the PSNS derivatives in the literature after evaluating its electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical and EQCM experiment results. © 2017 Elsevier Lt

    Derivative and Its Copolymer

Since the discovery of conductive polymers, one of the most promising innovations in the field of polymer chemistry, these materials have been used in many practical applications. However, new monomers are being designed to overcome some of the disadvantages of conductive polymers, such as their inherent stability, low optical and electrical properties. It is known that minor arrangement on the monomer structure lead to very large changes in the polymer properties. In this study, a thienyl pyrrole monomer, one of the most studied monomers in the field of conductive polymers, has been produced using hydrazine derivatives instead of amines. For this purpose, the model monomer, N-phenyl-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-amine, was synthesized and the optical, electrochemical and electrochromic properties of its conductive polymer were investigated. Furthermore, copolymer studies with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) have been done to emphasize the importance of copolymerization on electrochromic properties of the conducting polymers. Effects of the feed ratio of the monomers and applied potential for copolymerization on optical and electrochemical properties of the electrochemically synthesized copolymers were investigated in detail. PubMedID: 19507667Endosulfan is an organochloride insecticide, widely used in insect control. It is responsible for many severe intoxication and several deaths. We present a case series of endosulfan poisoning, admitted to our emergency department with different clinical courses. Two patients presented with status epilepticus and were successfully treated with thiopental sodium to control seizures. One patient required also hemodialysis. All patients were discharged following a complete recovery of their health. Endosulfan is a highly toxic insecticide that produces tonic-clonic convulsions, headache, dizziness and ataxia. It can cause also life threatening metabolic disturbances. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive

Synthesis of novel purpald (4-amino-5-hydrazino-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol) containing 2,5-di(2-thienyl)pyrrole (TPTP) derivative monomer has been successfully achieved. Its functional conductive polymer (pTPTP) obtained electrochemically has been characterized and electrooptical properties have been investigated. In this way, multifunctional conductive polymer film has been formed by means of advanced functionalization of thiol and amine group on the polymeric backbone that can be applied in many fields such as metal sensor, biosensor sensor, and biochemical imaging. The potential usage of this multifunctional conductive polymer film in smart windows application has been investigated and the optical contrast value which is the most important parameter of this technology has been measured as 75%.C1 [Gumusay, Ogun; Soganci, Tugba; Durur, Simge; Cetisli, Halil; Ak, Metin] Pamukkale Univ, Fac Alt & Sci, Chem Dept, Denizli, Turkey.[Soyleyici, Hakan Can] Adnan Menderes Univ, Dept Elect & Energy, Buharkent Vocat Sch, Aydin, Turkey
