Triterpene Saponins from the Aerial Parts of Trifolium medium L. var. sarosiense

    Get PDF
Seven previously unreported triterpene glycosides (1−7) were isolated from methanol extract of the aerial parts of Trifolium medium var. sarosiense (zigzag clover). Their structures were established by the extensive use of 1D and 2D NMR experiments along with ESI-MS and HRMS analyses. Compounds 1−7 are oleanane derivatives characterized by the presence of a keto group at C-22 of an aglycone and a primary alcoholic function at C-24 and differing functions at C-30. Among these, compounds 1−3 and 6 showed a secondary alcoholic function at C-11, which is methoxylated in compounds 4 and 7. Compound 5 was shown to possess a known aglycone, wistariasapogenol A; however, it is described here for the first time as a saponin constituent of the Trifolium genus. Some aspects of taxonomic classification of zigzag clover are also discussed

Tuning the selectivity in iridium-catalyzed acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling of primary alcohols

An acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling of primary alcohols to carboxylic acids/carboxylates, esters, and Guerbet alcohols (via both homo- and cross-beta-alkylation of the alcohols) in the presence of an N-heterocyclic carbene iridium(i) catalyst was developed under aerobic conditions. The product selectivity can be easily tuned among the products with a single catalyst through simple modification of the reaction conditions, such as the catalyst and base amounts, the choice of base, and the reaction temperature.Ege University Scientific Research Projects Coordination; Turkiye Scholarships; TUBITAK (2211/C)This work was supported by Ege University Scientific Research Projects Coordination. ###EgeUn###In this study, L-phenylalanine grafted 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (Phe-graft-Poly(HEMA))polymericnanoparticles(PNPs)weresynthesizedandtheir using potential for agricultural purposes was evaluated through the assessment ofthe PNPs characterization and phytotoxicityon wheat(Triticum aestivum L. cv. Gonen). Characterization of Phe-graft-Poly(HEMA) PNPs was carried out by FT-IR spectroscopy, Zeta-Size analysis and SEM. FT-IR analysis showed L-phenylalanine amino acids incorporation into poly(HEMA) nanoparticles and theparticlesizewasmeasuredabout168nmbyZeta-Sizeanalysis. SEMimages showed spherical shape and narrow distribution of the PNPs. Surface area of the PNP was calculated to be 2723 m 2 g -1 . The phytotoxicity of the PNPs on wheat was explored in seed germination and seedling stage. Treated seedlings maintained high germination rate, fresh-dry weights and shoot-root lengths in early growth period. Leaves of 14-days-old wheat seedlings did not present any decrement on photosynthetic efficiency (Fv/Fm) and pigment contents in comparison to control. Hydrogen peroxide and reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced lipid peroxidation levels were measured similar to control level. These results show that Phe-graft-Poly(HEMA)PNPs may be used as non-phytotoxic hydrophobic carrier system to design unique nanoagrochemicals for different agricultural purposes. © 2019, Academic Publishing House. WOS: 000241813100012PubMed ID: 17088619The title compound, [PdBr(2)( C(21)H(13)F(5)N(2))(2)], crystallizes with two independent centrosymmetric conformational isomers having a square- planar coordination at the Pd atom. The conformational isomers differ by the ligands having a cis or trans orientation of their benzyl and penta uorobenzyl rings with respect to the benzimidazole ring plane. The benzimidazole rings are rotated with respect to the coordination plane of the metal by 79.1 ( 2) and 75.2 ( 1) degrees for molecules A and B, respectively. The Pd - Br bond lengths are 2.4218 ( 8) and 2.4407 ( 10) angstrom for molecules A and B, respectively, and the Pd - C bond lengths are 2.030 ( 8) and 2.018 ( 9) angstrom. The crystal structure contains two types of C - H center dot center dot center dot F and one type of C - H center dot center dot center dot Br intramolecular contact, as well as C - H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions

Palladium(ii) complexes with planar chiral ferrocenyl phosphane-(benz)imidazol-2-ylidene ligands

    No full text
International audienceWe describe here the first examples of planar chiral ferrocenyl phosphane-benzimidazol-2-ylidene ligands and their coordination chemistry with palladium(ii). All ligand precursors, namely enantiopure ferrocenyl phosphane-(benz)imidazolium salts, and all enantiopure palladium complexes have been fully characterised by 1H, 31P and 13C NMR, mass spectrometry and X-ray diffraction methods for seven examples. The potential of these very bulky bidentate ligands in catalysis was evaluated and compared to their imidazol-2-ylidene analogues. The influence of sterics was shown to be non-negligible as the bulkiest ligand gave the lowest activities in the asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura reaction
