    Efeito da irrigação na produção do capim-mombaça: relação com variáveis do balanço hídrico.

    O objetivo do trabalho foi verificar o efeito da irrigação sobre a produção do capim-mombaça (Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça) e relacionar a resposta produtiva à irrigação com variáveis do balanço hídrico. A produção de forragem foi avaliada em áreas irrigadas sob pivô central e em condição de sequeiro, de dezembro de 2004 a janeiro de 2007. A taxa média de acúmulo de forragem (kg MS/ha.dia) do capim-mombaça irrigado foi superior ao não irrigado nos ciclos de inverno e primavera, onde as diferenças foram mais evidentes. O armazenamento relativo de água no solo foi a variável de balanço hídrico que melhor correlacionou-se com a produção relativa entre os sistemas

    Emerging biosensing technologies for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disease diagnostics

    Neuroinflammation plays a critical role in the onset and progression of many neurological disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. In these clinical conditions the underlying neuroinflammatory processes are significantly heterogeneous. Nevertheless, a common link is the chronic activation of innate immune responses and imbalanced secretion of pro and anti-inflammatory mediators. In light of this, the discovery of robust biomarkers is crucial for screening, early diagnosis, and monitoring of neurological diseases. However, the difficulty to investigate biochemical processes directly in the central nervous system (CNS) is challenging. In recent years, biomarkers of CNS inflammatory responses have been identified in different body fluids, such as blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and tears. In addition, progress in micro and nanotechnology has enabled the development of biosensing platforms capable of detecting in real-time, multiple biomarkers in clinically relevant samples. Biosensing technologies are approaching maturity where they will become deployed in community settings, at which point screening programs and personalized medicine will become a reality.     Overexpression of the activated form of the AtAREB1 gene (AtAREB1^QT) improves soybean responses to water deficit.

    Abscisic acid-responsive element binding protein (AREB1) is a basic domain/leucine zipper transcription factor that binds to the abscisic acid (ABA)-responsive element motif in the promoterWater deficit response in GM soybeans with (AtAREB1^QT) region of ABA-inducible genes. Because AREB1 is not sufficient to direct the expression of downstream genes under non-stress conditions, an activated form of AREB1 (AtAREB1^QT) was created. Several reports claim that plants overexpressing AREB1 or AREB1ΔQT show improveddrought tolerance. In our studies, soybean plants overexpressing (AtAREB1^QT) were characterized molecularly, and the phenotype and drought response of three lines were accessed under greenhouse conditions. Under conditions of water deficit, the transformed plants presented a higher survival rate (100%) than those of their isoline, cultivar BR 16 (40%). Moreover, the transformed plants displayed better water use efficiency and had a higher number of leaves than their isoline. Because the transgenic plants had higher stomatal conductance than its isoline under well-watered conditions, it was suggested that the enhanced drought response of (AtAREB1^QT) soybean plants might not be associated with altered transpiration rates mediated by ABA-dependent stomatal closure. However, it is possible that the smaller leaf area of the transgenic plants reduced their transpiration and water use, causing delayed stressonset. The difference in the degree of wilting and percentage of survival between the 35S-(AtAREB1^QT) and wildtype plants may also be related to the regulation of genes that protect against dehydration because metabolic impairment of photosynthesis, deduced by an increasing internal CO2 concentration, was not observed in the transgenic plants

    Makna tanda toleransi beragama dalam video klip : analisis semiotika video klip Syahadat Cinta dalam Album Kidung Sufi Candra Malik

    Sinyal-sinyal toleransi beragama di Indonesia terlihat kian menipis. Gesekan-gesekan kepentingan dikaitkan dengan keyakinan agama seringkali menimbulkan konflik. Tercatat ada 52 pengaduan dalam kurun waktu 2016 di Komnas HAM mengenai menepisnya toleransi ini. Salah satu alternatif mengurangi dan menghilangkan tindakan anti toleransi atau intoleransi ini adalah dengan mengkampanyekan toleransi. Berbagai media banyak digunakan, termasuk video klip. Salah satu video klip tersebut adalah video klip Syahadat Cinta dalam Album Kidung Sufi. Candra Malik sebagai seorang da‘i sekaligus musisi independent dalam video klip tersebut berusaha menyebarkan pesan dakwah yang mengarah kepada kritik sosial dan gejala sosial yang ada, dalam hal ini adalah gejala intoleransi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang mencari tahu bagaimana makna-makna toleransi yang ada dalam video klip Syahadat Cinta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Penulis tertarik menggunakan teori semiotika ini untuk memperdalam pola kerja dari triangle meaning yang dijabarkan dalam analisis Triadik dan Trikotomi untuk menjawab rumusan masalah dalam penelitian. Semiotika Peirce menggunakan istilah representamen sebagai bentuk tanda awal, kemudian object sebagai acuan tanda, dan interpretant sebagai pemaknaan. Selanjutnya proses semiosis ini dituangkan dalam sebuah Trikotomi yang terdiri atas 3 tingkat dan 9 sub tipe tanda. Adapun unit analisisnya adalah bahasa lirik dan performance yang ditampilkan dalam beberapa scene yang mengandung prinsip-prinsip toleransi beragama. Penelitian ini kemudian menghasilkan makna-makna toleransi beragama yang terlihat video klip Syahadat Cinta dalam album Kidung Sufi. Hasil penelitian ini diantaraya adalah makna dari toleransi beragama yang ditunjukkan melalui 5 prinsip toleransi beragama, yakni prinsip kebebasan agama, prinsip penghormatan terhadap eksistensi agama lain, prinsip agree in disagreement (setuju dalam perbedaan), prinsip Kesaksian yang Jujur dan saling Menghormati (Frank Witness and Mutual Respect), dan prinsip berpikir dan bersikap positif dan percaya
