Bactérias gram-negativas em cardeais (Paroaria coronata e Paroaria dominicana) apreendidos do tráfico de animais silvestres

Anualmente o tráfico de animais silvestres retira milhões de aves da natureza. Os cardeais (Paroaria coronata) e cardeais-do-nordeste (Paroaria dominicana) estão incluídos entre as espécies de aves mais traficadas. A microbiota cloacal de passeriformes de vida livre é composta principalmente por bacilos e cocos gram-positivos, já os bacilos gram-negativos predominam em aves de cativeiro. Em situações de estresse e baixa de imunidade as bactérias gram-negativas podem causar infecções oportunistas. O presente trabalho identificou bactérias da microbiota da cloaca de 49 espécimes de P. coronata e P. dominicana apreendidas do tráfico de animais silvestres em São Paulo (SP). Foram isoladas treze espécies de bactérias gram-negativas, incluindo Salmonella spp. e Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A maior frequência de ocorrência foi de Escherichia coli, identificada em 42/49 (85,7%) das amostras fecais. Dentre os isolados de E. coli, 21/42 pertenciam aos grupos filogenéticos B2 e D, relacionados a estirpes patogênicas que causam doença extraintestinal em humanos. Klebsiella pneumoniae foi isolada em 28/49 (57,1%) das amostras. Esses resultados reforçam que as condições estressantes a que esses animais são submetidos em situações de tráfico, incluindo o contato com humanos, podem favorecer a colonização da microbiota cloacal das aves por patógenos, o que representa um risco para a sua reintrodução na natureza considerando-se o possível contato com humanos e outros animais

Among the most trafficked species of birds are red-crested cardinals (Paroaria coronata) and red-cowled cardinals (Paroaria dominicana). The cloacal microbiota of free-living passerines consists mainly of gram-positive bacilli and cocci, and gram-negative bacilli predominate in captive birds. Under stress and low immunity, gram-negative species may cause opportunistic infections. This study identified bacteria from cloacal microbiota of 49 specimens of P. coronata and P. dominicana seized from illegal wildlife trade in São Paulo (SP). In this study, 13 species of gram-negative bacteria, including Salmonella spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated. An increased occurrence of Escherichia coli was identified in 42/49 (85.7 %) of fecal samples. Among the E. coli strains, 21/42 belonging to the phylogenetic groups B2 and D, were related to extraintestinal pathogenic strains causing disease in humans. Klebsiella pneumoniae were isolated in 28/49 (57.1 %) samples. These results reinforce the fact that stressful conditions of illegal trade can favor the colonization of cloacal microbiota of these birds by pathogens, which represents a risk for their reintroduction into the wild, including the transmission of diseases to humans and other animals

Caracterização molecular dos fatores de virulência de estirpes de Escherichia coli isoladas de papagaios com colibacilose aviária

A total of eight Escherichia. coli isolates from psittacine birds were serogrouping and investigated for the virulence factors: pili associated with pyelonephritis (pap), S fimbriae (sfa), afimbrial adhesin (afa), capsule K1 (neu), curli fibers (crl, csgA), temperature-sensitive hemagglutinin (tsh), heat labile (LT) and heat stable (STa and STb) enterotoxins, Shiga-like toxins (Stx1 and Stx2), Cytotoxic necrotizing factor (cnf1), haemolysin (hly), aerobactin production (iuc) and serum resistance (iss). The results showed that the isolates belonged to six serogroups: O23; O54; O64; O76; O128 and O152. The found virulence genes were: crl+ in all isolates, pap+, iuc+ and iss+ in three isolates; tsh+ in two isolates. All strains were negative for genes neu, csgA, sfa, afa, hly, cnf and LT, STa, STb, Stx1, Stx2 toxins. Our findings suggested that some E. coli isolated from psittacine birds present some virulence factors of avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC) pathotype.Oito amostras de Escherichia coli isoladas de papagaios com colibacilose aviária foram sorogrupadas e investigadas para a presença dos fatores de virulência: pili associado a pielonefrite (pap), fímbria S (sfa), adesina afimbrial (afa), cápsula K1 (neu), curli (crl, csgA), hemaglutinina termosensível (tsh), enterotoxinas termo-lábil (LT) e termo-estável (STa e STb), Shiga-like toxinas (Stx1 e Stx2), Fator citotóxico necrotizante (cnf1), hemolisina (hly), aerobactina (iuc) e resistência sérica (iss). Os resultados mostraram que os isolados pertenciam a seis sorogrupos: O23; O54; O64; O76; O128 e O152. Os genes de virulência detectados foram: crl+ em todos os isolados; pap+; iss+ e iuc+ em três isolados, tsh+ em dois isolados. Todas as amostras foram negativas para os genes neu, csgA, sfa, afa, hly, cnf e para as toxinas LT, STa, STb, Stx1 e Stx2. Estes resultados sugerem que amostras de E. coli isoladas de papagaios apresentam alguns fatores de virulência das amostras do patotipo de E. coli patogênica para aves (APEC)

OPHTHALMOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SHEEP FROM THE ALENTEJO REGION - PORTUGAL

Considering the importance of the flock of Alentejo sheep, the goal of this study was to determine the average values of eye examinations, evaluate the ophthalmoscopic features and fluorescein staining for Merino sheep from Alentejo region, in Portugal. The 48 eyes of 24 healthy, female sheep belonging to the sheep flock at the University of Évora were evaluated. The average values obtained for Schirmer tear test (STT) were 19.0 ± 5.22 mm/min, with a reduction of tear production varying according to the age of the animal, for tear pH were 7.7 ± 0.48 and for intraocular pressure (IOP) was 12.7 ± 3.03 mmHg. Fundus aspects were observed in the tapetal area with shades of blue, green and yellow. The optic disc was predominantly in the transition area between tapetal and non-tapetal regions of elliptical shape, with holoangiotic vascular pattern. None of the animals showed fluorescein staining on the ocular surface. In the context of the investigation, these data may be useful to improve the clinical approach to the species and reference standards of the exam’s value

Knowledge, attitude and practice of condom use by women of an impoverished urban area

OBJETIVO Avaliar a adequabilidade do conhecimento, da atitude e prática de mulheres acerca de preservativos masculino e feminino enquanto medida preventiva às IST/HIV. MÉTODO Inquérito domiciliar, avaliativo do tipo conhecimento, atitude e prática (PAC), de abordagem quantitativa, envolvendo 300 mulheres. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre junho e agosto de 2013, em um aglomerado subnormal do município de João Pessoa. RESULTADOS Para o preservativo masculino, a maioria das mulheres apresentou conhecimento e prática inadequados e atitude adequada. Em relação ao preservativo feminino, as variáveis conhecimento, atitude e prática foram insatisfatórias. Houve associações significativas entre conhecimento/orientação religiosa e atitude/escolaridade para o preservativo masculino. CONCLUSÃO A equipe multiprofissional deve estar compromissada com o desenvolvimento de práticas educativas como ferramentas de promoção do cuidado, no sentido de favorecer a adesão ao uso de preservativos.OBJETIVO Evaluar la adecuabilidad del conocimiento, la actitud y la práctica de mujeres acerca de los preservativos masculino y femenino en cuanto medida preventiva a las IST/VIH. MÉTODO Encuesta domiciliaria, evaluadora del tipo conocimiento, actitud y práctica (PAC), de abordaje cuantitativo, incluyendo a 300 mujeres. La recolección de datos ocurrió entre junio y agosto de 2013, en un asentamiento irregular (barrio de chozas) del municipio de João Pessoa. RESULTADOS Para el preservativo masculino, la mayoría de las mujeres demostró conocimiento y práctica inadecuados y actitud adecuada. Con respecto al preservativo femenino, las variables conocimiento, actitud y práctica fueron insatisfactorias. Hubo asociaciones significativas entre conocimiento/orientación religiosa y actitud/escolaridad para el preservativo masculino. CONCLUSIÓN El equipo multiprofesional debe tener compromiso con el desarrollo de prácticas educativas como herramientas de promoción del cuidado, a fin de favorecer la adhesión al uso de los preservativos.OBJECTIVE Assessing the adequacy of knowledge, attitude and practice of women regarding male and female condoms as STI/HIV preventive measures. METHOD An evaluative Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) household survey with a quantitative approach, involving 300 women. Data collection took place between June and August 2013, in an informal urban settlement within the municipality of João Pessoa, Paraiba, Northeast Brazil. RESULTS Regarding the male condom, most women showed inadequate knowledge and practice, and an adequate attitude. Regarding the female condom, knowledge, attitude and practice variables were unsatisfactory. Significant associations between knowledge/religious orientation and attitude/education regarding the male condom were observed. CONCLUSION A multidisciplinary team should be committed to the development of educational practices as care promotion tools in order to improve adherence of condom use

Atypical Mannheimiosis in captive rheas (Rhea americana)

Mannheimia haemolytica (MH) is a major cause of respiratory disease in bovine complex (BRDC) that causes great economic losses. To this day, there are no reports of birds affected by this bacterium. The present report describes an atypical outbreak of mannheimiosis in captive rheas (Rhea americana). Mannheimia haemolytica (MH) é uma das principais causas da doença do complexo respiratório dos bovinos (DCRB) que causa grandes perdas econômicas. Até os dias atuais, não há relato de aves acometidas por tal bactéria. Relata-se um surto atípico de mannheimiose em emas em cativeiro (Rhea americana)

GESTÃO ESCOLAR, FORMAÇÃO DOCENTE E DIREITOS HUMANOS NA EDUCAÇÃO INFANTIL

The purpose of this work is to develop a reflexive approach, in order to ascertain the opinions of Human Rights and Citizenship, in view of the work of School Management, existing in the pedagogical practices of Early Childhood Education teachers and to continue the journey that concludes the graduation in Pedagogy, with the presentation of a theme that encompasses Early Childhood Education. To this end, we sought to carry out a bibliographic research, based on renowned authors and their notes on the theme presented here. Thus, through this reflexive approach, it was possible to discover that in the teaching pedagogical practice, the integration that involves Human Rights and Citizenship happens through rules and limits applied even before the teacher starts his activities, as well as when he seeks to develop a work that addresses more complex themes such as homophobia, sexuality, bullying, bullying, among others. In view of this, it is relevant to point out that Early Childhood Education has as its fundamental purpose the formative process of cultural and social character of the subject, that is, of children up to five years of age. In this panorama, we find the school manager and his work.El propósito de este trabajo es desarrollar un enfoque reflexivo, con el fin de conocer las opiniones de Derechos Humanos y Ciudadanía, a la luz del trabajo de Gestión Escolar, existente en las prácticas pedagógicas de los docentes de Educación Infantil y continuar el recorrido que concluye la graduación en Pedagogía, con la presentación de un tema que engloba la Educación Infantil. Para ello, se buscó realizar una investigación bibliográfica, a partir de autores de renombre y sus notas sobre el tema aquí presentado. Así, a través de este enfoque reflexivo, se pudo descubrir que en la práctica pedagógica docente, la integración que involucra a los Derechos Humanos y la Ciudadanía ocurre a través de reglas y límites aplicados incluso antes de que el docente inicie sus actividades, así como cuando busca desarrollar un trabajo que aborde temas más complejos como la homofobia, la sexualidad, el bullying, el bullying, entre otros. Ante ello, es pertinente señalar que la Educación Infantil tiene como finalidad fundamental el proceso formativo de carácter cultural y social de la asignatura, es decir, de los niños hasta los cinco años de edad. En este panorama, encontramos al director de la escuela y su trabajo.Este trabalho tem como desígnio desenvolver uma abordagem reflexiva, com o intuito de averiguar os pareceres dos Direitos Humanos e Cidadania, tendo em vista o trabalho da Gestão Escolar, existentes nas práticas pedagógicas dos docentes da Educação Infantil e dar sequência à caminhada que conclui a graduação em Pedagogia, com a apresentação de uma temática que abarque a Educação Infantil. Para tanto, buscou-se realizar uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, com base em autores renomados e seus apontamentos acerca da temática aqui apresentada. Assim sendo, mediante essa abordagem reflexiva, conseguiu-se descobrir que na prática pedagógica docente a integração que envolve os Direitos Humanos e a Cidadania acontece por intermédio de regras e limites aplicados antes mesmo de o professor iniciar as suas atividades, bem como, quando se buscar desenvolver um trabalho que aborde temas mais complexos como homofobia, sexualidade, bullying, dentre outros. Diante disso, é relevante salientar que a Educação Infantil apresenta como desígnio fundamental o processo formativo de caráter cultural e social do sujeito, ou seja, de crianças até os cinco anos de idade. Nesse panorama, encontra-se o gestor escolar e o seu trabalho.  Este trabalho tem como desígnio desenvolver uma abordagem reflexiva, com o intuito de averiguar os pareceres dos Direitos Humanos e Cidadania, tendo em vista o trabalho da Gestão Escolar, existentes nas práticas pedagógicas dos docentes da Educação Infantil e dar sequência à caminhada que conclui a graduação em Pedagogia, com a apresentação de uma temática que abarque a Educação Infantil. Para tanto, buscou-se realizar uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, com base em autores renomados e seus apontamentos acerca da temática aqui apresentada. Assim sendo, mediante essa abordagem reflexiva, conseguiu-se descobrir que na prática pedagógica docente a integração que envolve os Direitos Humanos e a Cidadania acontece por intermédio de regras e limites aplicados antes mesmo de o professor iniciar as suas atividades, bem como, quando se buscar desenvolver um trabalho que aborde temas mais complexos como homofobia, sexualidade, bullying, dentre outros. Diante disso, é relevante salientar que a Educação Infantil apresenta como desígnio fundamental o processo formativo de caráter cultural e social do sujeito, ou seja, de crianças até os cinco anos de idade. Nesse panorama, encontra-se o gestor escolar e o seu trabalho.
