N2O2 type complexes of C+2uion have been synthesized by the reaction of Salicylaldehyde/ 3,4-diaminobenzophenone/ acetyl acetoneand glutaric anhydride. The ligands and respective metal complexes was established through spectroscopic data (FT-IR, UV-Vis,1H NMR and 13C NMR). They are non-electrolytic in nature as their molar conductivities (ΛM) in DMSO of 10-3 M solution from the EPR study the complexes proposed to be octahedral geometry. All the metal complexes have been screened for their antibacterial activity andthe predicted binding affinity using molecular docking studies

Socket Preservation using Two Types of Bone Replacement Graft Material: A Clinical Comparative Study - 6 Months

BACKGROUND : Tooth extraction typically leads to loss of alveolar bone housing in width & height. Socket preservation at the time of extraction is done to minimise crestal bone changes, thereby minimizing horizontal and vertical ridge resorption and aids in placement of implant in a favourable position for better esthetics and function. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the soft and hard tissue dimensional changes following placement of two different socket bone substitutes in Extraction Defect Sounding (EDS) classification type I and type II defects over a period of 6 months. MATERIALS AND METHODS : 20 patients (10 in each group) selected from the outpatient department of periodontics, Ragas Dental College & hospital, Chennai who are indicated for socket preservation followed by endosseous implant placement and restoration were included in the study. After obtaining the institutional review board approval and the patient’s consent socket preservation procedures were carried out on a total of 18 patients using two putty forms of graft materials. Clinical assessment of soft tissue parameters - gingival biotype, width of keratinized gingiva and mean relative position of marginal gingiva was done at baseline, 3months and 6 months. Radiographic assessment was done for changes in the marginal bone levels at the mesial, mid buccal and distal aspect at baseline and 6 months. RESULTS : In the present study gingival phenotype and width of keratinized gingiva remained the same throughout the study period. Intra-group comparison of both groups showed a statistically significant result in mean relative position of the marginal gingiva from baseline to 6 months. Intragroup analysis for group 1 (alloplast group) showed crestal bone level changes on the mesial, mid buccal & distal marginal bone from baseline to 6 months time period, whereas group 2 (allograft group) showed crestal bone level changes on the mid buccal region only for marginal bone at 6 months time period. Similarly Inter-group comparisons of soft and hard tissue parameters were not statistically significant between the groups. Histological analysis of both putty types of bone graft biomaterials reported 43-55% vital bone and remaining 57-45% percentage of residual graft with new osteoid and fibrous encapsulation. CONCLUSION : From this clinical study it can be concluded that gingival phenotype and width of keratinized gingiva were maintained throughout the study period, there was statistically significant difference in mean relative position of the marginal gingiva from baseline to 6 months within the groups. Similarly there were marginal bone level changes in both the groups at the end of study period which was also statistically significant. There is no difference between the groups for soft and hard tissue dimensional changes

A Study of employee perception of performance appraisal in software development organizations

Performance management of software professionals is very complex because they fall into the category of knowledge workers. Unlike performance appraisals of industrial workers, those of software professionals are more perceptual than factual due to the complexity of their work. The aim of this research is to examine the software professionals' perception about the performance appraisal systems used in software organizations and whether they help them to improve their work performance. The methodology employed for this study is a quantitative approach and a cross sectional survey. The population for this study is software professionals working in software development organizations in Sri Lanka, who are estimated to be around 14,956 (ICTA 2007).Therefore, for the purpose of the study, the data were collected from 101 software professionals, which is the desired sample size (number of completed surveys), for accuracy level of 10% at the 95% confidence level. A questionnaire was used to obtain the data and it was carefully designed to measure the effectiveness of the performance appraisal. For the analysis of the collected data through the survey, SPSS version 13.0 was used and the data analysis techniques used to prove the hypotheses were descriptive statistics, bivariate correlation coefficient (Pearson's r), causal effect analysis using standardized regression coefficient and Baron and Kenny testing mediation with regression analysis. The results agree with the previous research of performance appraisal. The sample of professionals used for this survey confirms that their supervisors use performance appraisal methods which contain the three elements: employee participation in the process, participatory goal setting and feedback that are collectively known as employee voice. For the employee-acceptance of the performance appraisal, she/he should perceive that the performance appraisal process is fair and unbiased. The results also confirm that the employee-acceptance is a key predicator for employee-satisfaction of performance appraisal. This would lead to several favourable outcomes such as work performance improvement, improved productivity and high levels of motivation. Baron and Kenny testing for mediation proves that the relationship between employee voice and employee satisfaction, and work performance improvement and outcome is mediated by employee acceptance of performance appraisal. Effectiveness of performance management systems in information technology industry in Sri Lanka

    No full text
This empirical study is based on the perceived effectiveness of the performance management system in information technology (IT) organizations in Sri Lanka and the sample consists of 88 employees working in the capacity of executives. This study focuses on factors that are responsible for effectiveness of performance management system and its association with organization and individuals goals and employee satisfaction in performance management system. Also the findings of this study are congruent with the research that emphasizes the importance of procedural fairness over the techniques and instruments. The results indicates that the fairness perception in performance management is the most important variable in explaining employee satisfaction in performance management

Exploration of the possibility of infusing Social Media Trends into generating NFT Recommendations

Recommendations Systems have been identified to be one of the integral elements of driving sales in e-commerce sites. The utilization of opinion mining data extracted from trends has been attempted to improve the recommendations that can be provided by baseline methods in this research when user-click data is lacking or is difficult to be collected due to privacy concerns. Utilizing social trends to influence the recommendations generated for a set of unique items has been explored with the use of a suggested scoring mechanism. Embracing concepts from decentralized networks that are expected to change how users interact via the internet over the next couple of decades, the suggested Recommendations System attempts to make use of multiple sources of information, applying coherent information retrieval techniques to extract probable trending items. The proposed Recommendations Architecture in the research presents a method to integrate social trends with recommendations to produce promising outputs
