The defects and countermeasures of elderly people home-based nursing in rural community
Objective: China has been one of the countries with largest elderly population. Home-based care and nursing has been one of the biggest social problems in our country. Especially in the countryside, unscientific care and unprofessional nursing can be found everywhere. The hidden problems of home-based care and nursing for old people in the countryside are becoming increasingly outstanding and serious. It calls for the concern and participation of all the people in the society, for the government is unable to undertake all.
This paper presents a study of the recourses available in connection with litigation regarding foreign investment in the People's Republic of China and emphasizes the particularities of Chinese law. An analysis of all of the different dispute resolution mecnanisms is presented underscoring the advantages and disadvantages of each one and explaining the gradation as between themselves. Both Chinese law and international law offer various mechanisms designed to resolve different types of conflicts: meeting, conciliation, arbitration, intervention of various actors and sometimes even of the Chinese Communist Party or of some administrative officers, courts, etc. International law is analyzed from the Chinese point of view in particular with regard to the international bilateral and multibilateral treaties
Some field experience with subsynchronous vibration of centrifugal compressors
A lot of large chemical fertilizer plants producing 1000 ton NH3/day and 1700 ton urea/day were constructed in the 1970's in China. During operation, subsynchronous vibration takes place occasionally in some of the large turbine-compressor sets and has resulted in heavy economic losses. Two cases of subsynchronous vibration are described: Self-excited vibration of the low-pressure (LP) cylinder of one kind of N2-H2 multistage compressor; and Forced subsynchronous vibration of the high-pressure (HP) cylinder of the CO2 compressor
Initialization Matters for Adversarial Transfer Learning
With the prevalence of the Pretraining-Finetuning paradigm in transfer
learning, the robustness of downstream tasks has become a critical concern. In
this work, we delve into adversarial robustness in transfer learning and reveal
the critical role of initialization, including both the pretrained model and
the linear head. First, we discover the necessity of an adversarially robust
pretrained model. Specifically, we reveal that with a standard pretrained
model, Parameter-Efficient Finetuning (PEFT) methods either fail to be
adversarially robust or continue to exhibit significantly degraded adversarial
robustness on downstream tasks, even with adversarial training during
finetuning. Leveraging a robust pretrained model, surprisingly, we observe that
a simple linear probing can outperform full finetuning and other PEFT methods
with random initialization on certain datasets. We further identify that linear
probing excels in preserving robustness from the robust pretraining. Based on
this, we propose Robust Linear Initialization (RoLI) for adversarial
finetuning, which initializes the linear head with the weights obtained by
adversarial linear probing to maximally inherit the robustness from
pretraining. Across five different image classification datasets, we
demonstrate the effectiveness of RoLI and achieve new state-of-the-art results.

Multiple microRNAs regulate tacrolimus metabolism through CYP3A5
The CYP3A5 gene polymorphism accounts for the majority of inter-individual variability in tacmlimus pharmacokinetics. We found that the basal expression of CYP3A5 in donor grafts also played a significant role in tacrolimus metabolism under the same genetic conditions after pediatric liver transplantation. Thus, we hypothesized that some potential epigenetic factors could affect CYP3A5 expression and contributed to the variability. We used a high-throughput functional screening for miRNAs to identify miRNAs that had the most abundant expression in normal human liver and could regulate tacmlimus metabolism in HepaRG cells and HepLPCs. Four of these miRNAs (miR-29a-3p, miR-99a-5p, miR-532-5p, and miR-26-5p) were selected for testing. We found that these miRNAs inhibited tacmlimus metabolism that was dependent on CYP3A5. Putative miRNAs targeting key drug-metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) were selected using an in silico prediction algorithm. Luciferase reporter assays and functional studies showed that miR-26b-5p inhibited tacrolimus metabolism by directly regulating CYP3A5, while miR-29a-5p, miR-99a-5p, and miR-532-5p targeted HNF4a, NR1I3, and NR1I2, respectively, in turn regulating the downstream expression of CYP3A5; the corresponding target gene siRNAs markedly abolished the effects caused by miRNA inhibitors. Also, the expression of miR-29a-3p, miR-99a-5p, miR-532-5p, and miR-26b-5p in donor grafts were negatively correlated with tacmlimus C/D following pediatric liver transplantation. Taken together, our findings identify these miRNAs as novel regulators of tacrolimus metabolism
Imaging Findings of Follicular Dendritic Cell Sarcoma: Report of Four Cases
Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm and little is known about its radiological features. We present here four cases of follicular dendritic cell sarcomas and we provide the image characteristics of these tumors to help radiologists recognize this entity when making a diagnosis
Loss of PDZK1 expression activates PI3K/AKT signaling via PTEN phosphorylation in gastric cancer
Phosphorylation of PTEN plays an important role in carcinogenesis and progression of gastric cancer. However, the underlying mechanism of PTEN phosphorylation regulation remains largely elusive. In the present study, PDZK1 was identified as a novel binding protein of PTEN by association of PTEN through its carboxyl terminus and PDZ domains of PDZK1. By direct interaction with PTEN, PDZK1 inhibited the phosphorylation of PTEN at S380/T382/T383 cluster and further enhanced the capacity of PTEN to suppress PI3K/AKT activation. PDZK1 suppressed gastric cancer cell proliferation by diminishing PI3K/AKT activation via inhibition of PTEN phosphorylation in vitro and in vivo. The expression of PDZK1 was frequently downregulated in gastric cancer specimens and correlated with progression and poor prognosis of gastric cancer patients. Downregulation of PDZK1 was associated with PTEN inactivation, AKT signaling and cell proliferation activation in clinical specimens. Thus, low levels of PDZK1 in gastric cancer specimens lead to increase proliferation of gastric cancer cells via phosphorylation of PTEN at the S380/T382/T383 cluster and constitutively activation of PI3K/AKT signaling, which results in poor prognosis of gastric cancer patients
Phase-transition-promoted thermoelectric textiles based on twin surface-modified CNT fibers
With the fast development of new science and technology, wearable devices are in great demand in modern human daily life. However, the energy problem is a long-lasting issue to achieve real smart, wearable, and portable devices. Flexible thermoelectric generators (TEGs) based on thermoelectric conversion systems can convert body waste heat into electricity with excellent flexibility and wearability, which shows a new direction to solving this issue. Here in this work, polyethylenimine (PEI) and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) twin surface-modified carbon nanotube fibers (CNTFs) were designed and prepared to fabricate thermoelectric textiles (TET) with high performance, good air stability, and high-efficiency power generation. To better utilize the heat emitted by the human body, microencapsulated phase change materials (MPCM) were coated on the hot end of the TET to achieve the phase-transition-promoted TET. MPCM-coated TET device could generate 25.7% more energy than the untreated control device, which indicates the great potential of the phase-transition-promoted TET
Smad7 enables STAT3 activation and promotes pluripotency independent of TGF-β signaling
TGF-β and related growth factors critically regulate cell potency and functions. Smad7 is induced by TGF-βs and inhibits the physiological functions of TGF-β signaling. This study describes an unexpected finding that Smad7 promotes self-renewal of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) in a manner independent of its inhibition on TGF-β signaling. Instead, Smad7 acts to induce activation of transcription factor signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) in ESCs. Smad7 activates STAT3 through its direct binding to the cytokine receptor upstream of STAT3 activation. In agreement with the role of STAT3 in maintaining ESC pluripotency, Smad7 promotes ESC self-renewal and induced pluripotent stem cell reprogramming. This finding illustrates a regulatory mechanism for Smad7 in maintaining pluripotency, and likely in cancer and inflammation
