Uppsatsen innehåller dels en allmän diskussion om inlärningsordböcker (=learner's dictionaries), dels några förslag angående utformningen av tre typer av information i sådana ordböcker: definitionerna, kontextuell information (valensuppgifter) och information om kollokationer. Bl. a. diskuteras a) COBUll..D-inspirerade definitioner, där den syntaktiska utbytbarheten uppges b) valensangivelser av såväl implicit som explicit slag c) anordning av kollokationer på grundval av den semantiska relationen mellan de båda komponenterna i kollokationen

SPINN: SPråkteknologi och INformationssökning i Norden

This paper describes a coordinate research project with the purpose of investigatingthe possibilities of a multilingual computational lexicon covering the Scandinavianlanguages. The initiative originates from the work carried out within the EU-project,SIMPLE, in which Danmark and Sweden participated, and which resulted in lexiconmodules for 12 EU-languages including Danish and Swedish. The Danish lexicon isbeing reused for creating a parallel Norwegian module (see section 2). In the finalsection a proposal for linking the word meanings in these three lexicons by means ofEnglish as a common interlingua is sketched out. The SPINN network is the forumfor cooperation among researchers in the Nordic countries on the issues concerningthe use of computational lexicons for natural language processing purposes withspecific focus on information retrieval

Elektroniska ordböcker i Sverige: nutid och framtid

The article Swedish electronic dictionaries: the present and the future aims at a survey of the state of art concerning electronic dictionaries in Sweden. The focus is on CD-ROM dictionaries, mainly defining ones, and their functionalities of technical and conceptual character. It is assumed here that the content, structure and functionalities of the electronic dictionaries of today can make a relevant contribution to designing the truly electronic dictionaries of the future. Some proposals for extending the content of the next generation dictionaries are suggested. The question of using a more sophisticated structural and functional access to the information is also discussed

Valensbeskrivning i svenska ordböcker – och några andra

The article (Valency description in Swedish dictionaries and some others) gives an overview of how valency information is represented in some Swedish and Nordic dictionaries, and in particular in Lexin’s Svenska Ord, NEO and SO and the Danish DDO. Since the functional perspective is a point of departure in the article, we address issues concerning the relevance and transparency of valency information for L2 and also Ll users. We also focus on the types of syntactic and semantic information conveyed by valency codes and their form. To improve the consistency of valency representation in dictionaries, we propose some final checks which could be performed by lexicographers, namely by comparing the valency data either from the point of view of a particular type of a valency construction or a lemma form. The lemma-checking can be applied to words: (i) sharing the same final lemma, (ii) standing in derivative relations (e.g, verbs and verbal nouns) and (iii) being semantically related. Finally, we reflect on possibilities to represent valency information in e-dictionaries

Sprogteknologiske ordbaser for de nordiske sprog – rapport fra et forskningsnetværk

This paper deals with a Nordic research network, SPINN, concerned with the harmonisation of Nordic, semantic computational lexica. Plans for extension of the lexica are described and some problems in adapting the Danish lexicon into a Norwegian version are accounted for. The main equivalence problems are caused by semantic changes which are taking place in modern Norwegian. These are changes with concequences for both internal and external lemma selection and especially the argument structure. Finally, a possibility to establish a multilingual network for Danish, Norwegian and Swedish is considered. The languages in the network will be interlinked by means of English, as described in The New Oxford Dictionary of English (NODE). Attention is also paid to some polysemy-oriented procedures supporting the interlingual linking
