Abstract These are the first avaiable data about the karyology of the taxa belonging to Rebutia Sect. Digitorebutia, the section of genus Rebutia K. Schum. with more species. Eight species of Sect. Digitorebutia were investigated. Out of the species studied, seven (R. pygmaea, R. raulii, R. steinmannii, R. major, R. diersiana, R. haagei and R. gavazzii) are polyploid, with tetraploid chromosome number 2n=4x = 44, and one (R. leucanthema) is diploid, with chromosome number 2n=2x = 22; x = 11. This is the first karyotype information of all the species investigated

Confirmation of the presence of Eleocharis mamillata (H.Lindb.) H.Lindb. subsp. austriaca (Hayek) Strandh. (Cyperaceae) in Piedmont (Italy)

Eleocharis mamillata subsp. austriaca belongs to Eleocharis subser. Eleocharis. The presence of this entity in the Italian territory was known for almost all the Alpine administrative regions and for Calabria. According to the Portal to the Flora of Italy, this entity was reported for Piedmont based on erroneous records. Nevertheless, during a wide herbarium survey on the subseries Eleocharis, several old and recent specimens collected in Piedmont have been identified as Eleocharis mamillata subsp. austriaca. Therefore, we can confirm the presence of the taxon in this region and provide a distribution map on the basis of the analysed material

La collezione storica di farmaci dell'Università di Firenze

    Get PDF

Chromosome numbers and karyomorphology of Festuca circummediterranea Patzke group (Poaceae, Loliinae)

The first comprehensive karyological overview of the group of Festuca circummediterranea, comprising 10 Euro-Mediterranean taxa (5 species and 7 subspecies, including autonyms), is provided. Thirty populations were sampled from across almost the whole distributional range of the aggregate, including the loci classici of each taxon. The first chromosome counts for F. jeanpertii subsp. jeanpertii, subsp. achaica, and subsp. gracilis are reported. All the taxa were found to be diploid (2n = 14) and have a similar karyotype, characterized by the predominace of metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes; the occurrence of B-chromosomes was recorded from a single taxon, F. marginata subsp. gallica
