Estabeleço conexões do fazer com algumas propostas de Sophie Calle, On Kawara, Roman Opalka, Arthur Bispo do Rosário e Kurt Schwitters, entre outros, assim como outras áreas do conhecimento como a Filosofia Contemporânea, a Teoria Literária, temas da Sociologia e Antropologia, representados principalmente por Walter Benjamin, Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault, Anthony Giddens, Fausto Colombo, Philippe LejeuneAbstract: Slippings and strippings of a person, under rhythm of contractions and expansions of time: process analysis of self-representational artworks entitles this research in Visual Poetics. Through this research I intend to understand personal process of creation, concerned with selfrepresentation. Working with this theme, I also intend to think of manners with which contemporary life provokes changes in conventional concept of selfportrait: a reasonable formal fidelity that exists between the model and the author of a portrait; so, model and author are the same person. Through personal artistic production and artworks from other artists, this research aims to verify the effects that transformations in concepts of memory, identity and authorship have caused in this concept of self-portrait. I work with "otherness" concept as a major element in the artistic purposes, weaving them in a kind of a process that relates contractions and expansions of time, closing art and life. I establish connections with my procedures and Sophie Calle, On Kawara, Roman Opalka, Arthur Bispo do Rosario and Kurt Schwitters' purposes, among others, as well as other concepts of Contemporary Philosophy,Literary Theory and some themes in Sociology and Anthropology, mainly represented by Walter Benjamin, Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault, Anthony Giddens, Fausto Colombo and Philippe LejeuneDoutoradoArtesDoutor em Arte

Anti-HLA donor-specific antibodies in allogeneic stem cell transplantation: management and desensitization protocol

    Get PDF
The role of antibodies directed against the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system has been well analyzed in rejection of solid organ transplantations [1, 2] and in transfusion medicine [3]. In the setting of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells transplantation (HSCT), only in the recent years their importance has been better defined, even though anti-HLA antibodies are frequently detectable in hematologic patients, due to sensitization from multiple transfusions, usually before the introduction of online universal leukoreduction, previous transplantations, and pregnancies in female patients

Toward an international consensus-Integrating lipoprotein apheresis and new lipid-lowering drugs

Background: Despite advances in pharmacotherapy of lipid disorders, many dyslipidemic patients do not attain sufficient lipid lowering to mitigate risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Several classes of novel lipid-lowering agents are being evaluated to reduce atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk. Lipoprotein apheresis (LA) is effective in acutely lowering the plasma concentrations of atherogenic lipoproteins including low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipoprotein(a), and novel lipid-lowering drugs may dampen the lipid rebound effect of LA, with the possibility that LA frequency may be decreased, in some cases even be discontinued. Sources of material: This document builds on current American Society for Apheresis guidelines and, for the first time, makes recommendations from summarized data of the emerging lipid-lowering drug classes (inhibitors of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 or microsomal triglyceride transfer protein, high-density lipoprotein mimetic), including the available evidence on combination therapy with LA with respect to the management of patients with dyslipidemia. Abstract of findings: Recommendations for different indications are given based on the latest evidence. However, except for lomitapide in homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and alirocumab/evolocumab in heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia subjects, limited data are available on the effectiveness and safety of combination therapy. More studies on combining LA with novel lipid-lowering drugs are needed. Conclusion: Novel lipid-lowering agents have potential to improve the performance of LA, but more evidence is needed. The Multidisciplinary International Group for Hemapheresis TherapY and Metabolic DIsturbances Contrast scientific society aims to establish an international registry of clinical experience on LA combination therapy to expand the evidence on this treatment in individuals at high cardiovascular disease risk

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura during pregnancy versus imitator of preeclampsia.

BACKGROUND Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a severe disorder affecting the microcirculation of multiple organs due to a systemic endothelial cell injury secondary to a deficiency in ADAMTS13 (a disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 motif, member 13) activity. TTP is a rare complication of pregnancy with a poor prognosis and high fetal mortality, especially when it occurs during the first trimester. Recent data have supported that effective treatment of TTP is plasma therapy. Unfortunately a major problem remains in the delay in diagnosis due to confounding factors between other "imitators of preeclampsia." Rapid and readily available laboratory testing to quickly diagnose TTP is desperately needed to improve care and to save mother and future child life. CASE REPORT We describe a rare case of successful pregnancy after TTP manifestations occurring in the first trimester; most importantly, our experience represents the first case of atypical manifestation due to neurologic and kidney manifestations preceding laboratory assay alterations. RESULTS We treated a patient with plasma replacement of 30 mL/kg/day and daily plasmapheresis in combination with continuous infusion of fresh-frozen plasma 10 mL/kg/day. The response of clinical manifestation immediately improved. At 30 weeks, the patient had multiple episodes of high blood pressure and concomitant decrease of hemoglobin and platelet count, so a cesarean section was immediately performed. She delivered a healthy female baby. CONCLUSION Early diagnosis by ADAMTS13 activity, occasionally occurring before clinical manifestations, aided us in promptly administering commended and life-saving treatments

A three month-old infant with severe hyperchylomicronemia: Molecular diagnosis and extracorporeal treatment

    No full text
Objective: Chylomicronemia syndrome presenting in childhood is a rare recessive disorder due to mutations of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and more rarely of APOC2, APOA5, GPIHBP1 or LMF1 genes. It often requires urgent and suitable treatment to avoid acute pancreatitis. The aim of this study was the molecular characterization and treatment of a 3 month-old infant with plasma triglycerides (TG) > 300 mmol/L. Methods: All candidate genes were sequenced. The patient was submitted to one plasma-exchange (PEX) procedure and subsequently to a rigid lipid-lowering diet (milk: Monogen®). Results: The proband was homozygous for a novel LPL mutation (c.242G > A, p.G81D) which in silico results pathogenic. After PEX, which was well tolerated, TG dropped to 64 mmol/L. During 5-month follow-up there was a clear trend towards lower and stable TG values. Conclusion: PEX is applicable in subjects with very low body weight when the extreme severity of the clinical picture has no therapeutic alternatives. © 2012 Elsevier Ireland Ltd
