Se trata de resultados preliminares que se están obteniendo en el Bajo Guadalhorce, en el marco de la tesis doctoral del primer firmanteIn riverine areas, many anthropogenic actions (modification of natural water courses, burying or channeling works, etc.) have been commonly applied worldwide to prevent floods in rivers, having negative environmental impacts on their dependent ecosystems. In the Guadalhorce River mouth (Málaga, Southern Spain), channeling works -including the splitting of the main channel into two branches before arriving to the sea- were conducted to reduce the flood risk in the surrounding urbanized areas near to the Mediterranean coast. In the framework of the monitoring program of the Guadalhorce Delta Wetlands, located between the branches of the ending river stretch, measurements of electrical conductivity in wetland water and groundwater table were performed, as well as the sampling of both water types. The results show a progressive increasing in the mineralization of wetland water, reaching values 50 times higher than the original ones. In the underlying aquifers, the mineralization of groundwater is generally less variable and lower than the recorded in the eighties and nineties, when a salt intrusion episode occurred. Before the river channel modification, the water flow from the aquifer to the wetlands and toward the river in its mouth was deduced. Today, the wetlands recharge locally the Quaternary aquifer and, consequently, induce the groundwater flow towards the both branches of the river and Mediterranean Sea. The variation of the morphodynamics in the Guadalhorce River mouth and the associated changes in land use have caused significant impacts on ground and surface water and their dependent wetlands.Universidad de Málaga. Optimización de intervenciones para el desplazamiento de poblaciones

    Get PDF

Total replacement of recycled aggregate and treated wastewater: concrete recycling in extremis

    Get PDF
Million tons of construction and demolition waste (CDW) are generated every year around the world, and most of them are not adequately disposed, generating significant pollution on water, soil and air. Additionally, the use of freshwater in industrial processes, such as the production of cement, concrete manufacturing and curing for newly-built structures; has damaged the health of our freshwater ecosystems, reducing their volume and hindering their natural cycle of renovation. Therefore, the incorporation of recycled aggregate (RA) and treated wastewater (TW) as substitutes for the usual aggregates (UA) and freshwater, could generate significant environmental benefits. In this research, a comparative analysis of the experimental results of the properties of fresh and hardened concrete with different replacement percentage of UA for RA, is presented; and as an innovation the use TW. The results show that, regardless of the replacement percentage and use of treated wastewater, a concrete with RA and TW (recycled concrete in extremis, CRiE) had a satisfactory and acceptable or equivalent performance, not differing significantly from the performance of conventional concrete (CC), confirming that the use of RA for concrete building is feasible.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Defining Adaptive Learning Paths For Competence-Oriented Learning

    Get PDF
This paper presents a way to describe educational itineraries in a competence-oriented learning system in order to solve the problem of sequencing several independent courses. The main objective is to extract adaptive learning paths composed by the subset of needed courses passed in the right order. This approach improves the courses’ re-usability allowing courses to be included in different itineraries, improving the re-usability of the courses, and making possible the definition of mechanisms to adapt the learning path to the learner’s needs in execution tim

This article provides a theoretical and methodological framework in which to place the impact or Value Added of the Best Practices with ICT in schools. To do so, starting from a description of policies of integration of IT and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in our country, and more specifically in the autonomous Andalusian community. Following are the main methodological approaches that guide the assessment of current education policies and, by extension, the integration of ICT policies. Policy analysis reflected in the concept of Good Practices as a way to evaluate the policies of integration of ICT in schools within the scope of effectiveness of schools and more specifically within the value-added models in education. Finally, we note that the methodological guidance in our work takes on the concept of added value, providing a list of indicators that can be used for the assessment of ICT policy based on the evaluation of schools and the development of teaching practices.

AbstractQuality control does not concern only to a finished product, nowadays measuring technologies control all the fabrication process in an active way. If product quality does not meet the customer specifications exists the risk of even lose projects. When multiple or complex operations are required in the fabrication process of a part and its dimensional validation is primordial and also happens that the operator has doubts about which step to follow or that the expert supervisor is not at the workshop for some reason, that is why comes the opportunity of implementing Augmented Reality (A.R.) technology in education and in a lean manufacturing process, as support for technician operators of machine-tools and coordinate-measuring machines, with the objective of helping the technician to perform, in a proper and timely manner, the step sequence of the process. It was proved that having A.R. as ally in the technician's education, the mistakes and time required to fulfill the machining and dimensioning of a part can be considerably reduced, as well as eliminate operator's dependency to the experts. At the end of the implementation, savings were found in the three stages analyzed, generating 27.36% savings in lathe process, 26.54% in milling and 45.16% in dimensional validation
