Abstract. Regular monitoring of the cardiovascular system is necessary not only for individuals predisposed to heart and vascular diseases, but is also of particular importance for persons with congenital diseases of other systems. One of the factors that could affect the normal development of the cardiovascular system may be congenital or early acquired hearing pathology. It should be noted that the age-related physiological characteristics of hemodynamic parameters may differ in individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss. Measurement of hemodynamic parameters in real time in young people with varying degrees of hearing loss in two age groups revealed deviations from the indicators of the control group, as well as between the indicators in different age groups. A number of hemodynamic parameters were analyzed, such as: blood pressure, heart rate, stroke volume, stroke volume index, cardiac output, cardiac index, systemic vascular resistance, systemic vascular resistance index, blood flow integral, ejection time, etc. We obtained significantly higher values of hemodynamic parameters and low values of systemic vascular resistance inindividuals with mild and moderate degree of hearing loss. The effect of arterial stiffness on hemodynamic parameters in patients with severe hearing loss was noted. These studies can be used for medical examinations of students, persons with disabilities; primary admission by a cardiologist of persons with concomitant diseases; functional diagnostics in sports medicine (among professional athletes, amateurs, participants of the Paralympic Games). Keywords: Diagnosis, cardiovascular system, hemodynamics, cardiac output, ultrasound methods

Perovskite oxide materials with the general formula of ABO3, where A is an alkali earth or rare earth metals and B is transition metals, have attracted much attention as cathodes for solid oxide fuel cells because of their high electronic conductivity and fast mobility of oxygen ions. The introduction of Ba2+ and Ln3+ ions with significantly different radii into the A-sites leads to a formation of layered perovskite-type structures which have formed due to the cations’ ordering in the alternating layers. Depending on the nature of rare earth and 3d metal, it was possible to obtain double LnBaM2O6-δ, triple LnBa2M3O9-δ, or quintuple Ln2Ba3M5O15-δ perovskites. The aim of the present work was studying the effect of Ln/Ba and Fe/Co ratio for the crystal and defect structure and properties of oxides in the Sm-Ba-Co-Fe-O system. Polycrystalline samples of SmBaCo2−xFexO6-δ and Sm2-εBa3+εFe5-yCoyO15-δ were prepared by the glycine–nitrate synthesis. Final annealing was performed at 1100°С in air during 120h with intermediate grindings, followed by slow cooling down to room temperature at a rate of about 100°/h. The structural parameters were refined by the Rietveld method using the Fullprof-2008 software. Transmission electron microscopy studies were performed using FEI Tecnai G2 30 UT microscope operated at 300kV. The changes of oxygen content in complex oxides were measured by coulometric titration method as a function of temperature and oxygen partial pressure. The absolute value of oxygen content in the samples was determined using a direct reduction in the TG cell by hydrogen flow and red-ox titration. Thermal expansion of samples was studied using Netzsch DIL 402C dilatometer within the temperature range 25 – 1100°С in air. Total conductivity and Seebeck coefficient were measured simultaneously using a 4-probe technique. The crystal structure of SmBaCo2−xFexO6-δ (0≤x≤0.5) was described by the orthorhombic ap×2ap×2ap cell (Pmmm sp. gr.), while SmBaCo2−xFexO6-δ (0.6≤x≤1.1) crystallized in the tetragonal structure, ap×ap×2ap cell (P4/mmm sp. gr.). The crystal structure of single-phase Sm2-εBa3+εFe5-yCoyO15-δ (ε = 0, y = 0.5–1.5; ε = 0.125, y = 0) determined by XRD was described as cubic (sp. gr. Pm3m). However, transmission electronic microscopy revealed that oxides possess tetragonal structure with 5-fold c parameter. The defect structure of oxides with double perovskite structure was described using the model based on the simple cubic perovskite SmMeO3 (Me = Co, Fe) as a reference state. Equilibrium constants and enthalpies of the point defects formation were refined. The concentrations of all defect species were calculated as functions of temperature and oxygen nonstoichiometry. The temperature dependencies of total conductivity for SmBaCo2−xFexO6-δ and Sm2-εBa3+εFe5-yCoyO15-δ possess maxima at approximately 300–350ºC in air. The partial substitution of iron for cobalt leads to a decrease in the conductivity value. Seebeck coefficient for all compounds reveals positive values within the entire temperature and oxygen partial pressure ranges that indicate predominant p-type conductivity. The dependencies of electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient versus oxygen nonstoichiometry were discussed on the basis of the defect structure models. The values of activation energy for fixed oxygen content values were calculated. This work was supported by the Russian Science Foundation (Grant № 18-73-00159

New insights from old cosmic rays: A novel analysis of archival KASCADE data

Cosmic ray data collected by the KASCADE air shower experiment are competitive in terms of quality and statistics with those of modern observatories. We present a novel mass composition analysis based on archival data acquired from 1998 to 2013 provided by the KASCADE Cosmic ray Data Center (KCDC). The analysis is based on modern machine learning techniques trained on simulation data provided by KCDC. We present spectra for individual groups of primary nuclei, the results of a search for anisotropies in the event arrival directions taking mass composition into account, and search for gamma-ray candidates in the PeV energy domain.Comment: Proceedings of the 37th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC2021), 12-23 July 2021, Berlin, Germany - Onlin

Clinical diagnostic approach in the treatment of chronic periodontitis in mandibular molars: Clinical cases

    Get PDF
Background. Inflammatory process in periapical tissues causes tooth extraction in more than 50% of cases. The development of chronic apical periodontitis can be triggered by an intracanal infection in undetected/missed root canal of the mandibular molars. The morphology of mandibular molars is distinguished by additional canals in the mesial root in some cases. Different studies reveal the middle mesial canal in 4.5% to 26% of cases with quite high incidence in youth. The dental therapy has been searching for effective approaches to diagnosis and treatment of chronic periodontitis, enabling the focus of chronic inflammation to be eliminated and the tooth to be saved. Case descriptions. The paper presents clinical cases of patients with destructive changes in bone tissues in the periapical region of the mesial root in mandibular molars. The developing of this pathology is associated with missed anatomy in the mesial root during primary endodontic treatment. The patients underwent clinical examination consisting of basic methods (interview, examination) and additional techniques (intraoral radiography). An additional middle mesial canal in the root of the mandibular molar was identified taking into account the complex morphology of the root system of the tooth and verified by its careful analysis and radiography. The final clinical diagnosis, chronic apical periodontitis (K04.5), was made following the obtained diagnostic results and the ICD-10 classification. Diagnostic examination and endodontic retreatment were performed using a dental operating microscope. Conclusion. An operating dental microscope provides visualization of microscopic anatomotopographical details, promoting the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of chronic apical periodontitis in mandibular molars. Using dental microscope facilitates systematization of the data obtained during the examination, making a final clinical diagnosis, and development of a reasonable personalized treatment plan focused on detecting an additional middle canal in the mesio-buccal canal of the mandibular molar. Due to the suggested approach, the long-term outcomes of endodontic treatment can be an objective assessed in dynamics, thereby improving the quality of treatment for chronic apical periodontitis in patients
