    Forty Years Without Luria With Luria

    The article compares five Luria International Memorial Congresses in Russia and some Luria Memorial Conferences abroad to prove the intensive and extensive development of Lurian approach. Such a development was assured by Lurian international school of psychologists (his colleagues, disciples and followers) who work or worked in different branches of psychology. The Lurian approach or Lurianism is defined as a combination of systemic and cultural-historical approaches. The specific Lurian approach in neuropsychology is determined by its subjects’ orientation. It means, that the Lurian neuropsychological analysis is not centered on a disease (its symptoms and severity, functional and cognitive disturbances), but on a subject: his personalexperience, health concepts, coping strategies and attitudes, social interactions and so on. Lurian neuropsychology is a ‘unified theory of cerebral and mental functions’. It explains why Lurianism still rests a source for development of both fundamental and applied psychology.     Actualization of Potential Life Experience in Normal Aging

    The paper search mechanisms for maintaining personality well-being at the stage of late ontogenesis, which is important for neuropsychology, gerontology and psychology. The authors analyze the preserved cognitive resource, acquired at the previous age stages, as a resource for life experience mobilization and providing adefinite level of intellectual and mental indicators in normal aging. The experience proves that preserved self-regulating abilities in elderly are the main condition of actualizing life experience potential. Specially organized environment in thematic art-groups providing the process of goal-oriented activity and adequate interpersonalinteraction is viewed as a determining factor of life experience implementation. The dynamics of viability components reflecting sustainable strategies of self-regulation is investigated and the results of this investigation are presented.     Effective chiral restoration in the rho'-meson in lattice QCD

    In simulations with dynamical quarks it has been established that the ground state rho in the infrared is a strong mixture of the two chiral representations (0,1)+(1,0) and (1/2,1/2)_b. Its angular momentum content is approximately the 3S1 partial wave which is consistent with the quark model. Effective chiral restoration in an excited rho-meson would require that in the infrared this meson couples predominantly to one of the two representations. The variational method allows one to study the mixing of interpolators with different chiral transformation properties in the non-perturbatively determined excited state at different resolution scales. We present results for the first excited state of the rho-meson using simulations with n_f=2 dynamical quarks. We point out, that in the infrared a leading contribution to rho'= rho(1450) comes from (1/2,1/2)_b, in contrast to the rho. Its approximate chiral partner would be a h_1(1380) state. The rho' wave function contains a significant contribution of the 3D1 wave which is not consistent with the quark model prediction.Comment: 4 pp, a few short remarks have been added, a reference updated.     Chiral symmetry restoration in excited hadrons, quantum fluctuations, and quasiclassics

    In this paper, we discuss the transition to the semiclassical regime in excited hadrons, and consequently, the restoration of chiral symmetry for these states. We use a generalised Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the interaction between quarks in the form of the instantaneous Lorentz-vector confining potential. This model is known to provide spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry in the vacuum via the standard selfenergy loops for valence quarks. It has been shown recently that the effective single-quark potential is of the Lorentz-scalar nature, for the low-lying hadrons, while, for the high-lying states, it becomes a pure Lorentz vector and hence the model exhibits the restoration of chiral symmetry. We demonstrate explicitly the quantum nature of chiral symmetry breaking, the absence of chiral symmetry breaking in the classical limit as well as the transition to the semiclassical regime for excited states, where the effect of chiral symmetry breaking becomes only a small correction to the classical contributions.Comment: RevTeX4, 20 pages, 4 Postscript figures, uses epsfig.sty, typos correcte

    NN interaction in a Goldstone boson exchange model

    Adiabatic nucleon-nucleon potentials are calculated in a six-quark nonrelativistic chiral constituent quark model where the Hamiltonian contains a linear confinement and a pseudoscalar meson (Goldstone boson) exchange interaction between quarks. Calculations are performed both in a cluster model and a molecular orbital basis, through coupled channels. In both cases the potentials present an important hard core at short distances, explained through the dominance of the [51]_{FS} configuration, but do not exhibit an attractive pocket. We add a scalar meson exchange interaction and show how it can account for some middle-range attraction.Comment: 32 pages with 12 eps figures incorporated, RevTeX. Final version published in PR

    Unified description of light- and strange-baryon spectra

    We present a chiral constituent quark model for light and strange baryons providing a unified description of their ground states and excitation spectra. The model relies on constituent quarks and Goldstone bosons arising as effective degrees of freedom of low-energy QCD from the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry. The spectra of the three-quark systems are obtained from a precise variational solution of the Schr\"odinger equation with a semirelativistic Hamiltonian. The theoretical predictions are found in close agreement with experiment.Comment: 9 pages, including 2 figure

    Short--range impurity in the vicinity of a saddle point and the levitation of the 2D delocalized states in a magnetic field

    The effect of a short--range impurity on the transmission through a saddle--point potential for an electron, moving in a strong magnetic field, is studied. It is demonstrated that for a random position of an impurity and random sign of its potential the impurity--induced mixing of the Landau levels diminishes {\em on average} the transmission coefficient. This results in an upward shift (levitation) of the energy position of the delocalized state in a smooth potential. The magnitude of the shift is estimated. It increases with decreasing magnetic field BB as B4B^{-4}.Comment: LaTeX, 20 page
