Relative matrix effects: A step forward using standard line slopes and ANOVA analysis
AbstractOne of the alternative methods to identify and study the matrix effect is by determination of “relative” matrix effect. In this experiment % coefficient of variance of standard line slopes are calculated. First, six standard lines are prepared from single plasma lot. In another experiment standard line slopes are compared from six different lots of plasma. All these standard curves are prepared by using three different types of IS (internal standard). From all these experiments it is observed that using SIL-IS (stable isotope labeled-internal standard) is one of the best approach in methods having matrix effects. Alternatively, analog IS is a cost effective approach. After comparing a large number of calibration curve slopes, it can be recommended that during every bioanalytical method validation, where the sample size is >50, scientist should perform the “relative” matrix effect experiment by standard line slope method. In selected cases, the precision of standard line slopes in six different lots of a biofluid was compared with precision values determined six times in a single lot. The results of these studies indicated that the variability of standard line slopes in different lots of a biofluid [precision of standard line slopes expressed as coefficient of variation, CV (%)] may serve as a good indicator of a relative matrix effect and, it is suggested, this precision value should not exceed 5% for the method to be considered reliable and free from the relative matrix effect liability
A Study on - Evaluating Marketing Strategies Adopted by Home Appliance for Economic Development in India
The domestic consumer electronics and durables sector have witnessed a substantial growth over the last few years. This sector plays an important part in the economy of the country and provides employment to millions of people, more importantly to a large number of women in the country. Giving consumers greater bargaining power which in turn has forced particular product to devise strategies that they consider suit the ever-changing marketing environment in order to be competitive and it's for reason that this study evaluated promotion, price variation, location and improved customer as strategies adopted for competitive edge and identify a strategy with greater returns. India can emerge as the future manufacturing hub for the region, provided there is adequate focus and support from the Government for this sector
Devising a Corporate Facility Location Strategy to Maximize Shareholder Wealth
Location decisions should consider all related impacts upon a firm’s shareholder wealth. Overall, firm cost savings available at alternative locations need to be carefully examined in addition to a location’s impact on corporate sales revenues. This article reviews relevant literature, discusses recent location decision considerations for several companies and empirically tests a model seeking to measure the impact corporate relocation decisions have upon shareholder wealth. In addition, a classification and listing of corporate location considerations is put forth to supplement the anecdotal illustrations discussed herein. Together these represent a "primer" for professionals and executives involved in corporate facility location decisions.
Contagion and REIT Stock Prices
This article investigates the contagious movement of real estate investment trust (REIT) stock prices in response to real estate news related to financial institutions' real estate portfolios. The basic hypothesis is that because real estate assets are traded infrequently, the market has incomplete information about their true value; thus, REIT stock prices react negatively to announcements of poorly performing real estate portfolios of financial institutions. Consistent with the hypothesis, significantly negative reactions to these announcements are found for a portfolio of sixty-nine REITs during the real estate crisis of 1989--91.

EFFECT OF FREQUENT BLOOD DONATION ON IRON STATUS OF BLOOD DONORS IN BURDWAN, WEST BENGAL, INDIA
Background: Anaemia was reported as one of the most important reasons for blood donor deferral and very frequent blood donation will have a negative impact on the health of the donor and quality of donated blood products. Aim: The purpose of the study was to assess the influence of frequency of blood donation on iron stores of the donors. Method: The study population were divided into five groups. Forty one were first time (control group), Thirty-eight were ≤ 10 times, thirty-two were 11-20 times, twenty seven were 21-50 times and seventeen were > 50 time blood donors. Pre-donation blood haemoglobin and serum ferritin assessment was done in each individual. Result: Serum ferritin of < 10 times/4years were not significantly reduced than first time healthy donors but > 10 times/4years donors onwards iron status were significantly reduced (p>0.001) progressively as frequency of donation increased and individuals potentially at risk for developing iron deficiency. Conclusion: It is the conclusion of this study that increased frequency of blood donation reduced the iron stores of donors. Therefore, volunteers who undergo repeated blood donation and professional donors should be advised on eating balanced diet as well as receive nutritional care especially in terms of iron supplementation. Key Words: Blood donation, Serum ferritin, Iron deficiency
