A closed-form formula for calculating the Fourier transform of time-limited signals

    Get PDF
A new method for calculating the Fourier transform of a function is developed. This method is based on the generalization of the jump formula which is used in calculating the Fourier series of periodic functions. The developed formula is a very user-friend and handy equation. Besides the application of developed routine for calculating the Fourier transform, it is very useful in evaluating the convergence rate of the Fourier transform of the functions. It is believed that the proposed relation will very soon be appeared in Engineering Mathematics text books and communitie

Data Censoring with Set-Membership Affine Projection Algorithm

In this paper, the set-membership affine projection (SM-AP) algorithm is utilized to censor non-informative data in big data applications. To this end, the probability distribution of the additive noise signal and the excess of the mean-squared error (EMSE) in steady-state are employed in order to estimate the threshold parameter of the single threshold SM-AP (ST-SM-AP) algorithm aiming at attaining the desired update rate. Furthermore, by defining an acceptable range for the error signal, the double threshold SM-AP (DT-SM-AP) algorithm is proposed to detect very large errors due to the irrelevant data such as outliers. The DT-SM-AP algorithm can censor non-informative and irrelevant data in big data applications, and it can improve the misalignment and convergence rate of the learning process with high computational efficiency. The simulation and numerical results corroborate the superiority of the proposed algorithms over traditional algorithms

Performance of Surfactant-Type Polyoxometalate, [(C16H33) N(CH3)3]6 [PV3W9O40] in Oxidative Desulfurization of Gas Condensate and Straight Run Gasoil

A Novel hybrid surfactant-type polyoxometalate, [(C16H33)N(CH3)3]6 [PV3W9O40] was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, SEM and EDX analyze. Oxidation of sulfur compounds in gas condensate with H2O2 as oxidant using surfactant-type polytangestovanado phosphoric catalyst and acetonitrile as solvent was studied. The total sulfur content of the samples was determined by UV Fluorescence. The catalyst were evaluated for the oxidative desulfurization of gas condensate from Ilam Refinery Company and straight-run diesel from Kermanshah Oil Refining. Results show that the catalysts keep the Keggin structure. The sulfur level of a gas condensate can be lowered from a few hundred 1800 µg/g to 83 µg/g only at 5 min and the sulfur removal 98.83% was obtained at 15 min. Also, the desulfurization rate of straight-run diesel can be up to 82% at 30 min. In addition, the reusability of catalyst after five times showed that the catalytic activity had a few decrease from 97.22 to 92.11 percent sulfur removal of gas condensate

Environmental Factors Affecting Health-Related Quality of Life: Nurses' Narrative Analysis

    Get PDF
The hospital environment is recognized as one of the most stressful workplaces. The impacts of the hospital environment on the health-related quality of life of nurses necessitate the consideration of their viewpoints in the field of design and maintenance of the hospital environment. Accordingly, this study aimed to identify environmental factors affecting the promotion of nurses' health-related quality of life. Methods: In this study, 10 nurses working in a selected hospital were chosen through purposeful sampling and participated in the narrative analysis. The required data were collected through narratives from semi-structured interviews with participants. The content of all narratives was evaluated by the thematic analysis. Results: The environmental factors affecting the nurses' health-related quality of life were classified into four main themes: physical environment”, “functional support of the environment”, “social support of the environment”, and “psychological support of the environment. Besides, the themes related to the physical environment were classified under space configurations and air quality. Furthermore, functional support was placed under ergonomics. Communications and territory were found as subsets of the theme of social support, while interior design, tranquility, light quality, air quality, and the sense of control were classified under the main theme of psychological support. The frequency of themes repeated in the narratives indicated that psychological support and the physical environment have the highest impact on the health-related quality of life of nurses. Conclusion: According to the findings of the study, policymakers, managers, and designers are recommended to try to understand nurses' perceptions of positive workplace components, and to introduce necessary environmental actions and interventions to promote the health-related quality of life of nursing staffs
