    Methodological approach for creating an IoT manufacturing application

    With the heterogeneity and diversity of electronic systems and their memory capacity, the Internet of Things technologies face several challenges, such as the difficulty in choosing a growing catalogue of IoT technologies and the lack of interoperability of these technologies. This leads to the creation of particular IoT architectures and to the selection of IoT technologies by trying and error approaches. We propose a methodological approach for creating an IoT application guided by the users’ needs and by the contextual environment. It enables the user to select the right hardware guided by the market supply and to check the performances of the IoT solutions. We implement and test our proposition in a picking system of a manufacturing factory.     A blockchain ontology for DApps development

    Decentralized Applications, or DApps, provide distributed trusted applications that use blockchains. They are often composed of several services, such as transaction scalability protocols, decentralized storage and distributed computing solutions. In order to help formalize these applications, facilitate their development and improve their interoperability, we propose a novel blockchain Ontology focused on the concepts involving DApps. This ontology extends the existing EthOn ontology. It defines several key concepts related to DApps development, as well as the relations between these concepts. It features the formalization of known use cases and design patterns of blockchain technology through blockchain patterns. We use Semantic Web Rule language (SWRL) in order to define rules that express constraints on the formalized concepts. We then execute an inference engine and obtain new constraints on the properties of a defined DApp, such as its cost, based on the DApp characteristics and the services it uses. For illustration we show the inference of constraints between the Ethereum blockchain and its sidechain Polygon. We apply our research work in the field of blockchain video games.     Multiple-View Integration in Product Data Modeling: Applying STEP Standard

    The multiple-view modeling of a product in a design context is discussed in this paper. We study the existing approaches for multiple-view modeling of a product and we give a brief analysis of them. Then we propose our approach which incorporates the multiple-model approach in STEP standard current works based on a single model. We propose a meta-model inspired by this approach for a multiple-view design environment. Next, we validate this meta-model with a case study.     Construction sustainability through visualisation of building operation

    International audienceThe maintenance phase of construction project exerts the biggest influence on project sustainability which is measured in terms of environmental, social and economic impacts. Building maintenance itself is profoundly influenced by decisions at the design phase. Typically, building maintenance programmes are designed using preventative or responsive approaches. While the former have an adverse impact on both the economic and environmental priorities, the responsive methods tend to compromise the interests of the users. It is therefore argued that the just-in-time methodology is the only approach that is capable of producing an optimised and balanced solution to building maintenance scheduling. However, due to its retrospective nature, this method has posed serious practical challenges. On the other hand, with the advent of visualisation technologies and virtual prototyping, we are now capable of making informed decisions about design parameters as well as generating building maintenance scheduling that would facilitate a just-in-time solution. This chapter presents a visual methodology for developing just-in-time solution through visualisation of the degradation of building components. To this end, the chapter presents the overall time-based visualisation model and demonstrates the simulation process for two major building components—the lighting and flooring systems
