This paper presents investigations into the development of an interval type-2 fuzzy logic control (IT2FLC) mechanism integrated with particle swarm optimization and spiral dynamic algorithm. The particle swarm optimization and spiral dynamic algorithm are used for enhanced performance of the IT2FLC by finding optimised values for input and output controller gains and parameter values of IT2FLC membership function as comparison purpose in order to identify better solution for the system. A new model of triple-link inverted pendulum on two-wheels system, developed within SimWise 4D software environment and integrated with Matlab/Simulink for control purpose. Several tests comprising system stabilization, disturbance rejection and convergence accuracy of the algorithms are carried out to demonstrate the robustness of the control approach. It is shown that the particle swarm optimization-based control mechanism performs better than the spiral dynamic algorithm-based control in terms of system stability, disturbance rejection and reduce noise. Moreover, the particle swarm optimization-based IT2FLC shows better performance in comparison to previous research. It is envisaged that this system and control algorithm can be very useful for the development of a mobile robot with extended functionality

Insights from unifying modern approximations to infections on networks

    Get PDF
Networks are increasingly central to modern science owing to their ability to conceptualize multiple interacting components of a complex system. As a specific example of this, understanding the implications of contact network structure for the transmission of infectious diseases remains a key issue in epidemiology. Three broad approaches to this problem exist: explicit simulation; derivation of exact results for special networks; and dynamical approximations. This paper focuses on the last of these approaches, and makes two main contributions. Firstly, formal mathematical links are demonstrated between several prima facie unrelated dynamical approximations. And secondly, these links are used to derive two novel dynamical models for network epidemiology, which are compared against explicit stochastic simulation. The success of these new models provides improved understanding about the interaction of network structure and transmission dynamics

This article discusses the concepts of contract in the perspective of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and its implementation in Sharia Capital Market, particularly in the issuance of Corporate Sukuk and State Sukuk (SBSN). The purpose of the study is to understand the concept of akad (contract) in Islamic perspective an its implementation in sukuk issuance, mainly related to the transfer of ownership from the sukuk issuer to the investor. This study reveals that the current practice of issuance of corporate sukuk in Indonesia is only based on two models of contracts, namely Ijârah and Mudhârabah contracts. In addition, the contract structure are also varied, depending on the type of the issuer business, the purpose of funding, and the choice of contract. In the future, the issuance of corporate sukuk should have a uniformed, standardized structure, while it still comply with syariah regulation

Flexible Framework For A Web Transactional Application

Software development project becomes difficult because of the complexity in the business requirements, rigid framework and unpredictable performance. These cause difficulties to deliver the software on time, to maintain it and to adapt to new requirements. This research proposes a Web-Based Transactional Application Architecture Framework (WTBF) to simplify the development of a complex software project by using template approach that contains assembled pieces of reusable software components. The framework provides a generalized component-based architectural template that can be reused by the users (software developer and an independent software vendor) to develop multi-tier transactional applications within a specific domain or for a new software project. One of its significant benefits is that users can concentrate on their business components development tasks instead of spending time on redeveloping basic software infrastructure from the scratch. The WTBF framework is developed by using the Java 2 Technology and the Model View Controller (MVC) is used for the architectural model

    1. Introduction Supply disruption such as overloading will cause interruptions of electricity supply to customers. The technicians have to manually locate the fault point and this tedious work may last for extended periods of time. The other reasons are the lack of use of efficient tools for operational planning and advanced methodology for quick detection of fault, isolation of the faulty section and service restoration. Currently, fault detection, isolation and service restoration takes a long time causing the interruption of supply for a longer duration

Multimedia environmental fate and transport model of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT): case study sayong river watershed

This study describes the development of a multimedia environmental fate and transport model of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) at Sayong River Watershed. Based on the latest estimated DDT emission, the DDT concentrations in air, soil, water, and sediment as well as the transfer flux were simulated under the equilibrium and steady-state assumption. Model predictions suggest that soil and sediment was the dominant sink of DDT. The results showed that the model predicted was generally good agreement with field data. Compared with degradation reaction, advection outflow was more important in removal processes of DDT. Sensitivities of the model estimates to input parameters were tested. The result showed that vapour pressure (Ps), chemical solubility (Cs), and absolute temperature (T) of DDT were the most influential parameters for the model output. The model output–concentrations of DDT in multimedia environment is very important as it can be used in future for human exposure and risk assessment of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) at Sayong River Basin
