Dynamics of a ring of three unidirectionally coupled Duffing oscillators with time-dependent damping

We study dynamics of a ring of three unidirectionally coupled double-well Duffing oscillators for three different values of the damping coefficient: fixed dumping, proportional to time, and inversely proportional to time. The dynamics in all cases is analyzed through time series, Fourier and Hilbert transforms, Poincar\'e sections, as well as bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents with respect to the coupling strength. In the first case, we observe a well-known route from a stable steady state to hyperchaos through Hopf bifurcation and a series of torus bifurcations, as the coupling strength is increased. In the second case, the system is highly dissipative and converges into one of stable equilibria. Finally, in the third case, transient toroidal hyperchaos takes place

Literary Experiences of Encyclopedist of 18th Century: Jean-Francois Marmontel

    Get PDF
The article is devoted to identifying the features of the formation of Jean-Francois Marmontel as a writer, journalist and encyclopedist who made a significant contribution to the literary education of the French society. The relevance of the research topic is due to the study of the views of the scientist that influenced the reception of established and new literary genres of the 18th century. The research methodology is based on a narrative approach in the historiographical perspective, as well as a biographical (cultural-anthropocentric) method that reveals the writer's biography as a typical manifestation of the socio-cultural processes of the age of the Enlightenment. The use of these methods determined the novelty of the study, as it contributed to the consideration of the dynamics of the views of the French educator J.-F. Marmontel and the determination of the degree of his literary contribution to the development of new genres of the moralizing novel and the epic novel, as well as the French Encyclopedia (Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des metiers). It is proved that for J. F. Marmontel the task of the writer was to educate the reader through his introduction to “belle literacy” (belles lettres). The material of the study was the literary works of J. F. Marmontel in French and Russian: poetic works, moralizing stories, novels, including his articles on literature, published in the first edition of the Encyclopedia. An analysis of the content of the French writer's works shows that they are educational and critical in nature, since their author skillfully mastered many literary genres in practice

The Quality of Heat-Insulating Masonry Mortar with Perlite

A quality for any building material including the dry construction mixtures is very important. This is a complex concept that includes a set of properties that determines their suitability for intended use. So the heat-insulating masonry mortar should simultaneously have a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, sufficient strength, sufficient frost resistance, etc. And the material not always possesses the characteristics that the manufacturer claims. In this regard it is of interest to conduct tests of finished products for their compliance both Russian Standard and presented characteristics. This work is devoted to main properties determination of heat-insulating masonry mortar produced by JSC "Quick-mix". © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Developmental and hormonal regulation of Arabidopsis thaliana ornithine-delta-aminotransferase

    Get PDF
Ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) catalyzes transfer of the delta-amino group from L-ornithine to oxo-glutarate. In plants, this reaction biochemically connects urea cycle, proline cycle, and polyamine biosynthesis pathway. OAT activity is shown to be associated with biotic and abiotic stress responses and nitrogen metabolism, but its physiological role is still unclear. In our study, we decided to investigate transcriptional regulation of the OAT gene in Arabidopsis thaliana under normal conditions and in response to various growth regulators. In the present work, the reporter gene construct containing the Escherichia coli β-glucuronidase gene (gus) under control of the A. thaliana OAT gene promoter was introduced into the genome of A. thaliana ecotype Columbia plants using the floral dip method; GUS activity was assayed in different experimental conditions including hormone treatment, low and high nitrogen and salinity. The GUS activity was analyzed histochemically. Plants were incubated with staining solution containing X-Gluc. We show that under standard growth conditions, the promoter is active during germination and in developing floral organs. OAT promoter activity specifically activates in response to different forms of auxin (IAA, NAA, and 2,4D), cytokinin (6- BAP), ethylene precursor (ACC), high nitrogen and salinity. Analysis of the OAT expression by qRT-PCR confirmed the pattern observed using the GUS reporter system. The OAT gene showed a significantly elevated expression in fourday- old seedlings and in plant roots in response to auxins and cytokinins. The analysis of the OAT promoter structure reveals cis-acting regulatory DNA elements associated with auxin regulation and abiotic stresses. The results of the study indicate that the OAT gene is involved in developmental processes and is regulated by auxin and cytokinins

Professional self-determination theory of senior pupils in Russian psychology

    Get PDF
The article analyses the psychological literature on the problem of senior pupils’ professional self-determination. The author’s theoretical and methodological position is elaborated and the results of its approbation are presented. It is shown that the available approaches can be divided into two main groups. Some researchers focus on the goal and end result of vocational self-determination, while others seek to reveal the algorithm of the process itself and/or its stages. Researchers are unanimous in their opinion that the choice of an occupation by senior pupils is the first and most responsible stage of professional self-determination for the individual as a whole. At the same time, the senior pupils’ professional self-determination concepts, which would reflect the unity of theoretical positions and methods of its study, are practically not presented in national psychology. To overcome the existing limitations, the article proposes to consider the senior pupils’ professional self-determination from the position of the activity approach as a special kind of activity with its own structure. The motivational component is the motives for choosing a career, while the operational component is the senior pupils’ professional identity status. The empirical study results of the of formation level of senior pupils’ professional self-determination are discussed on the basis of the activity methodology

Cosmic ray angular distribution dynamics during Forbush decrease in 3-4 November 2021

    Get PDF
On November 3-4, 2021, there was a coronal ejection of the solar mass into the interplanetary medium. According to direct observations of the interplanetary magnetic field and the solar wind, the ejection was accompanied by a magnetic cloud. During the event, neutron monitors of the NMDB network registered a two-stage Forbush decrease with a total amplitude of up to 15%. A preliminary analysis of the NMDB data shows that the first step was due to the cosmic ray decrease behind the shock wave front, while the second step was due to the cosmic ray anisotropy formed in the magnetic cloud. This work was undertaken to study the dynamics of the angular distribution of cosmic rays in this event. The cosmic ray distribution was determined using the global survey method developed at the ShICRA in the 1960s. The method makes it possible to use the worldwide network of neutron monitors as a single multidirectional instrument and to determine the hourly dynamics of CR distribution. It is shown that unidirectional and bidirectional anisotropies of significant amplitude are observed inside the magnetic cloud. The results obtained are discussed in the framework of modern theories of the formation of magnetic clouds. The temporal dynamics of the spatial-angular distribution of cosmic rays during the Forbush decrease on November 3–4, 2021 was determined. The presence of cosmic ray anisotropy with an amplitude comparable to the magnitude of the density decrease itself was found
