    Desde a Doutrina Monroe, a América Latina tem se configurado como zona de influência importante para os interesses dos Estados Unidos. Esse país atuou durante anos e, continua atuando, como ator hegemônico, tanto na esfera global quanto regional. Contudo, frente às novas configurações de poder estabelecidas em tempos de globalização e interdependência econômica, Brasil e Venezuela surgem como alternativas à liderança norte-americana na América Latina. Frente esse cenário, o presente trabalho abordará a temática da liderança regional na América Latina e o posicionamento dos Estados Unidos em relação a essas duas alternativas. Verificou-se assim, que a liderança brasileira já é vista como legitima por parte dos Estados Unidos e positiva ao interesse dos mesmos.     Dentro del contexto relacionado con el estudio de la incapacidad temporal de alguna manera podría considerarse a través de sus antecedentes legislativos próximos, recorrer su definición, alcance, características, límites, los sujetos que intervienen en ella; como a profundizar en su objeto de protección en el curso del contrato de trabajo, para Expresar que la exigencia del permiso para despedir al trabajador en debilidad manifiesta, crea una zona difusa entre las concepciones de incapacidad temporal y discapacidad en el contexto de la estabilidad laboral. Explorar cual es el ámbito de los derechos del trabajador incapacitado temporalmente y confrontar la problemática de la extensión de derechos del trabajador con discapacidad, permitirá que emerjan soluciones como alternativa de protección al trabajador incapacitado temporalmente, separando la aplicación del fuero de discapacidad y por tanto consolidando dos instituciones independientes. Ante esta situación podría también acercarse a este significativo aumento de los índices en relación al nivel de ausentismo al que se enfrentan día a día las empresas conlleva a la necesidad de instaurar medidas de mitigación y control al tema, para analizar las consecuencias económicas que atentan la sostenibilidad empresarial. El presente estudio pretende caracterizar las causas que generan ausentismo laboral en la empresa HUMAN TALENT S.A.S., con el fin de diseñar un sistema de acciones de carácter preventivo y de promoción de la salud, que permitan minimizar los niveles de ausentismo.     Use efficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by potato cultivars

    Knowledge about nutrients use efficiency in production of tubers in different potato varieties provides important basis to optimize the use of fertilizers in the crop. Thus, this study aimed to determine the productivity and the coefficient of biological utilization (kg of dry matter produced per kg of accumulated nutrient) of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) of thirteen potato cultivars, and compare the extraction and the exportation of N, P and K of Ágata, Asterix and Atlantic cultivars that present low, medium and high content of dry matter, respectively. The treatments consisted of thirteen potato cultivars: Ágata, Atlantic, FL2215, FL2027, FL1867, FL2221, Asterix, BRSIPR Bel, Cupido, Nicolet, Accumulator, Verdi and Taurus. FL2027 cultivar was more productive. The cultivars differs as the coefficient of biological utilization of N, P and K. The Atlantic cultivar extracted and exported more N, P and K than Ágata and Asterix

    The human otitis media with effusion: a numerical-based study

    Otitis media is a group of inflammatory diseases of the middle ear. Acute otitis media and otitis media with effusion (OME) are its two main types of manifestation. Otitis media is common in children and can result in structural alterations in the middle ear which will lead to hearing losses. This work studies the effects of an OME on the sound transmission from the external auditory meatus to the inner ear. The finite element method was applied on the present biomechanical study. The numerical model used in this work was built based on the geometrical information obtained from The visible ear project. The present work explains the mechanisms by which the presence of fluid in the middle ear affects hearing by calculating the magnitude, phase and reduction of the normalized umbo velocity and also the magnitude and phase of the normalized stapes velocity. A sound pressure level of 90 dB SPL was applied at the tympanic membrane. The harmonic analysis was performed with the auditory frequency varying from 100 Hz to 10 kHz. A decrease in the response of the normalized umbo and stapes velocity as the tympanic cavity was filled with fluid was obtained.     A computational framework to simulate the endolymph flow due to vestibular rehabilitation maneuvers assessed from accelerometer data

    Vertiginous symptoms are one of the most common symptoms in the world, therefore investing in new ways and therapies to avoid the sense of insecurity during the vertigo episodes is of great interest. The classical maneuvers used during vestibular rehabilitation consist in moving the head in specific ways, but it is not fully understood why those steps solve the problem. To better understand this mechanism, a three-dimensional computational model of the semicircular ducts of the inner ear was built using the finite element method, with the simulation of the fluid flow being obtained using particle methods. To simulate the exact movements performed during rehabilitation, data from an accelerometer were used as input for the boundary conditions in the model. It is shown that the developed model responds to the input data as expected, and the results successfully show the fluid flow of the endolymph behaving coherently as a function of accelerometer data. Numerical results at specific time steps are compared with the corresponding head movement, and both particle velocity and position follow the pattern that would be expected, confirming that the model is working as expected. The vestibular model built is an important starting point to simulate the classical maneuvers of the vestibular rehabilitation allowing to understand what happens in the endolymph during the rehabilitation process, which ultimately may be used to improve the maneuvers and the quality of life of patients suffering from vertigo.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Biomechanical Study of the Vestibular System of the Inner Ear Using a Numerical Method

    The inner ear has two main parts, the cochlea, dedicated to hearing, and the vestibular system, dedicated to balance. Dizziness and vertigo are the main symptoms related to vestibular disorders, which commonly affects older people. In order to eliminate these symptoms a vestibular rehabilitation is performed; this consists in a range of movements of the head, known as maneuvers, performed by a clinical professional. This procedure does not always work as expected. The aim of this work is to contribute to a better understanding on how the vestibular system works. This knowledge will help in the development of new techniques that will facilitate a more efficient rehabilitation. In order to achieve that goal, a three-dimensional numerical model of the vestibular system, containing the fluids which promote the body balance, was constructed. The vestibular components will be discretized using the finite element method and the fluid flow will be analyzed using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics The results obtained with the numerical model of the semicircular canal built to study the rehabilitation process are presented and compared with other authors.
