Remarks on Legendrian Self-Linking
The Thurston-Bennequin invariant provides one notion of self-linking for any
homologically-trivial Legendrian curve in a contact three-manifold. Here we
discuss related analytic notions of self-linking for Legendrian knots in
Euclidean space. Our definition is based upon a reformulation of the elementary
Gauss linking integral and is motivated by ideas from supersymmetric gauge

Lepra vulgaris. History of Psoriasis
Background: The history of psoriasis, remains highly speculative for the time before Willan (1757-1812), and can be reliably assigned only for the last 200 years. Terms such as "Leprosy", "Impetigo" and "Psora" have been used in the centuries before. Hebra (1806-1880) gave a morphological and nosologic definition, in which also the histopathology appearance was taken into account. In the early 20th century, it was the biochemistry and histochemistry, which provided new insights. In the second half of the 20th century, immunocytochemistry and immunology shed some light on the pathogenetic processes of the disease. At the end of the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st century, it is the triumph of genetics and immunology, which have opened new therapeutic
possibilities due to the interesting insights into the pathogenesis of psoriasis. However besides the new therapeutic modalities, which harbor some health and some economic threats, classical approaches still remain valuable tools
The geometry of recursion operators
We study the fields of endomorphisms intertwining pairs of symplectic
structures. Using these endomorphisms we prove an analogue of Moser's theorem
for simultaneous isotopies of two families of symplectic forms. We also
consider the geometric structures defined by pairs and triples of symplectic
forms for which the squares of the intertwining endomorphisms are plus or minus
the identity. For pairs of forms we recover the notions of symplectic pairs and
of holomorphic symplectic structures. For triples we recover the notion of a
hypersymplectic structure, and we also find three new structures that have not
been considered before. One of these is the symplectic formulation of
hyper-Kaehler geometry, which turns out to be a strict generalization of the

Weak and strong fillability of higher dimensional contact manifolds
For contact manifolds in dimension three, the notions of weak and strong
symplectic fillability and tightness are all known to be inequivalent. We
extend these facts to higher dimensions: in particular, we define a natural
generalization of weak fillings and prove that it is indeed weaker (at least in
dimension five),while also being obstructed by all known manifestations of
"overtwistedness". We also find the first examples of contact manifolds in all
dimensions that are not symplectically fillable but also cannot be called
overtwisted in any reasonable sense. These depend on a higher-dimensional
analogue of Giroux torsion, which we define via the existence in all dimensions

Calabi-Yau cones from contact reduction
We consider a generalization of Einstein-Sasaki manifolds, which we
characterize in terms both of spinors and differential forms, that in the real
analytic case corresponds to contact manifolds whose symplectic cone is
Calabi-Yau. We construct solvable examples in seven dimensions. Then, we
consider circle actions that preserve the structure, and determine conditions
for the contact reduction to carry an induced structure of the same type. We
apply this construction to obtain a new hypo-contact structure on S^2\times

State business: gender, sex and marriage in Tajikistan
This article examines the relation of the state to masculinity and sexuality by way of an exploration of the sexual problems of a young man and his wife in Tajikistan at the end of the Soviet era. It suggests that the regimeâs inattention to this kind of issue was bound up with the importance to the state of projecting appropriate versions of masculinity. It further posits the idea that the continued refusal of the independent Tajik state to offer appropriate treatments for sexual dysfunction is consistent with the image of modernity President Rahmon wishes to present to the world. The article shows that as masculinity discursively occupies the superior gender position, with men expected to dominate, the state is itself impotent to respond when they are, in fact, unable to do so in sexual practice. However, the myth of male dominance persists to the point that it may prevent women from seeing beyond their subordination and finding mutually beneficial solutions in their familial and sexual relationships
The f_LT Response Function of D(e,e'p)n at Q^2=0.33(GeV/c)^2
The interference response function f_LT (R_LT) of the D(e,e'p)n reaction has
been determined at squared four-momentum transfer Q^2 = 0.33 (GeV/c)^2 and for
missing momenta up to p_miss= 0.29 (GeV/c). The results have been compared to
calculations that reproduce f_LT quite well but overestimate the cross sections
by 10 - 20% for missing momenta between 0.1 (GeV/c) and 0.2 (GeV/c) .Comment: 12 Pages, 10 figure
A measurement of the axial form factor of the nucleon by the p(e,e'pi+)n reaction at W=1125 MeV
The reaction p(e,e'pi+)n was measured at the Mainz Microtron MAMI at an
invariant mass of W=1125 MeV and four-momentum transfers of Q^2=0.117, 0.195
and 0.273 (GeV/c)^2. For each value of Q^2, a Rosenbluth separation of the
transverse and longitudinal cross sections was performed. An effective
Lagrangian model was used to extract the `axial mass' from experimental data.
We find a value of M_A=(1.077+-0.039) GeV which is (0.051+-0.044) GeV larger
than the axial mass known from neutrino scattering experiments. This is
