    Tektekan Calonarang At Puri Anyar Kerambitan

    This study aims at presenting the comprehensive insight on the commodification of Tektekan Calonarang in Puri Anyar Kerambitan which uses sacred barong and rangda for tourism. The data was collected through observation, in depth-interview, and literature study. The collected data then analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method. The theories of deconstruction, social practice, aesthetic, and power/knowledge are used to undertake this study. The results of the study reveal that positive and negative influences of tourism occur in the context of traditional performing arts. The emergence of creativity is very evident in the rapid development of various types of performing arts in Bali including the increasing number of art activists, but at the same time several sacred dances including ritual procession elements, such as Tektekan Calonarang in Puri Anyar Kerambitan have become in between sacred or profane because they have been shown to tourists

    Catuspatha Spatial Concept in Denpasar City

    Denpasar city is an urban-multicultural city throughout its history when diverse ethnics settled in the city due to various interests, such as business trade, labors, politics, missionaries.  Those factors have made Denpasar get more and more populous city and it affects to the utilized space in the urban city. For instance, space for offices, business, open space of city park, and resident purposes. Regarding the spatial utility in the municipal city, however, there are few people are aware on the essence of catuspatha spatial concept. In fact, the existence of crossroad or catuspatha with a statue or shrine in the urban-multicultural city has a unique and distinctive characteristic. Its essence as a local wisdom maintains the spatial forms and spatial meanings. This study is aimed at revealing the spatial form and meaning in the main crossroads in Denpasar city with the concept of catuspatha which can be proposed as another cite of Denpasar heritage city to support the development of cultural tourism in Bali. By applying the descriptive qualitative research method, the data, both primary and secondary, were collected through participant observation, interview, and literature study.&nbsp

    Kinerja seorang pramuwisata sangat penting terhadap kepuasan wisatawan ketika wisatawan tersebut melakukan aktivitas wisata di sebuah destinasi. Salah satu faktor penting untuk memberikan kepuasan wisatawan adalah melalui penguasaan bahasa, karena jika pramuwisata menguasai suatu bahasa dengan baik, maka komunikasi akan berjalan lancar dan semua informasi dapat tersampaikan dengan baik. Dalam hal ini, penguasaan bahasa Rusia yang tergolong masih baru di industri pariwisata Bali sangat diperlukan oleh wisatawan Rusia untuk mendapatkan informasi yang memadai tentang kebudayaan masyarakat lokal.   Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menelaah tentang peningkatan penguasaan bahasa Rusia oleh pramuwisata sebagai sebuah kualitas pelayanan untuk kepuasan wisatawan Rusia. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif yang datanya dikumpulkan melalui observasi terhadap penanganan wisatawan Rusia di lapangan, wawancara langsung dengan pramuwisata, dan studi dokumen. Data yang telah diklasifikasikan dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan paradigma metodologis induktif. Hasil analisis data disajikan dengan metode formal dan informal. Berdasarkan tuntutan wisatawan Rusia untuk mendapatkan pelayanan prima, penguasaan bahasa Rusia pramuwisata telah mengalami peningkatan yang sangat signifikan. Peningkatan penguasaan bahasa Rusia sebagai kompetensi komunikatif pramuwisata berkontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kualitas layanan untuk kepuasan wisatawan Rusia

    Bali Tourism Destination and Russian-Tourist Market Development

    Bali tourist destination areas, especially cultural and natural tourism activities have become an attraction for foreign tourists, especially Russian tourists. This research aims at investigating the development of Russian-tourist market in sustainable Bali tourism destination from economic, socio-cultural, and environmental aspects. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach starting with assumptions and theoretical framework. The study was conducted by observation, interviews with the informants were selected by purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted with qualitative descriptive analysis and supported by tourism development theory. The results of the study revealed that Bali has the attraction of being a comfortable place to visit among Russian tourists. In addition, coordination between Bali Tourism stakeholders is needed for the development of marine tourism attractions, cultural appreciation that is based on the empowerment of local communities, and environmental preservation, which underlied by the local genius philosophy of Tri Hita Karana and Sad Kertih

    Russian-speaking tour guide’s language mastery: mastering foreign language for quality service assurance

    A professional tour guide is regarded as a front-liner of the tourism and the ambassador of his/her country. Therefore, the performance of a tour guide is very important as a quality assurance of services in order to fulfil the tourists’ satisfaction. This study aims at investigating the mastery level of the tour guide’s Russian language related to the quality assurance of uniform services in meeting the tourists’ satisfaction. By applying a descriptive qualitative research, the data was collected through observation, interview, and document review. The theory used to undertake this study is communicative competence (grammar, sociolinguistics, and communicative strategic). The study reveals that the mastery of Russian language for a professional tour guide has been proven to meet the expectation of Russian tourists to get the excellent service as a quality assurance to provide the tourist satisfaction so that products prepared by travel agents and purchased by the tourist are carried out properly

    Calendars are the order of days and dates used as guidelines for human life activities periodically. Balinese calendar system of the Saka and Pawukon is very important in the socio-cultural life of the Balinese people who firmly hold a concept of harmonious life. They believe that this universe will be harmonious when humans can maintain good relations with God, fellow human beings, and the universe in a balanced way. This study aims at investigating the Balinese calendar system from its underlying-philosophical perspective as well as utilized-daily practices among the Hindu Balinese life. The theory used to undertake this study is semiotics by providing a sustained and rigorous relation between the signifier (sign) and signified (meaning). By applying a descriptive qualitative research, the data was collected through literature study of the Balinese calendar library and in-depth interviews with some stakeholders of the Balinese customary community, such as priests, and Balinese calendar practitioners and observers including the writer’s direct practices. The data that has been classified is analyzed by a qualitative descriptive method with an inductive-methodological paradigm which is setting up the discussion from particular principles to the general in order to obtain a conclusion. The result of data analysis is presented by the formal and informal method. The study reveals that Balinese calendar system has an important role in the social life of the Balinese Hindu community as a reference in the social and cultural life, such as determining ala ayuning dewasa or the bad and good time in carrying out a business or a work, tracing one’s birthday, and predicting personal traits
