Caracterização da condição física e fatores de risco cardiovascular de policiais militares rodoviários

ResumoObjetivoO objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar os níveis de condição, composição corporal e pressão arterial de policiais rodoviários do estado do Paraná - Brasil.MétodoFizeram parte da amostra 52 oficiais do sexo masculino (idade: 38,3±6,3 anos, massa corporal: 89,6±18,4kg) de diferentes patentes. Foram realizadas diversas mensurações para obtenção do índice de massa corporal (IMC), circunferência de cintura (CC), relação cintura/quadril (RCQ), composição corporal por meio da espessura de dobras cutâneas, potência aeróbia estimada indiretamente em teste de esforço ergométrico, resistência muscular localizada (RML) de membros superiores e abdominal e os níveis pressóricos foram aferidos por método auscultatório.ResultadosConsiderando as variáveis analisadas, os policiais rodoviários apresentaram IMC de 28,6±4,8kg/m2, risco cardiovascular elevado (95,4±10,8cm) para CC e alto (0,92±0,05) para RCQ. O percentual de gordura corporal apresentou-se acima dos valores recomendáveis (23,6±4,3 %) para saúde, a potência aeróbia estimada foi considerada boa (34,8±1,1ml/kg/min), a RML de membros superiores (21±8 repetições) e foi obtida por realização dos testes de abdominal e flexão de braço, respectivamente (28±8 repetições) foram classificadas como média e uma parcela importante dos oficiais (23 %) mostraram-se com níveis pressóricos elevados.ConclusãoOs policiais militares rodoviários mostraram-se com níveis inadequados de condição física, apresentando excesso de peso e adiposidade corporais, e, uma parcela importante, exibiu níveis pressóricos elevados, sugerindo elevado risco cardiovascular.AbstractObjectiveThe aim of this study was to assess the physical fitness, body composition and blood pressure of highway police officers in the state of Paraná, Brazil.MethodThe sample consisted of 52 male (38.3±6.3 years old, 89.6±18.4kg) where the following determinations were performed: body mass index (BMI); waist circumference (WC); waist/hip ratio (WHR); body composition (skinfold thickness); aerobic power (indirectly estimated in a treadmill test); muscle strength of the upper limbs was measured by the number of push-ups and abdominal strength by the number of crunches (ES) and blood pressure (measured by auscultatory method).ResultsThe highway police officers had a BMI classified as mild obesity (28.6±4.8kg/m2), and a higher cardiovascular risk as determined by WC (95.4±10.8cm) and WHR (0.92±0.05). The percentage of body fat was above the recommended values (23.6±4.3 %) but the aerobic power was considered good (34.8±1.1ml/kg/min). Mean ES upper body (21±8 repetitions) and abdomen (28±8 repetitions) were qualified as fair but mean blood pressure was considered high in 23 % of the police officers.ConclusionBased on our results it was possible to conclude that although the police officers presented good levels of aerobic power and muscle strength, they are overweight and showed a higher cardiovascular risk

A fundamentação filosófica ocidental da ética militar e suas implicações ao poder aeroespacial / The Western philosophical foundation of military ethics and its implications for aerospace power

O atual contexto de ampla relativização perniciosa dos referenciais morais da vida em sociedade tem transbordado para uma distorção de princípios éticos nos quartéis. Esta vulnerabilidade impacta nas Forças Armadas ao ocupá-las com inimigos internos e burocracia inoperante, tornando-as disfuncionais para a Defesa do país em prol da Segurança do Estado. Em razão deste panorama, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo fornecer o arcabouço teórico para fundamentação conceitual filosófica da Ética Militar e suas implicações ao Poder Aeroespacial, almejando especificamente ser instrumento de diminuição dessa vulnerabilidade por meio de melhoria no planejamento do ensino militar e formação ética profissional dos oficiais de Força Aérea, que são os administradores profissionais da corporação, por meio de bases acadêmicas seguras. Para isso são feitas análises reflexivas com conclusões parciais e, por fim, levando em conta o apontamento das limitações da pesquisa, constrói-se a síntese da fundamentação teórica para o tipo ideal de Ética Militar, considerando as Revoluções Militares que deram origem ao contexto em que a geopolítica do Poder Aeroespacial está inserida

Effect of Different Adhesive Strategies on Bond Quality of Fiber Posts Cemented in Endodontically Treated Teeth

Introduction: The purpose of this in vitro study was to assess the effects of anatomic root levels, different adhesive strategies and cementation system on bond strength (BS), nano leakage (NL) and degree of conversion (DC) after fiber posts cementation. Methods and Materials: Sixty-six roots of human premolars were endodontically prepared and divided according to the combination of adhesive application technique (manual passive, manual active and active vibratory) and the cementation system (Adper Single Bond 2/RelyX ARC [SBAR] and Single Bond Universal/RelyX Ultimate [SBUL]). Specimens were transversally sectioned into six 1-mm-thick serial slices, which were subjected to BS testing (n=7), to NL analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) after slice immersion in silver nitrate (n=2), and micro-Raman spectroscopy for DC (n=2). Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Bonferroni post-hoc test (α=5%). Results: Bond strength values significantly increased with active vibratory application technique (P<0.001), no significant difference was noted between adhesive systems. The cementation system Single Bond Universal/RelyX Ultimate demonstrated the lowest nano leakage values (P<0.05). The manual active and vibratory application techniques showed statistically higher degree of conversion values than the manual passive technique at the coronal and medium thirds (P<0.05); and the lowest results were observed with manual passive application to Single Bond Universal/RelyX Ultimate (P=0.016). Conclusion: The study concluded that techniques with active application (vibratory and manual) resulted in higher bond strength values. Surgical-Orthodontic Traction for Impacted Maxillary Canines: A Critical Review and Suggested Protocol

Maxillary canine impaction is a common occurrence, especially in the palate, despite sufficient space in the arch for tooth alignment. A proper approach requires knowledge of different specialties of dentistry, such as orthodontics, surgery, radiology, and periodontology, which are generally not centered on a single professional. The causes for canine impaction may be either generalized or localized, and the diagnosis should be made through specific clinical and radiographic examination. The prognosis of surgical-orthodontic treatment depends on the position of the canine in relation to the neighboring teeth and height of the alveolar process, in addition to careful surgical technique, considering that there are risks involved, such as ankylosis, loss of tooth vitality, root resorption of the involved tooth and adjacent teeth, and damage to supporting tissues. Given the important role played by impacted maxillary canines, their traction is the treatment of choice in orthodontically treated patients. Construction schedule 21 of basin river São João

A Educação Ambiental é um processo que contribui na divulgação de informações sobre o ambiente, a fim de que as comunidades possam identificar e resolver possíveis situações-problema na localidade onde vive. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo geral elaborar a Agenda 21 da bacia do rio São João de forma participativa com a comunidade, a fim de que esta possa assumir o compromisso de cuidar dos rios dessa bacia. Utilizando-se método participativo, foram realizadas três Oficinas do Futuro (Muro das Lamentações, Árvore da Esperança e Caminho Adiante) com a intenção de que a comunidade participante desses encontros pudesse interagir e, assim, fornecer dados para a elaboração da Agenda 21 para a bacia. Os resultados obtidos através das oficinas serviram de base para a elaboração de Planos de Ação que visam à conservação e preservação da bacia do rio São João. A execução de planos de ação e sua fiscalização ficaram a cargo da Prefeitura Municipal de Carambeí e da própria comunidade. Nota-se que a construção da Agenda 21 contribuiu para interiorizar a questão ambiental na esfera municipal e com o desenvolvimento dos programas de Educação Ambiental formal e não formal espera-se que a população incorpore e coloque em prática os princípios e valores ambientais que contribuirão com o processo de recuperação e melhoria da qualidade da água da bacia do rio São João.Environmental education is a process that contributes to disseminating environmental information. Communities can identify and solve potential local problems. This research was aimed at establishing the overall Agenda 21 for São João basin together with the community so that it can commit to protecting the basin. Using a participatory method, three workshops were held for the Future (Western Wall, Tree of Hope and The Way Forward) in order to make the community participate and to give data for preparing Agenda 21. The results obtained through the workshops were used to make action plans to conserve and preserve the Basin of São João River. Their implementation and enforcement were the responsibility of the City Hall and community of Carambeí. We consider that drawing up Agenda 21 contributed to internalizing the environmental issue at the municipal level. Formal and non-formal environmental education programs are expected to be developed in order to include the population and to apply those principles and environmental values that contribute to recovering and improving the water quality in São João River.Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevide
