The INTEGRAL-OMC Scientific Archive
The Optical Monitoring Camera (OMC) on-board the INTEGRAL satellite has, as
one of its scientific goals, the observation of a large number of variable
sources previously selected. After almost 6 years of operations, OMC has
monitored more than 100 000 sources of scientific interest. In this
contribution we present the OMC Scientific Archive
(http://sdc.laeff.inta.es/omc/) which has been developed to provide the
astronomical community with a quick access to the light curves generated by
this instrument.We describe the main characteristics of this archive, as well
as important aspects for the users: object types, temporal sampling of light

Knowledge in transition in healthcare
Organizations are challenged by the need to transform Dynamic Knowledge, embedded in each worker, into Static Knowledge, rooted in factual documental information. However, innovation and knowledge creation seem to be facilitated by the personal knowledge and life experiences of people, which appear to be dynamic. The tensions between Dynamic and Static Knowledge in facilitating the transfer and sharing of knowledge arise as compelling research as well as practical topic for organizations. Our paper aims to investigate such tensions by employing a case study. We decided to deepen such dynamics in the healthcare field, given its importance for business and society. In more detail, we analyzed one Emergency Room (ER) department through a series of interviews. Our findings highlight the importance of the right balance between Static and Dynamic Knowledge. On the one hand, the healthcare organization recognized the need to incorporate knowledge into practical and tangible instruments. On the other hand, the flows of Dynamic Knowledge must be fostered through a culture of knowledge translation and sharing, and the development of soft skills
Determinación de las variables psicológicas y deportivas relevantes a las lesiones deportivas : un análisis bayesiano
Este estudio analiza la relación entre variables psicológicas y las lesiones deportivas. Participaron en el estudio un total de 297 deportistas, de 26 distintos deportes. Se recogieron variables biomédicas, deportivas, psicológicas y referentes a la lesión deportiva. El análisis de los datos se llevó a cabo por medio de redes Bayesianas. Nuestros resultados parecen indicar que una elevada probabilidad de autoeficacia produce dependencia estadística de más probabilidad de lesión deportiva. Esta variable recibe influencias antecedentes tanto de variables biomédicas (IMC) como de variables psicológicas (estrés). También existen variables consecuentes a la lesión: uso de estrategias de afrontamiento, y locus de control.This study analyzes the relationship between psychological and physical variables and sports injuries. A total of 297 athletes from 26 different sports participated in the study. Variables related to biomedical, psychological and sports injuries were collected. The analysis of data was performed through Bayesian networks. Our results suggest that a high probability of self-efficacy produce statistical dependence to high likelihood of sports injuries. This variable receives previous influences of biomedical variables (BMI) and psychological variables (stress). There are also consequential variables to the injury: coping strategies, and locus of control.Este estudo analisa a relação entre as variáveis psicológicas e as lesões esportivas. Participaram no estudo um total de 297 atletas de 26 deportos distintos. Foram recolhidas variáveis biomédicas, desportivas, psicológicos e referentes à lesão desportiva. A análise de dados foi realizada através de redes de Bayesianas. Os nossos resultados sugerem que uma alta probabilidade de auto-eficácia produz dependência de maior probabilidade de lesão desportiva. Esta variável recebe as influências antecedentes tanto de variáveis biomédicas (IMC) como de variáveis psicológicas (stress). Transcriptome profiling of Set5 and Set1 methyltransferases: Tools for visualization of gene expression
AbstractCells regulate transcription by coordinating the activities of multiple histone modifying complexes. We recently identified the yeast histone H4 methyltransferase Set5 and discovered functional overlap with the histone H3 methyltransferase Set1 in gene expression. Specifically, using next-generation RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), we found that Set5 and Set1 function synergistically to regulate specific transcriptional programs at subtelomeres and transposable elements. Here we provide a comprehensive description of the methodology and analysis tools corresponding to the data deposited in NCBI's Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) under the accession number GSE52086. This data complements the experimental methods described in Mas Martín G et al. (2014) and provides the means to explore the cooperative functions of histone H3 and H4 methyltransferases in the regulation of transcription. Furthermore, a fully annotated R code is included to enable researchers to use the following computational tools: comparison of significant differential expression (SDE) profiles; gene ontology enrichment of SDE; and enrichment of SDE relative to chromosomal features, such as centromeres, telomeres, and transposable elements. Overall, we present a bioinformatics platform that can be generally implemented for similar analyses with different datasets and in different organisms
On Mott-Schottky analysis interpretation of capacitance measurements in organometal perovskite solar cells
Capacitance response of perovskite-based solar cells (PSCs) can be exploited to infer underlying physical mechanisms, both in the materials bulk and at outer interfaces. Particularly interesting is applying the depletion layer capacitance theory to PSCs, following common procedures used with inorganic and organic photovoltaic devices. Voltage-modulation of the depletion layer width allows extracting relevant parameters as the absorber defect density and built-in potential by means of the Mott-Schottky (MS) analysis. However, the uncritical use of the MS technique may be misleading and yields incorrect outcomes as a consequence of masking effects that accumulation capacitances, commonly observed in PSCs, produce on the measured capacitance value. Rules are provided here to select the measuring frequency that allows extracting depletion layer capacitance, and the voltage range in which it dominates, avoiding accumulation capacitive parasitic contributions. It is noted that the distinction of the depletion capacitance from the accumulation capacitance is only feasible in the case of perovskite layers containing significant defect density (∼1017 cm−3). It is confirmed that MS reproducibility is assured by hysteresis reduction at slow scan rates, and positive bias starting polarization. Why non-technical skills matter in surgery. New paradigms for surgical leaders
The surgical literature is paying more and more attention to the topic of soft or non-technical skills (NTS), defined as
those cognitive and social skills that characterize high-performing individuals and teams. NTS are essential in supporting
surgeons in dealing with unexpected situations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, NTS have been considered crucial in
defining situation awareness, enhancing decision making, communicating among groups and teams, and fostering
leadership. With a “looking back and planning forward” approach, the current perspective aims at deepening the
contribution of NTS for surgeons to deal with the unexpected challenges posed by the COVID crisis, surgical emergencies,
the introduction of new technologies in clinical practice, to understand how such skills may help shape the surgical leaders
of the future
Knowledge translation in the healthcare sector. a structured literature review
Knowledge translation can be understood as the ability to translate concepts between different contexts by stakeholders who have different skills, aims, and even feelings in their relation to such concepts. Knowledge translation tools allow for the effective transfer of existing knowledge as well as the emergence of new knowledge of value to some or all of the stakeholders involved in the process. Knowledge translation is particularly challenging in healthcare and medicine, where different practitioners (e.g. physicians, biologists, engineers, researchers) and professionals need methodologies and tools to communicate and share knowledge among them and with patients in an effective manner. To better understand this phenomenon, we conducted a Structured Literature Review (SLR). The concepts knowledge, translation and either healthcare or medicine were used as search terms in the title, abstract or keywords on Scopus, which highlighted more than 2,000 contributions in the medical literature and only 22 in Business and Management. Our review of these documents revealed a need in the healthcare sector for better managerial and organisational practices to cope with the various challenges related to the sharing of knowledge among stakeholders. At the same time, the business and management communities appear to have made significant progress in addressing the same issues. We therefore decided to concentrate our analysis on the works published by the business and management community as a mean to highlight future research directions for the healthcare management sector. Thus, our research identifies areas of relevance which are currently underdeveloped, provides insights on both theoretical and empirical developments and offers a critique of the approaches, research frameworks and methods used, as well as emerging trends in these domains. Despite a lack of an agreed definition of the term Knowledge Translation, our findings highlight a growing interest in the topic, with most of the contributions published after 2015. Scholars have approached the term from a variety of perspectives depending on the nature of the stakeholders of relevance to their studies. Whilst there does not seem to be a predominant framework, the literature reveals several tools and techniques that are effective in enhancing Knowledge Translation in different contexts. New research opportunities in this domain emerge in terms of underinvestigated areas within the healthcare sector
Separation and measurement of Pa, Th, and U isotopes in Marine sediments by microwave-assisted digestion and multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry
This manuscript describes a new protocol for determination of Pa/Th/U in marine sediments. It is based on microwave-assisted digestion and represents an important reduction of working time over conventional hot-plate digestion methods, and the use of HClO(4) is avoided. Although Th and U are completely dissolved with a first microwave step, around 40% of (231)Pa remains undissolved, and a short hot-plate step with reverse aqua regia is required to achieve total digestion and spike equilibration. Next, the method involves a separation of these elements and a further purification of the Pa fraction using Dowex AG1-X8 resin. Separation with Bio-Rad and Sigma-Aldrich resins was compared; although both perform similarly for Th and U, Pa yields are higher with Bio-Rad. Finally, samples are measured using a Nu instruments multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (MC-ICPMS). Overall chemical yields range around 50% for Pa, 60% for Th, and 70% for U
