In this paper we describe the behavior of Weyl type theorems or Weyl type properties, for an operator on a proper closed and -invariant subspace such that , for some , where and is an infinite-dimensional complex Banach space. Our main purpose is to show that for these subspaces (which generalize the case closed, for some ) a large number of Weyl type theorems are transmitted from to its restriction on and vice-versa. As application of our results, we obtain conditions for which Weyl type theorems are equivalent for two given operators. Also, we give conditions under which an operator acting on a subspace can be extended on the entire space preserving the Weyl type properties.
Teenage attitudes towards sexual diversity in Spain
We conducted a study of homophobia among Spanish school students as perceived and
expressed in three different contexts: education, the family and social. A survey on adolescence
and sexual diversity was administered to 128 tenth-grade students in their 4th year of
secondary school in Castellón, Spain. A descriptive approach was taken to survey design and
analysis. Frequencies, percentages and Student’s t-tests were conducted to analyse differences
by gender. Results reveal relatively high levels of homophobic attitudes and the clear need for
intervention at the educational level
"Can Anybody Help Me?” High School Teachers' Experiences on LGBTphobia Perception, Teaching Intervention and Training on Affective and Sexual Diversity
This article analyzes the perceptions of sexual affective diversity among teachers in Spanish high schools. Specifically, we address LGBTphobia, and teacher intervention and training through a survey study of 119 teachers. We administered a questionnaire to investigate these issues based on other studies. The data were analyzed on the basis of descriptive statistics. We attempted to answer three research questions: How do teachers analyze LGBTphobia in high schools? What is their experience and teaching intervention with regard to affective and sexual diversity? What perception exists in high schools about the need for training and education on affective and sexual diversity? The study concludes that high schools and their communities remain hostile places for LGBT students. Therefore, incorporating training into teaching practice and rethinking pedagogy from a queer perspective is fundamental to building an inclusive educational culture
Educación No Formal.
Autonomous participation. An activist ethnography in Maranya Youth Club
In this article there is a discussion about the results of an activist Ethnography carried out in Benicasim (Spain). The study is focused on the culture of youth participation in leisure spaces that contribute significantly to the education of young people as critical citizens. During 3 years of fieldwork as an activist in the Youth Club (YC) we carried out an investigation based on biographical, narrative, participatory and observational tools. Particularly, we try to understand which elements can turn a participatory structure into a tool for a model of participatory progression and offer the possibility of creating personalised participatory trajectories. Our results suggest that structuring participation in a youth club can be beneficial if we care for aspects like commitment, responsibility, availability, leadership and the sense of membership. Adapting these elements to the characteristics of each youth will boost participation to more autonomous levels, thus enabling an empowering and autonomous learning proces
On the 20th anniversary of the passing of Paulo Freire, in this article we highlight a central feature of his pedagogical thinking: his conviction that education can make a contribution to the development of democratic subjects and eventually to the construction of a more just and democratic society. Freire used to say that education does not change the world but it changes people who are going to change the world. Thus, it is possible to argue that education does not democratize society but can nurture more democratic people who are going to build more democratic societies. This relationship between the micro-level (nurturing democratic citizens) and the macro-level (building more democratic societies) can be mediated, at the meso-level, by the democratization of educational institutions and systems. This paper addresses these relationships, and is organized into five sections. The first describes Freire’s theoretical and practical contributions in relation to the democratizing project. The second analyzes the connections between democracy, participation and civic education. The third explores student participation in schools. The fourth examines participatory school budgets, and the last section presents a summary and preliminary conclusions
