The aim of this article is to reconstruct child perspectives on religion and to analyze them in the context of their participation in social practices (such as family transmission, peer and sibling relationships, and practices within the evangelical community´s churches and a catholic school). For my research, I articulate an ethnographic approach using other methods and fieldwork techniques (usually used in anthropology of childhood, as are certain psychological approaches to children´s points of view), that became fundamental strategies for approaching child voices and practices. In doing so, issues of method and epistemology were contemplated, seeking for ways to critically analyze the link between religious and ethnic identifications. By considering the ways children articulate their own perspectives on the social processes they are involved in, I will specially focus on how Toba children constitute the meaning of the Evangelio (Gospel) religious movement over time.Fil: Garcia Palacios, Mariana Ines. An epiperimetric inequality approach to the regularity of the free boundary in the Signorini problem with variable coefficients

In this paper we establish the C1,βC^{1,\beta} regularity of the regular part of the free boundary in the Signorini problem for elliptic operators with variable Lipschitz coefficients. This work is a continuation of the recent paper [GSVG14], where two of us established the interior optimal regularity of the solution. Two of the central results of the present work are a new monotonicity formula and a new epiperimetric inequality.Comment: 40 page

Considering the increasing use of temporary workers in organizations, the present study analyses the influence of leader-member exchanges (LMX) and the fulfillment of obligations inherent to the relational and balanced psychological contract in the engagement of those workers, specifically, using the Social Exchange Theory as support. We tested our hypothesis using a survey collected from employees working in two Portuguese firms. The sample was composed by 133 temporary workers, 55 of them from a company in the food industry and the remaining 78 from a company operating in the ceramic industry. As expected, the results showed that the quality of LMX relationships have a positive relationship with the fulfillment of obligations inherent to the relational (H1a) and balanced (H1b) psychological contract; the fulfillment of obligations based on the relational psychological contract also presents a positive relationship with engagement (H2a) and, as opposed to what we expected, in this case, the fulfillment of obligations stated on the balanced psychological contract doesn’t predict engagement (H2b). The relation between the quality of LMX relationships and the engagement is partially mediated by the fulfillment of obligations inherent to the relational psychological contract (H3a). Concerning our last hypothesis (H3b), it was not supported by the results, meaning that the relationship between LMX and engagement is not mediated by the fulfillment of obligations related to the balanced psychological contract. In a final section, the obtained results are discussed and their possible implications on the human resource practices for temporary workers are presented. At last, there will also be suggested some new paths for future investigations

Introduction - International guidelines recommend dopamine agonists as first-line treatment strategy for prolactinomas. Dopaminergic agonists allow the normalization of prolactin levels and the reduction of the tumor dimension. Despite its high efficacy, some prolactinomas are resistant to this therapy. Therefore, this retrospective study aims to identify differences between resistant and responder prolactinomas, to better identify them in clinical practice. Methods - Clinical, laboratory, and imaging characteristics of a cohort of 122 prolactinomas, followed at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João, were analyzed. Resistance was defined as the use of cabergoline in doses superior to 3 mg/week without lowering prolactin levels or tumor size. Results are presented as mean ± standard deviation and compared as appropriated, namely using a univariate and multivariate analysis. Results - We considered 114 patients as responders (23.7% male; age 21.5 ± 11.0 years; mean prolactin levels 147.0 ng/mL; 2.8% without visible lesion, 52.8% micro and 44.4% macroprolactinomas; suprasellar extension in 28.2%; infrasellar extension in 28.0% and parasellar extension in 30.1%) and 8 resistant (62.5% male; age 16.8 ± 12.9 years; mean prolactin levels 2430.0 ng/mL; all of them were macroprolactinomas and 87.5% presented extension in at least one of the 3 considered dimensions). Responders used medium doses of 6.6 ± 6.3 mg/day of bromocriptine and 1.1 ± 0.6 mg/week of cabergoline, while resistants used 16.3 ± 11.1 mg/day of bromocriptine and 5.4 ± 4.3 mg/week of cabergoline. One resistant patient was treated with temozolomide. All resistant had hypogonadism and presented more pituitary hypofunctions than responders. Conclusion - Male sex, higher prolactin levels, hypopituitarism and suprasellar extension are predictors of prolactinomas resistance to dopaminergic agents

Genes of different catabolic pathways are coordinately regulated by Dal81 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Yeast can use a wide variety of nitrogen compounds. However, the ability to synthesize enzymes and permeases for catabolism of poor nitrogen sources is limited in the presence of a rich one. This general mechanism of transcriptional control is called nitrogen catabolite repression. Poor nitrogen sources, such as leucine, γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and allantoin, enable growth after the synthesis of pathway-specific catabolic enzymes and permeases. This synthesis occurs only under conditions of nitrogen limitation and in the presence of a pathway-specific signal. In this work we studied the temporal order in the induction of AGP1, BAP2, UGA4, and DAL7, genes that are involved in the catabolism and use of leucine, GABA, and allantoin, three poor nitrogen sources. We found that when these amino acids are available, cells will express AGP1 and BAP2 in the first place, then DAL7, and at last UGA4. Dal81, a general positive regulator of genes involved in nitrogen utilization related to the metabolisms of GABA, leucine, and allantoin, plays a central role in this coordinated regulation.Fil: Palavecino Ruiz, Marcos Daniel.
