Mapes publicitaris de ciutats industrials: la iniciativa de Calvet i Boix (1879-1890)

Un editor particular de Barcelona, Joan Calvet i Boix, publicà entre 1879 i 1890 més d'una trentena de mapes de ciutats espanyoles envoltats d'anuncis de negocis locals que patrocinaven l'edició. Els mapes urbans publicats per Calvet transmetien una imatge de modernitat d'aquestes ciutats i esdevingueren un símbol de la seva transformació econòmica i social. Aquest projecte constitueix una de les iniciatives de publicació de cartografia urbana més rellevants d'Espanya, a la segona meitat del segle xix.A private editor from Barcelona, Joan Calvet i Boix, published between 1879 and 1890 more than 30 maps of Spanish cities surrounded by advertisements of featured local business, those sponsoring the edition. The urban advertising maps published by Calvet transmitted an image of modernity of these cities and became a symbol of its economic and social transformation. Stable propagation of pulsed beams in Kerr focusing media with modulated dispersion

We propose the modulation of dispersion to prevent collapse of planar pulsed beams which propagate in Kerr-type self-focusing optical media. As a result, we find a new type of two-dimensional spatio-temporal solitons stabilized by dispersion management. We have studied the existence and properties of these solitary waves both analytically and numerically. We show that the adequate choice of the modulation parameters optimizes the stabilization of the pulse.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Optics Letter

Dades inèdites sobre els mixomicets de Catalunya

Dades inèdites sobre els mixomicets de Catalunya. Darrers resultats de l'estudi dels mixomicets trobats des de 1994 (Projecte "Biodiversitat Micològica de Catalunya") en diferents hàbitats dispersos per Catalunya, des del litoral fins als Pirineus (més de 2000 m alt.). Algunes espècies semblen mostrar una certa preferència pels estepars (Cistion), un hàbitat molt prospectat durant la realització de l'estudi: Didymium melanospermum, Didymium squamulosum, Leocarpus fragilis, Badhamia foliicola , Diderma spumarioides, Didymium eximium and Physarum cinereum. Algunes espècies són noves o poc citades a Catalunya (vegeu la tria al resum en anglès).Inedit data on the Myxomycetes biota of Catalonia. Last results of a mycota survey ("Biodiversitat Micològica de Catalunya" project) of different habitats scattered in Catalonia, from the litoral to the Pyrenean range (2000 m alt. and more), devoted to the Myxomycetes. Some species seem to show a preference for the rockrose bushes (Cistus communities), an habitat intensively searched during the survey namely: Didymium melanospermum, Didymium squamulosum, Leocarpus fragilis, Badhamia foliicola , Diderma spumarioides, Didymium eximium and Physarum cinereum. Some species are new or rarely found in Catalonia: Arcyria affinis, Badhamia dubia , B. utricularis, Comatricha anomala, C. tenerrima, Craterium obovatum, Diderma asteroides, D. fallax, D. niveum, Didymium clavus, D. dubium, D. eximium, D. megalosporum, D. minus, D. pertusum, Fuligo intermedia, Lamproderma maculatum, Lepidoderma carestianum, Physarum bitectum, P. confertum, P. conglomeratum, P. leucophaeum , P. leucopus, P. mutabile, P. robustum, P. vernum, Stemonitopsis typhina and Trichia persimilis
