The Eco-social transition is the transformation of societies towards ways of life in harmony with nature, especially within the context of the current ecosystem crisis. The dynamics and media routines related to the configuration of the agenda setting are fundamental to this process, supported by the theories of framing and priming. In this sense, the media might become an inspiring reference for society or, on the contrary, simply act as a parapet, as we indeed assume in this article. This study analyses the presence of eco-social transition themes in the programming and main news programmes of the general television channels with state coverage in Spain: TVE1, La2, Antena3, Cuatro, Telecinco and LaSexta. The methodological design is based, on the one hand, on the quantitative analysis of the programming schedules for four weeks. On the other hand, the news programmes of the aforementioned channels were analysed, quantifying those pieces of news related to topics that might favour the eco-social transition, either by focusing on ecosystem problems or by presenting circular economy alternatives, among other mechanisms. The results show that only the public channels broadcast ecological programmes, and nowhere does this programming exceed 2% of the total of their programming. In relation to the presence of these topics in the news with national coverage, it does not attain 4% of its content. This minimal incidence indicates that much remains to be done. The Version of Record is available online at: https://doi.org/10.1007/s10803-020-04488-2This study analyzes the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test-Learning Potential (WCST-LP) in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) versus children with typical development (TD). Its main aim was to assess: the test’s construct validity; the effect of IQ on its pretest and LP scores; and whether the WCST-LP held any relationship to cognitive/EF and social abili- ties. Participants were 105 children (43 with ASD/62 with TD). Results showed evidence of construct validity in an ASD population (improvements from pretest to posttest), that full IQ influenced pretest performance but did not affect LP, and that a relationship between LP and verbal and social abilities existed only in children with ASD. Conclusions indicate the appropriateness of the WCST-LP in ASD prognosis assessment. The research reported in this paper is funded by the Junta de Andalucía (HUM-129 & HUM-820), and the Research project (Excel- lence call, 2012) [P12-SEJ-560

2017 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 11 a 15 de septiembre de 2017, Verona (Italia)This work focuses in achieving the angular stabilization of a square loop-based AMC from a novel approach: by exploring the possibilities of introducing lumped inductors. The study is conducted considering the typical constraints an actual designer has to cope with (concerning limited size and dielectric thickness and properties). As a result, a stable AMC in the 5.8GHz band is obtained, meeting the design requirements. Due to its effectiveness, the novel developed methodology can be directly extended to enhance the angular stability of any loop-based AMC, wide spreading their application

    Get PDF
Social exclusion is one of the biggest challenges of modern societies especially for one of the most affected populations: children. Growing up in disadvantaged environments has a negative impact on health, education or cognitive, emotional and social development. One area particularly affected in these children is social competence - the subject’s ability to deal with problematic social situations successfully. This work focuses on interpersonal problem-solving skills, which are deemed as being quintessential components of social competence. This paper sought to determine whether the implementation of a training program for solving interpersonal problems improves these skills in children in situation of social exclusion, through a quasi-experimental pre-post-treatment design. Participants were 61 children aged 7-12, of which 34 were situation of exclusion. The results show improvements in the ability to generate solutions to conflicts and in interpersonal problem-solving skills. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the program generates improvements in the skills trained in children in situation of exclusion. Nevertheless, it is necessary to conduct further research on the impact of brief interventions in this population.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, a través del Proyecto I+D Ref 2011- 24370Junta de Andalucía a través del Proyecto de Excelencia convocatoria de 2012, Ref. La Familia Telerín: Connected Learning through Transmedia

    Get PDF
Nowadays, transmedia storytelling has shaped new ways to produce children’s content, in which the audience has an increasingly active role (Livingstone and Bovill 2013; Cortesi et al. 2015). The fruition of storytelling content through digital media allows to connect it with personal interests and school activitiesas well as to enhance the link between adults and children (Ito et al. 2013; Jenkins, Īto, and boyd 2015). The main goal of this paper is to analyze the new transmedia release of one the most successful and recognized TV cartoons all over Spain and Latin America: La Familia Telerín. Specifically, we want to discover how the cartoon was re-valued by the production company Anima Kitchen, and understand the role that transmedia storytelling played out in this regard. Adopting a digital anthropology approach (Horst and Miller 2012), our findings come from big data, a focus group and through a virtual ethnography. The findings provide us with a clear understanding about how transmedia storytelling supports social values, media skills and learning activities into the everyday life of children

The research was made to characterize the occupational behavior of people who migrate beca use of violence. It is a cualitative social study that examines the occupational characteristics and occupational changes of a group of 40 home heads, men and women, in the "Divino Niño" neighborhood, in Ciudad Bolívar, in Santafé de Bogotá, where they migrate because war worsened. The research was focused in home heads beca use they  have and keep the provider role, and, because of their occupational executions, they understand better the occupational changes after the experience of migration; nevertheless, their families took part in several activities, in order to promove the familiar and social integration and establishing communication channels between the community and the professionals, in a feedback process. The aspects of the migration induced by violence, the national and international politics in such matter, and the participation of the occupational therapist, are explained. According to the theoretical model of human occupation (Gary Kielhofner), a detailed analysis about its components, the influence of the migration induced by violence in the occupationl well-beíng of the victims, and the acquisition of new roles were carried out as well as the transformation of lifestyles in their daily lifes. It was observed that the occupational processes of working and free time underwent important changes based upon the experience of migration induced by violence, and its consequences gave rise less life prospects for the future. Sorne suggestions are presented to increase the study of social topics related with the national reality where the occupational therapist must participate actively

A Novel Halophilic Lipase, LipBL, Showing High Efficiency in the Production of Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)

    Get PDF
Background: Among extremophiles, halophiles are defined as microorganisms adapted to live and thrive in diverse extreme saline environments. These extremophilic microorganisms constitute the source of a number of hydrolases with great biotechnological applications. The interest to use extremozymes from halophiles in industrial applications is their resistance to organic solvents and extreme temperatures. Marinobacter lipolyticus SM19 is a moderately halophilic bacterium, isolated previously from a saline habitat in South Spain, showing lipolytic activity. Methods and Findings: A lipolytic enzyme from the halophilic bacterium Marinobacter lipolyticus SM19 was isolated. This enzyme, designated LipBL, was expressed in Escherichia coli. LipBL is a protein of 404 amino acids with a molecular mass of 45.3 kDa and high identity to class C b-lactamases. LipBL was purified and biochemically characterized. The temperature for its maximal activity was 80uC and the pH optimum determined at 25uC was 7.0, showing optimal activity without sodium chloride, while maintaining 20% activity in a wide range of NaCl concentrations. This enzyme exhibited high activity against short-medium length acyl chain substrates, although it also hydrolyzes olive oil and fish oil. The fish oil hydrolysis using LipBL results in an enrichment of free eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), but not docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), relative to its levels present in fish oil. For improving the stability and to be used in industrial processes LipBL was immobilized in different supports. The immobilized derivatives CNBr-activated Sepharose were highly selective towards the release of EPA versus DHA. The enzyme is also active towards different chiral and prochiral esters. Exposure of LipBL to buffer-solvent mixtures showed that the enzyme had remarkable activity and stability in all organic solvents tested. Conclusions: In this study we isolated, purified, biochemically characterized and immobilized a lipolytic enzyme from a halophilic bacterium M. lipolyticus, which constitutes an enzyme with excellent properties to be used in the food industry, in the enrichment in omega-3 PUFAs

    Get PDF
MEGARA is an optical integral field and multi-object fibre-based spectrograph for the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio CANARIAS that offers medium-to-high spectral resolutions (FWHM) of R ≃ 6000, 12 000, 20 000. Commissioned at the telescope in 2017, it started operation as a common-user instrument in 2018. We are creating an instrument-oriented empirical spectral library from MEGARA-GTC stars observations, MEGASTAR, crucial for the correct interpretation of MEGARA data. This piece of work describes the content of the first release of MEGASTAR, formed by the spectra of 414 stars observed with R ≃ 20 000 in the spectral intervals 6420–6790 Å and 8370–8885 Å, and obtained with a continuum average signal-to-noise ratio around 260. We describe the release sample, the observations, the data reduction procedure and the MEGASTAR data base. Additionally, we include in Appendix A an atlas with the complete set of 838 spectra of this first release of the MEGASTAR catalogue. This work has been supported by MINECO-FEDER grants AYA2016-75808-R, AYA2016-79724-C4-3-P, RTI2018-096188-BI00, AYA2017-90589-REDT and has been partially funded by FRACTAL, INAOE, and CIEMAT
