This study is intended to describe and evaluate the implementation of high school in selected schools for the 2016-2018 academic years. Specifically, it found answers on the description of the schools; the evaluation of the pedagogical competencies of the teachers; the evaluation of the work habits, values, and skills of the students; the problems encountered, and the possible contributions to improve the program. A specifically convergent mixed method was used in parallel. The results show that the selected schools offer TVL, HUMSS, and ABM. They have an average of two hundred students or less. Most of their faculty members are with MA units. They observed the Department of Education's policies on admission, retention, and promotion. The dimensions of teaching competencies are considered effective to highly effective, while students' work habits, values, and skills are assessed as highly developed. Problems identified related to the adequacy of teaching materials, lack of stakeholder support, student performance, and the need for specialized teachers. Therefore, it is recommended to improve school facilities, hire teachers for specialized teachers, strengthen partnerships with the business industry, and train teachers in the latest teaching trends, as well as in technology, to make students globally competitive

We formulate the Landau problem in the context of the noncommutative analog of a surface of constant negative curvature, that is AdS2AdS_2 surface, and obtain the spectrum and contrast the same with the Landau levels one finds in the case of the commutative AdS2AdS_2 space.Comment: 19 pages, Latex, references and clarifications added including 2 figure

Aharonov-Casher effect for spin one particles in a noncommutative space

    Get PDF
In this work the Aharonov-Casher (AC) phase is calculated for spin one particles in a noncommutative space. The AC phase has previously been calculated from the Dirac equation in a noncommutative space using a gauge-like technique [17]. In the spin-one, we use kemmer equation to calculate the phase in a similar manner. It is shown that the holonomy receives non-trivial kinematical corrections. By comparing the new result with the already known spin 1/2 case, one may conjecture a generalized formula for the corrections to holonomy for higher spins.Comment: 9 page

Budesonide Reverses Lung Hyperinflation in Childhood Asthma: a Controlled Study

    Get PDF
Budesonide (800 mg bid, for 2 months) was administered to 12 asthmatic children (mean age, 11.293.3 years) with lung hyperinflation (TGV]130% predicted and:or RV]140% predicted) in a randomised, placebo controlled, double blind, crossover study. Body plethysmography (panting frequency controlled at 1·s 1) was performed at the beginning, 2 months afterwards (before crossover) and at the end of the study. Budesonide significantly reduced TGV (2.3590.90 l BTPS or 126924% predicted) compared with placebo (2.5491.08 l BTPS, P 0.014 or 140921% predicted, PB0.05). In addition, budesonide significantly increased mean specific conductance (0.0690.02 cm H2O 1 l s 1 to 0.0790.01 cm H2O 1 l s 1, PB0.05). It was concluded that budesonide reduced lung hyperinflation most likely by decreasing airway inflammation

Underpotential deposition of Cu on Au(111) in sulfate-containing electrolytes: a theoretical and experimental study

We study the underpotential deposition of Cu on single-crystal Au(111) electrodes in sulfate-containing electrolytes by a combination of computational statistical-mechanics based lattice-gas modeling and experiments. The experimental methods are in situ cyclic voltammetry and coulometry and ex situ Auger electron spectroscopy and low-energy electron diffraction. The experimentally obtained voltammetric current and charge densities and adsorbate coverages are compared with the predictions of a two-component lattice-gas model for the coadsorption of Cu and sulfate. This model includes effective, lateral interactions out to fourth-nearest neighbors. Using group-theoretical ground-state calculations and Monte Carlo simulations, we estimate effective electrovalences and lateral adsorbate--adsorbate interactions so as to obtain overall agreement with experiments, including both our own and those of other groups. In agreement with earlier work, we find a mixed R3xR3 phase consisting of 2/3 monolayer Cu and 1/3 monolayer sulfate at intermediate electrode potentials, delimited by phase transitions at both higher and lower potentials. Our approach provides estimates of the effective electrovalences and lateral interaction energies, which cannot yet be calculated by first-principles methods.Comment: 36 pages, 14 Postscript figures are in uufiles for

Survey for ‘Candidatus Liberibacter’ and ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma’ in Citrus in Chile

    Get PDF
The considerable economic losses in citrus associated with ‘Candidatus Liberibacter’ and ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma’ presence have alerted all producing regions of the world. In Chile, none of these bacteria have been reported in citrus species. During the years 2017 and 2019, 258 samples presenting symptoms similar to those associated with the presence of these bacteria were examined. No detection of ‘Ca. Liberibacter’ associated with “huanglongbing” disease was obtained in the tested samples; therefore, this quarantine pest is maintained as absent in Chile. However, 14 plants resulted positive for phytoplasmas enclosed in subgroups 16SrV-A (12 plants) and 16SrXIII-F (2 plants). Although they have been found in other plant species, this is the first report of these phy-toplasmas in citrus worldwide

Integrating energy and land-use planning : Socio-metabolic profiles along the rural-urban continuum in Catalonia (Spain)

Abandoning fossil fuels and increasingly relying on low-density, land-intensive renewable energy will increase demand for land, affecting current global and regional rural-urban relationships. Over the past two decades, rural-urban relationships all over the world have witnessed unprecedented changes that have rendered their boundaries blurred and have lead to the emergence of "new ruralities." In this paper, we analyze the current profiles of electricity generation and consumption in relation to sociodemographic variables related to the use of time and land across the territory of Catalonia, Spain. Through a clustering procedure based on multivariate statistical analysis, we found that electricity consumption is related to functional specialization in the roles undertaken by different types of municipalities in the urban system. Municipality types have distinctive metabolic profiles in different sectors depending on their industrial, services or residential role. Villages' metabolism is influenced by urban sprawl and industrial specialization, reflecting current "new ruralities." Segregation between work activity and residence increases both overall electricity consumption and its rate (per hour) and density (per hectare) of dissipation. A sustainable spatial organization of societal activities without the use of fossil fuels or nuclear energy would require huge structural and sociodemographic changes to reduce energy demand and adapt it to regionally available renewable energy. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht

Maximally localized states and causality in non commutative quantum theories

    Get PDF
We give simple representations for quantum theories in which the position commutators are non vanishing constants. A particular representation reproduces results found using the Moyal star product. The notion of exact localization being meaningless in these theories, we adapt the notion of ``maximally localized states'' developed in another context . We find that gaussian functions play this role in a 2+1 dimensional model in which the non commutation relations concern positions only. An interpretation of the wave function in this non commutative geometry is suggested. We also analyze higher dimensional cases. A possible incidence on the causality issue for a Q.F.T with a non commuting time is sketched.Comment: 11 pages, Revtex.
