Improving Competition in the Non-Tradable Goods and Labour Markets: The Portuguese Case

This study assesses the macroeconomic impacts of increasing competition in the non-tradable goods and labour markets in Portugal. We lean on evidence that the maintenance of low competition in these markets may have contributed to the recent poor performance of the Portuguese economy. The analysis is performed using PESSOA, a dynamic general equilibrium model for a small-open economy integrated in a monetary union, featuring Blanchard-Yaari households, a multi-sectoral production structure and a number of nominal and real rigidities. We conclude that measures aimed at increasing competition in the Portuguese non-tradable goods and labour markets could induce important international competitiveness gains and be valuable instruments in promoting necessary adjustments within the monetary union frame-work. However, in the short run, real interest rates are likely to increase temporarily, driving consumption and output temporarily downwards.

Taming Uncertainty in the Assurance Process of Self-Adaptive Systems: a Goal-Oriented Approach

Goals are first-class entities in a self-adaptive system (SAS) as they guide the self-adaptation. A SAS often operates in dynamic and partially unknown environments, which cause uncertainty that the SAS has to address to achieve its goals. Moreover, besides the environment, other classes of uncertainty have been identified. However, these various classes and their sources are not systematically addressed by current approaches throughout the life cycle of the SAS. In general, uncertainty typically makes the assurance provision of SAS goals exclusively at design time not viable. This calls for an assurance process that spans the whole life cycle of the SAS. In this work, we propose a goal-oriented assurance process that supports taming different sources (within different classes) of uncertainty from defining the goals at design time to performing self-adaptation at runtime. Based on a goal model augmented with uncertainty annotations, we automatically generate parametric symbolic formulae with parameterized uncertainties at design time using symbolic model checking. These formulae and the goal model guide the synthesis of adaptation policies by engineers. At runtime, the generated formulae are evaluated to resolve the uncertainty and to steer the self-adaptation using the policies. In this paper, we focus on reliability and cost properties, for which we evaluate our approach on the Body Sensor Network (BSN) implemented in OpenDaVINCI. The results of the validation are promising and show that our approach is able to systematically tame multiple classes of uncertainty, and that it is effective and efficient in providing assurances for the goals of self-adaptive systems

A GESTÃO DO CURSO DE GRADUAÇÃO EM CIÊNCIAS CONTÁBEIS DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE SANTA CATARINA

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo identificar e analisar de que forma ocorre a gestão do curso de graduação em Ciências Contábeis da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Por meio de um estudo de caso, feito a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, com abordagem qualitativa e orientação descritiva, são expostos breves históricos sobre o surgimento das universidades, o ensino superior no Brasil, até chegarmos ao curso de graduação em Ciências Contábeis da UFSC. Os resultados de pesquisa indicam a existência de uma forma complexa de administração e gestão dos cursos de graduação da UFSC, aliada ao complexo sistema social em que as organizações universitárias estão inseridas. Ponderou-se que a complexidade desta estrutura promove muitas vezes embargos para que as atividades acadêmicas e administrativas de um curso de graduação possam ser atingidas de uma forma totalitária e exitosa

A reflexão sobre uma certa prática ainda imaginária: professores que ensinam matemática em formação inicial e suas concepções do que é ensinar

Neste trabalho relato uma experiência com blogs educacionais, individuais e fechados, utilizados por professores que ensinam matemática em formação inicial na Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro/UERJ. Os estudantes postam semanalmente suas observações em torno das aulas ministradas por mim nas disciplinas Estágio Supervisionado em Matemática I e III, e também das aulas, inclusive minhas, que observam no Instituto de Aplicação da UERJ. Neste Instituto, os futuros professores podem assistir aulas para crianças de 11 aos 17 anos. Nos blogs o estudante é constantemente confrontado em seu discurso: sem tomar uma posição, provoco-o a aprofundar a sua reflexão sobre o que escreveu. É nesse embate teoria-prática, nessa dicotomia que eles pensam existir, que pretendemos nos debruçar. Quero com isto desconstruir discursos prontos e (co)construir falas mais reais, de acordo com as escutas feitas durante as observações das aulas. Promovendo assim uma prática de ensino reflexiva sobre algo que ainda não foi devidamente “praticado”: a aula do futuro professor que ainda está só no campo das ideias. Como D´Ambrosio (2012) defende, devemos ouvir o futuro professor e com ele construir novas práticas que façam sentido dentro de suas vivências para que o trabalho nas Licenciaturas revolucione a educação brasileira

A pesquisa narrativa autobiográfica de uma professora de matemática: aproximações com a insubordinação criativa

Este trabalho é um recorte de minha tese de doutorado. Na pesquisa, busco compreender as minhas práticas docentes, resgatando inúmeros relatos de vida e entrelaçando-os em uma história de vida de uma professora de matemática. Durante a jornada autobiográfica me deparei com auto-insubordinações criativas, contradições vivas e contra-memórias misturados em múltiplos eus-professores que se afirmavam construtivistas. Trago a arquitetura da narrativa, na qual a aprendizagem é seu fio condutor. Esta é uma jornada de empodeiramento e formação que me levou a uma reflexão mais profunda sobre a minha identidade docente.
