Bio-based sustainable aerogels: New sensation in CO2 capture
Bio-based aerogels with customizable porosities and functionalities constitute significant
potential for CO2 capture. Developing bio-based aerogels from different polysaccharides and proteins is a safe, economical, and environmentally sustainable approach. Polysaccharides are biodegradable, sustainable, renewable, and plentiful in nature. Because of these advantages, the use of bio-based aerogels with porosity and amine functionality has attracted considerable interest. In this review we have discussed the recent development in the synthesis of bio-based aerogels and their application in CO2 capture
A Mechanism for Ferrimagnetism and Incommensurability in One-Dimensional Systems
A mechanism for ferrimagnetism in
(1+1)-dimensions is discussed. The ferrimagnetism is cased by interactions
described by operators with non-zero conformal spin. Such interactions appear
in such problems as the problem of tunneling between Luttinger liquids and the
problem of frustrated spin ladder. I present exact solutions for a
representative class of models containing such interactions together with a
simple mean field analysis. It is shown that the interactions (i) dynamically
generate static oscillations with a wave vector dependent on the coupling
constant, (ii) give rise to a finite magnetic moment at accompanied by
the soft mode with a non-relativistic ({\it ferromagnetic}) dispersion , (iii) generate massive (roton) modes.Comment: replaced by the extended version, references adde
Comprehensive Survey on the Techniques used in Weighing and Recording Systems
Today farmers are facing more problems about fruit’s weight measuring and recording at the time of their final cost calculation while selling to the agents. Now a day, weighing issues are the most important in concern with the issues of farmers everywhere in the agriculture field, so weighing of everything from farm gains higher and higher importance in recent years. Here in this paper, trying to introduce the comprehensive literature study related to the various measuring systems that are necessary in the fields such as agriculture, industries and market. Weighing and measuring where possibilities of incursion are increasing day by day. In past days, the research is gone on various weighing and measuring systems, which provided the solution to manual methods. Due to the advancement in recent techniques, some weighing systems are based on microcontroller, ARM11, dynamic, fuzzy-logic, force-sensing, image-processing, filter, online, sensor network, and LVDT based etc. Every system has its own advantages and disadvantages. In most of systems, strain gauge technique is used for weighing so the system will become cost effective, more reliable and it will take less time to stores the many reading for continuous measuring process. The weight measuring systems today needs to make use of the latest technology. In some papers, the authors have presented weighing systems based on embedded and PLC and sometimes the load sensors is connected by online and sensor network. Hence, it could not easily hack the data of weighing records by hackers. A lot of modification takes places in various weighing and recording systems from the last few years, in next coming years many changes will takes place
Exchange bias effect and intragranular magnetoresistance in Nd$_{0.84}Sr_{0.16}CoO_3
Electrical transport properties as a function of magnetic field and time have
been investigated in polycrystalline, Nd_{0.84}Sr_{0.16}CoO_3. A strong
exchange bias (EB) effect is observed associated with the fairly large
intragranular magnetoresistance (MR). The EB effect observed in the MR curve is
compared with the EB effect manifested in magnetic hysteresis loop. Training
effect, described as the decrease of EB effect when the sample is successively
field-cycled at a particular temperature, has been observed in the shift of the
MR curve. Training effect could be analysed by the successful models. The EB
effect, MR and a considerable time dependence in MR are attributed to the
intrinsic nanostructure giving rise to the varieties of magnetic interfaces in
the grain interior
Vortex matching effect in engineered thin films of NbN
We report robust vortex matching effects in antidot arrays fabricated on thin
films of NbN. The near absence of hysteresis between field sweep directions
indicates a negligible residual pinning in the host thin film. Owing to the
very small coherence length of NbN thin films (), the observations
suggests the possibility of probing physics of vortices at true nanometer
length scales in suitably fabricated structures.Comment: Submitted to Appl. Phys. Let
Role of Diatoms in Diagnosis of Death Due to Drowning: Case Studies
Background: The most frequent use of diatoms in forensic science is the diagnosis of death due to drowning. The basic principle of diatom test in drowning is based on the inference that diatoms are present in medium where drowning took place and the inhaled water enters the alveolar spaces of lungs and penetrates from the alveoli into the blood circulation, thus microscopic unicellular algae called diatoms get transported to different organs of body. The diatoms found inside the body of drowned victim may serve as corroborative or even conclusive evidence to support the diagnosis of death. It can be ascertained whether the drowning is ante-mortem or post-mortem.Case Report: The present study was conducted in Biology and Serology Division of State Forensic Science Laboratory, Shimla Hills Junga, Himachal Pradesh, India. Water sample from putative site of drowning as well as hard bones (sternum, clavicle, femur), soft tissue (spleen, liver, kidney) and peritoneal/pleural cavity fluid after post-mortem examination of dead body was sent to the Laboratory for the detection of diatoms. Cases were opened and processed following standard methodology. In the present study, 17 cases of drowning were examined for detection of diatoms. Out of seventeen cases, there were 15 males and 2 females aged between 11-63 years. 12 cases revealed the presence of diatoms (death due to drowning) while 5 were found to be negative (death other than drowning). Conclusion: The present study revealed the importance of diatom test in forensic investigation and diagnosis of death due to drowning. Diatom test proved very significant application in forensic science in solving the drowning cases
Evolution of magnetic phases and orbital occupation in (SrMnO3)n/(LaMnO3)2n superlattices
The magnetic and electronic modifications induced at the interfaces in
(SrMnO)/(LaMnO) superlattices have been investigated
by linear and circular magnetic dichroism in the Mn L x-ray absorption
spectra. Together with theoretical calculations, our data demonstrate that the
charge redistribution across interfaces favors in-plane ferromagnetic (FM)
order and orbital occupation, in agreement with the
average strain. Far from interfaces, inside LaMnO, electron localization
and local strain favor antiferromagnetism (AFM) and
orbital occupation. For the high density of interfacial planes ultimately
leads to dominant FM order forcing the residual AFM phase to be in-plane too,
while for the FM layers are separated by AFM regions having
out-of-plane spin orientation.Comment: accepted for publication as a Rapid Communication in Physical Review

Critical points in the Bragg glass phase of a weakly pinned crystal of CaRhSn
New experimental data are presented on the scan rate dependence of the
magnetization hysteresis width ( critical current
density ) in isothermal scans in a weakly pinned single crystal
of CaRhSn, which displays second magnetization peak (SMP)
anomaly as distinct from the peak effect (PE). We observe an interesting
modulation in the field dependence of a parameter which purports to measure the
dynamical annealing of the disordered bundles of vortices injected through the
sample edges towards the destined equilibrium vortex state at a given .
These data, in conjunction with the earlier observations made while studying
the thermomagnetic history dependence in in the tracing of the minor
hysteresis loops, imply that the partially disordered state heals towards the
more ordered state between the peak field of the SMP anomaly and the onset
field of the PE. The vortex phase diagram in the given crystal of
CaRhSn has been updated in the context of the notion of the
phase coexistence of the ordered and disordered regions between the onset field
of the SMP anomaly and the spinodal line located just prior to the
irreversibility line. A multi-critical point and a critical point in the
() region of the Bragg glass phase have been marked in this phase diagram
and the observed behaviour is discussed in the light of recent data on
multi-critical point in the vortex phase diagram in a single crystal of Nb.Comment: To appear in Current trends in Vortex State Studies - Pramana J.
