    AbstractThis study aims to see the effect of video media on improving the basic technique of mae-geri kicks in INKAI karateka in Pemangkat District. This research uses experimental research methods. The population in this study were karateka who practiced in the INKAI training for general branches of Pemangkat District which added 42 people. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique, namely karateka aged 11-13 years in 24 people. Data analysis was performed by t-test analysis. The results of data analysis, the value of ttest = 10.26 is greater than the value of ttable = 2.06866, meaning that it is accepted, it means that there is a significant effect of video media on the basic technique of mae-geri kick. This is based on the results of the test after being given treatment, where the mean posttest 24.25 is greater than the pretest mean 18.04, this means that the learning outcomes of the basic techniques of mae-geri kick on the INKAI karateka who complain at Pemangkat District have increased. Therefore, the use of video media shown before practice can be applied to improve the basic technique of mae-geri kicks.Keywords: Karateka, Mae-geri Kick, Video Medi

    On-Line Monitoring for Temporal Logic Robustness

    In this paper, we provide a Dynamic Programming algorithm for on-line monitoring of the state robustness of Metric Temporal Logic specifications with past time operators. We compute the robustness of MTL with unbounded past and bounded future temporal operators MTL over sampled traces of Cyber-Physical Systems. We implemented our tool in Matlab as a Simulink block that can be used in any Simulink model. We experimentally demonstrate that the overhead of the MTL robustness monitoring is acceptable for certain classes of practical specifications

    Electrical Transport, Magnetism, and Spin-state Configurations of High-Pressure Phases of FeS

    Both the nature of the electrical transport and magnetism of high-pressure phases of FeS have been elucidated in relation to the spin-state configuration of Fe. This has been achieved by combined 57FeMössbauer spectroscopy and resistance measurements on samples pressurized in miniature gem-anvil pressure cells to ∼12 GPa in the range 300–5 K. Hexagonal FeS in the range 3–7 GPa exhibits magnetic nonmetallic behavior, whereas monoclinic FeS beyond ∼7 GPa is diamagnetic and nonmetallic. This is compelling experimental evidence to show that, along the room-temperature isotherm, hexagonal FeS has thermally activated charge carriers and a high-spin magnetic-electronic configuration, whereas monoclinic FeS adopts a magnetically quenched low-spin state and concomitant filled valence band

    Equivariant cohomology over Lie groupoids and Lie-Rinehart algebras

    Using the language and terminology of relative homological algebra, in particular that of derived functors, we introduce equivariant cohomology over a general Lie-Rinehart algebra and equivariant de Rham cohomology over a locally trivial Lie groupoid in terms of suitably defined monads (also known as triples) and the associated standard constructions. This extends a characterization of equivariant de Rham cohomology in terms of derived functors developed earlier for the special case where the Lie groupoid is an ordinary Lie group, viewed as a Lie groupoid with a single object; in that theory over a Lie group, the ordinary Bott-Dupont-Shulman-Stasheff complex arises as an a posteriori object. We prove that, given a locally trivial Lie groupoid G and a smooth G-manifold f over the space B of objects of G, the resulting G-equivariant de Rham theory of f boils down to the ordinary equivariant de Rham theory of a vertex manifold relative to the corresponding vertex group, for any vertex in the space B of objects of G; this implies that the equivariant de Rham cohomology introduced here coincides with the stack de Rham cohomology of the associated transformation groupoid whence this stack de Rham cohomology can be characterized as a relative derived functor. We introduce a notion of cone on a Lie-Rinehart algebra and in particular that of cone on a Lie algebroid.     Evaluating Charge Equilibration Methods To Generate Electrostatic Fields in Nanoporous Materials

    Charge equilibration (Qeq) methods can estimate the electrostatic potential of molecules and periodic frameworks by assigning point charges to each atom, using only a small fraction of the resources needed to compute density functional (DFT)-derived charges. This makes possible, for example, the computational screening of thousands of microporous structures to assess their performance for the adsorption of polar molecules. Recently, different variants of the original Qeq scheme were proposed to improve the quality of the computed point charges. One focus of this research was to improve the gas adsorption predictions in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), for which many different structures are available. In this work, we review the evolution of the method from the original Qeq scheme, understanding the role of the different modifications on the final output. We evaluated the result of combining different protocols and set of parameters, by comparing the Qeq charges with high quality DFT-derived DDEC charges for 2338 MOF structures. We focused on the systematic errors that are attributable to specific atom types to quantify the final precision that one can expect from Qeq methods in the context of gas adsorption where the electrostatic potential plays a significant role, namely, CO2 and H2S adsorption. In conclusion, both the type of algorithm and the input parameters have a large impact on the resulting charges, and we draw some guidelines to help the user to choose the proper combination of the two for obtaining a meaningful set of charges. We show that, considering this set of MOFs, the accuracy of the original Qeq scheme is often still comparable with the most recent variants, even if it clearly fails in the presence of certain atom types, such as alkali metals

    Short-term and medium-term clinical outcomes of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children:a prospective observational cohort study

    BACKGROUND: Even though the incidence of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in children (MIS-C) is decreasing cases are still reported across the world. Studying the consequences of MIS-C enhances our understanding of the disease's prognosis. The objective of this study was to assess short- and medium-term clinical outcomes of MIS-C.METHODS: Prospective observational cohort study at Municipal Children's Hospital Morozovskaya, Moscow, Russia. All children meeting the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), or the World Health Organization (WHO) MIS-C case definition admitted to the hospital between 17 May and 26 October 2020 were included in the study. All survivors were invited to attend a clinic at 2 and 6 weeks after hospital discharge.RESULTS: 37 children median age 6 years (interquartile range [IQR] 3.3-9.4), 59.5% (22/37) boys were included in the study. 48.6% (18/37) of patients required ICU care. One child died. All children had increased levels of systemic inflammatory markers during the acute event. Echocardiographic investigations identified abnormal findings in 35.1% (13/37) of children. 5.6% (2/36) of children were presenting with any symptoms six weeks after discharge. By six weeks the inflammatory markers were within the reference norms in all children. The echocardiographic evaluation showed persistent coronary dilatation in one child.CONCLUSIONS: Despite the severity of their acute MIS-C, the majority of children in our cohort fully recovered with none having elevated laboratory markers of inflammation at 6 weeks, few (&lt; 10%) reporting persistent symptoms at 6 weeks, and only one with persistent echocardiographic abnormalities.</p

    Diverse species-specific phenotypic consequences of loss of function sorting nexin 14 mutations

    Mutations in the SNX14 gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia, autosomal recessive 20 (SCAR20) in both humans and dogs. Studies implicating the phenotypic consequences of SNX14 mutations to be consequences of subcellular disruption to autophagy and lipid metabolism have been limited to in vitro investigation of patient-derived dermal fibroblasts, laboratory engineered cell lines and developmental analysis of zebrafish morphants. SNX14 homologues Snz (Drosophila) and Mdm1 (yeast) have also been conducted, demonstrated an important biochemical role during lipid biogenesis. In this study we report the effect of loss of SNX14 in mice, which resulted in embryonic lethality around mid-gestation due to placental pathology that involves severe disruption to syncytiotrophoblast cell differentiation. In contrast to other vertebrates, zebrafish carrying a homozygous, maternal zygotic snx14 genetic loss-of-function mutation were both viable and anatomically normal. Whilst no obvious behavioural effects were observed, elevated levels of neutral lipids and phospholipids resemble previously reported effects on lipid homeostasis in other species. The biochemical role of SNX14 therefore appears largely conserved through evolution while the consequences of loss of function varies between species. Mouse and zebrafish models therefore provide valuable insights into the functional importance of SNX14 with distinct opportunities for investigating its cellular and metabolic function in vivo

    Poor prognostic clinicopathologic features correlate with VEGF expression but not with PTEN expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted in chromosome ten (PTEN), angiogenesis and clinicopathological parameters of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>We examined immunohistochemical expression of VEGF and PTEN and CD34 for microvessel density (MVD) in sections of formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue blocks of 140 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx. The intensity of VEGF and PTEN staining and the proportion of cells staining were scored.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The tumor grade was not significantly related to PTEN expression, but it was to VEGF expression (p = 0.400; p = 0.015, respectively). While there was no significant relationship between PTEN expression and tumor size and cartilage invasion (p = 0.311, p = 0.128), there was a significant relationship between the severity of VEGF expression and tumor size (p = 0.006) and lymph node metastasis (p = 0.048) but not cartilage invasion (p = 0.129). MVD was significantly higher in high-grade tumors (p = 0.003) but had no significant relationship between MVD, lymph node metastasis, and cartilage invasion (p = 0.815, p = 0.204). There was also no significant relationship between PTEN and VEGF expression (p = 0.161) and between PTEN and VEGF expression and the MVD (p = 0.120 and p = 0.175, respectively).</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Increased VEGF expression may play an important role in the outcome of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx. PTEN expression was not related to VEGF expression and clinicopathological features of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx.</p
