Doping effect on the evolution of the pairing symmetry in n-type superconductor near antiferromagnetic phase boundary

    Get PDF
We present the investigation results of the in-plane \{rho}(T) resistivity tensor at the temperature range 0.4-40 K in magnetic fields up to 90kOe (H||c, J||ab) for electron-doped Nd{2-x}Ce{x}CuO{4+{\delta}} with different degree of disorder near antiferromagnetic - superconducting phase boundary. We have experimentally found that for optimally doped compound both the upper critical field slope and the critical temperature decrease with increasing of the disorder parameter (d-wave pairing) while in the case of the underdoped system the critical temperature remains constant and (dHc2/dT)|Tc increases with increasing of the disorder (s-wave pairing). These features suggest a possible implementation of the complex mixture state as the (s+id)-pairing.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

Autosomal recessive disease in children of consanguineous parents: inferences from the proportion of compound heterozygotes

    Get PDF
This short communication deals with the questions of how to calculate the expected proportion of compound heterozygous patients among affected offspring of consanguineous parents, and how, from an observed proportion of compound heterozygotes, to calculate both the proportion of homozygotes not identical by descent and the frequency of pathogenic alleles in the population. This estimate of allele frequency may be useful when dealing with populations with a considerable number of consanguineous matings

Construction of a Narrativeabout Socialist Realism in English-Language Art Criticism Discourse (based on Texts of Matthew Bown)

    Get PDF
Based on the texts of the British expert Matthew Bown, the article deals with the issue of constructing a narrative about the Soviet fine arts. The aim of the study is to analyze the patterns of narrative formation and identify its significant elements. The frame CREATING NEW ART serves as the cognitive basis of the narrative. This frame is characterized by variability and has two main configurations, which can be represented as two scenarios. These scenarios differ in the composition of the actors and the content of the tasks they solve. The actors of the first scenario, actualized in the narrative within the framework of the “friend or foe” opposition, are the ideologists of socialist realism, party leaders and representatives of the creative elite. Their tasks include the formation of the ideology and content of the new art. The actors of the second scenario, updated within the framework of the opposition “self / other”, are Soviet artists. Their task is to develop a language of art that meets ideological requirements and at the same time realizes their creative potential. The article substantiates M. Baun’s willingness to see in socialist realism not only an ideological trend, but also a significant artistic direction. This approach contributes to the disclosure of the value component of socialist realism painting and the transmission of the historical cultural memory of this phenomenon to the world community

Cloning and sequence analysis of cDNA for a human homolog of eubacterial ATP-dependent Lon proteases

AbstractOverlapping cDNA clones containing mRNA for a putative Lon protease (LonHS) were isolated from cDNA libraries prepared from human brain poly(A)+ RNA. The determined nucleotide sequence contains a 2814-bp open reading frame with two potential initiation codons (positions 62–64 and 338–340). The 5'-terminal 337-nucleotide fragment of LonHS mRNA is highly enriched with G and C nucleotides and could direct synthesis of the LonHS N-terminal domain. More likely this region promotes initiation of protein synthesis from the second AUG codon in a cap-independent manner. The amino acid sequence initiated at the second AUG codon includes 845 residues, over 30% of which are identical to those of eubacterial Lon proteases. Residues of the ‘A’ and ‘B’ motifs of NTP-binding pattern and a plausible catalytic serine residue are conserved in LonHS. Northern blot analysis revealed LonHS mRNA in lung, duodenum, liver and heart, but not in thymus cells

Hall Resistivity Correlations in Disordered Electron-Doped Nd 2 - xCe xCuO 4 + δ Films

The resistivity tensor correlations ρx y(B) ∼ [ρxx(B)]β for the mixed state magnetic field dependencies of the resistivity tensor of electron-doped Nd 2 - xCe xCuO 4 + δ/SrTiO3 single-crystal films near the antiferromagnetic–superconducting phase transition and with varying degree of disorder (δ) were studied. The decrease of β from 1.2 ± 0.2 at x = 0.14 to 0.6 ± 0.1 at x = 0.15 points out on the evidence of the change from the anisotropic s-wave to the d-wave pairing symmetry in the external magnetic field at the transition from underdoped to optimally doped region. Peculiarities of the power law dependence of the vortex motion in the mixed state can be connected with some features of the non-stoichiometric disorder in layered electron-doped superconductors. © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media New York

Resistivity tensor correlations in the mixed state of electron-doped superconductor Nd2-xCexCuO4+δ

The magnetic-field dependencies of the longitudinal and Hall resistance of the electron-doped compounds Nd2-xCexCuO4+δ in underdoped region with x = 0.14 and with varying degrees of disorder (δ) were investigated. It was established experimentally that the correlation between the longitudinal electrical resistivity and the Hall resistivity can be analyzed on the basis of scaling relationships: ρxy(B) ∼ [ρxx(B)]β. For the totality of the investigated single-crystal films of Nd2-xCexCuO4+δ/SrTiO3 the values of β from 0.8 to 1.55 is found. The observed feature in the electron-doped two-dimensional systems can be associated both with a displaying of anisotropic s - wave or d - wave pairing symmetry and with a pinning due to an essential degree of disorder in the samples under study. © 2016 Published by Elsevier B.V
